(Amy's POV)
"You are my love. You are my life."
As soon as I heard him say these words, all the loneliness, fear, and uncertainty that I once felt flushed away. And for the first time since I arrived here, I hadn't felt secure like what I am feeling now.
Though unsure, I trusted my instincts.
I know one thing is certain,
Being here with him, I'm no longer lost.
I am home.
We gazed at each other's eyes for a long time that it felt like years, though it lasted for a few minutes. We allowed the time passed by in silence, holding his hand like there's no tomorrow.
***
Two days have gone by like a blink of an eye. Troy's family welcomed me and treated me like family and insisted me to stay in their family villa knowing that Hye Jin was always busy in the hospital. Mr. Song also temporarily took over Troy's duties as the CEO of their company so that he could accompany me while I'm recuperating my memories. All of them became a great help in my recovery.
Everyday, Troy would tell me stories about how we met at Berkeley, about my family, and what happened before the accident. He also told things about me, some of them were honestly unbelievable. According to him, I was like an eagle in a dove's fur.
"Why so?" I asked.
"You're always someone who loves to explore for an adventure but you always hide that side of yours to others." He replied.
In these past few days I spent with him, I realized that he is like a worm in my belly, knowing every bit of information about me. At home, he will always cook what he claimed to be my favorite food and he really cooks well. I don't know if it was because of his cooking or indeed because it's my favorite.
"There's something I wanted to show you." He took a piece of paper inside his wallet and handed it to me. We were having our lunch at Sun and Moon Café, the place where we frequently dine in Seoul. I am having my second club sandwich while he had a ramyeon.
I took and opened it. It was a poem and its first four lines were very familiar. I suddenly remembered the receipt I kept with me inside my purse.
It was entirely similar. However, his version was much longer than mine. I looked at him with eyes filled with questions as I compared the two.
"While ordering our food, the manager told me that you came here alone the other day and asked him questions," Troy said as I peek at the manager who was busy at the café's counter.
"Wondering who wrote these words?" He smiled as I nodded. He then gave me a pen and handed me a piece of paper. "Why won't you give it a try?"
I copied the last line of the poem in his version.
Amy and Troy together – forever.
My penmanship was exactly the same as the one that was written in both papers.
"I… I wrote this?" I asked him and he nodded.
"You gave me the longer version of the poem because you were afraid that I might forget our promise." He laughed lightly.
My heart felt heavy as I listen to him. "I-I'm sorry." I looked down avoiding his gaze. I feel guilty for doing this to him, for making him feel this way, for forgetting about him.
"Baby, it's not your fault." He reached out and cupped my cheeks to look at him. "We never wished that this will happen, okay?" I sensed his soft lips touching my forehead.
I'm at ease, though I feel bad for him.
Am I being unfair to him for not remembering?
These thoughts wrestled inside my head.
I have to remember as soon as possible.
This is just a short chapter for a quick update. I'll make it worthwhile for the succeeding chapters.
See ya tomorrow loves.
