Chapter 72: Hunted
Joseph felt like he was in danger, jumped up from the ground and instinctively jumped left. He felt something barely scratching his armor.
'It doesn't seem like I'm in a dark place, but like I'm blind. But I can't smell, hear or see anything except for myself. Also I don't feel any magical aura. This is too strange.'
Something hit his shoulder and he felt immense pain from it. He touched the place and an arrow was sticking out from him. He pulled it out gritting his teeth and healed the wound.
He made a translucent barrier around him to protect himself and started to walk around. Even though he moved he did not feel like he was going anywhere. Like he was on a treadmill.
He threw himself on the ground and felt that an arrow barely touched his armor.
'This can't be going on for too long. My barrier is useless for these arrows. Who is this person shooting at me?'
He looked around again, but nothing.
"You want to play like this? Fine!"
He concentrated mana around him in a circle, then shot it outin every direction.
'It ate a lot of mana, but it should hit.'
He felt his magic fly more than 200 meters away, before it flew out of his magic sens's range.
'Are they shooting from further away? Or did I miss?'
He lift his left leg up and saw an arrow barely pass it as he moved it. He turned around and shot four magical missiles back at the point the arrow came from.
'Maybe one will hit.'
Again he did not feel like it hit.
'Forget it. I'll try something else.'
He took out a chalk from his bag and started drawing a circle. In the middle of drawing he jumped back to dodge an arrow, then returned to it.
'I'm going to try this. I just came up with this magic, but thanks to my ability, it should work. But I need to get some time to draw this circle up, so I don't need that much mana to cast it.'
He finished the circle, but still ned some symbols for a basic mana strenghtening circle.
'Catherine said I need 20 symbols to make it efficient and 40 to halve the mana requirement. I hope I can make at least 20.'
After the first few an arrow hit him in the back and he fell down on the ground. The arrow hit his backpack so he had no problems, but he wiped off a part of the circle.
'Why is this person just randomly shooting at me? Why are they not killing m... Wait! Maybe he can't see too?'
He repaired the circle and finished a few more symbols and then jumped. An arrow hit the place he was standing at.
"HA!"
He went back to drawing.
'3... 4... 5... 6... 7... 8... Jump!'
As he jumped an other arrow flew his direction, but barely missed him.
'He need 8 seconds and he will shoot at me. Though it seems like he can read my movements as well.'
He jumped once more, but the arrow still hit him in the left leg. He left it in there not minding the pain and finished the last symbol.
'I hope 20 are enough. Now...'
He sit down and concentrated. The circle lit up and he felt his body get light as he started to light up as well.
"So long!"
He vanished as an arrow flew through the after image of his head.
The cloacked man walked to the circle.
"Seems like he escaped. But doesn't matter. I got his weakpoints now."
He vanished into the darkness.

AldredGL A chapter out. I want more days in a row than 2... Seems like I always have to take off the 3th days and as saturday goes for this week I will most likely take that one as well. But there is a chance I'll have time.
