Chapter 10: Assistant Part 2

Holy City of the King, Zeeland

June 28th, 767 AD

"It's time to get my assistant!" I thought.

A day had passed since my conversation with my father, and I had chosen to wait until today, June 28th, to finally get my assistant/manager/emotional support. I plan to get him in several hours, but first:

"System, can I bring another individual into the blueprint creator?" I asked.

{No, but I am willing to add a similar function that will work in the same way as the blueprint creator. The new feature will only be able to have up to five people, and you cannot create blueprints in it. Other than that, all other things in it will remain the same. The opening sequence will remain the same other than having to imagine the person to have them go as well. The cost is 500 SP.}

"This is fine," I thought, "It is useful enough, and I have a bit of SP I currently don't need."

"I guess I'll buy it," I replied, still a little unsure of my decision.

{The item has been bought. Transferring the SP out of your account, installation complete.}

I plan to use this to help explain things in privacy and help convince Brandon. Everything is now in place, and I'm ready.

It seemed my learning abilities when I was a toddler have mostly retained. They have diluted somewhat, but are still much above the average adult. I believe that it will be a breeze to teach anyone, but especially my soon to be assistant, since he also will have much better learning capabilities than the average medieval citizen.

It's time to get Brandon.

"It's time, go get him," I ordered firmly to the guards by the door.

"Yes, my prince," They replied.

Like I ordered, two of the guards quickly left and went to wherever Brandon was. I had already briefed them on what to do when I was ready.

A few minutes later, sure enough, Brandon came. He seemed to be a little bewildered, but other than that, he was much more confident than other guards would probably be if they were in this situation.

"My prince, how may I serve you?" He asked bowing.

"You may leave," I told the guards.

"As for you, come here," I said, gesturing for him to come a little closer.

I'm talking more formally now because I realized that I was getting a little too far behind in speech. I now understand that most people expect me to start talking more officially, and my wording was like a three-year-old. I don't want people to think I have an impairment, and then call me a devils child or something.

The guards swiftly leave the room, and I have Brandon take a seat.

"Just how daring are you to act this way in front of a prince?" I asked scornfully.

I was just trying to keep up my act as the guards haven't entirely left the room yet.

"Please forgive me, my prince," He replied, acting much more confident than I thought he would.

"Oh, what a person I found," I thought joyfully.

"Enough with that," I said in a quiet voice so that no one would hear me, "please don't fear, something strange is going to happen."

I then activated the new function, and similar to the blueprint creator, a white room appeared.

"My prince, what is this?" He asked curiously.

Again, contrary to my expectations, instead of being scared, all he seems to be is intrigued.

Indeed, a man ahead of his time," I said, "how advanced would this planet be if everyone was like him."

"what do you mean, my prince?" He asked.

"Nothing, you won't understand for a while anyway," I said mysteriously, I always wanted to have that wise old man vibe, "You don't have to be so formal, though"

"Ok, why have you brought me here?" He asked.

"System, I would like to designate the other person in this space to be the designated person for side mission 1," I said in my head.

{Operation complete, you have completed the first requirement for side mission 1.}

"you there," Brandon asked, waving his hand in front of my face.

I looked up and heard him, "oh. Sorry, I just got in my head," I replied.

Looking at him, I can tell something has changed. He seems to be much more comfortable around me now. He was already pretty calm, but it seems he understands the situation much more.

"The system explained everything, you don't have to worry," He said.

"Wait. what!" I replied, "system, what did you do?"

{I have given some extra benefits to you. Brandon now knows about his job and what he is supposed to do. I didn't think you needed to know this and I wanted to give you what you could call a surprise. You don't have to worry. He is going to help willingly.}

Instead of the System's monotonous voice talking inside my head, it blared out loud like a loudspeaker.

"I'm pretty sure this is to show that Brandon understands everything," I thought, "whatever, let's keep going."

Similar to what the System said, I can tell that Brandon chose this willingly. His eyes show that he wants to do something more with his life. I'm pretty sure that as long as I keep developing new technologies, he will never betray me. I don't think I can tell him much about me yet, though. I want to get to know him more first.

It was time to complete side mission 1!

Yay! The 10th chapter is done!

Hi, SunkenSpaceMan here. Sorry for publishing late, I wanted to take a break this morning. Still one chapter a day, though.

I want you guys to know that I am in no way a historian and have little to no knowledge of any medieval customs. This is a different world, though, so I can do what I want.

Thank you for reading!
