Chapter 5: First Impressions
Holy City of the King, Zeeland
June 27th, 762 AD
As I opened my eyes for the first time in this world, I saw an unfamiliar woman staring back at me.
The woman I now see is my mom. I have no idea how or why I know that, but I just do. The strange thing is that I don't love her as much as I thought would. It is kind of creeping me out, most babies you see couldn't have more affection for there parents even though they may cry a lot. It was a thing most people could just see in babies' eyes. They need their parents.
For me, though, I just don't have much of a special connection with her. My thought is that I can kind of sense that she is a terrible person in some way. Another possibility could be that constant thinking and having lived as an adult has hampered my emotions.
The room I am in seems abnormally large, but this is likely because I am a small baby, though. It is quite simple in design with a bed and a few oil lamps beside it on tables. The look is obviously for a noble lady of this time with pink and purple window drapes and bed linings. It is also evident that this room is fit for a queen because of the giant king bed and beautifully designed furniture. I now believe without a doubt that I am one of the princes of this nation.
The maids were speaking excitedly about what seemed to be my birth but were also quickly preparing everything and moving Mom since I just noticed she fainted from the painfulness of giving birth. From the look of the maids, I can conclude that my mother seems to be a little harsh on them, and they could probably get in trouble from this little fiasco.
The only problem is that I couldn't understand the maids at all!
"Oh come on," I thought, "how could I not have thought of the possibility of a language barrier between this world and my old one."
"System is there any possibility that I could purchase knowledge to this countries language," I asked in my head. I did not want to have the maids hear me.
{No, you must learn for yourself. You should consider this a mission. I will give you 300 SP points if you learn this language in two months.}
"What the heck, why do you have to make some things way too easy, but other things hard?" I thought to myself, "it feels like this system is teasing me. I wonder if it has a sense of humor."
"The funny thing is that I don't think this will be much of a challenge," I thought to myself again.
I am already fluent in Spanish, French, and Latin, and I picked these up from my memories of learning them in school. My learning capability as a baby has made almost everything easy to learn and get better at. I also noticed that this language was similar to the romance languages, and kind of like a combination of Italian and Spanish. I estimate that it will only take a month and a half at most to learn.
(The reason he can learn most things so quickly is that he is thinking and using his brain for much more complicated actions than walking or moving muscles. He can use this valuable time of brain development to learn more complicated constructions like math and speech at a record rate.)
Similar to my estimate, one month later, I have learned most of the language that I now know is Zeelandish (I may change the name of this language if anyone has suggestions -SunkenSpaceMan).
I also learned that I lived in the castle of the capital of Zeeland, The Holy City of the King and that my name is also Henry here. (The royal family's last name is Zee, so his name is Henry Zee.)

"That's nice," I thought, "let's get back to the explanation."
That was about the only new thing that I learned, but everything else helped corroborate the system. An example of this is that I am indeed the third prince of Zeeland. I now know without a doubt that I reincarnated into another world. I also now believe that the system is most likely going to be trustworthy in the future.
Since I am a baby, I have not seen my siblings or father much. I think that the only time I have seen my father was the day after I was born. He came to see me once and then went back to his business. I don't hate him, though, and I know that he is likely busy. No baby is that important in a king's eye. There is this one feeling that I am unimportant and weak that comes with this, and I think it comes from my instincts as a baby to need to see my father. Other than that, I have seen my older three brothers a few times, and my sister once.
I could tell that my brothers were not the best of people from there actions. I now realize how good of a spy a baby can be. Most others would not care if a baby was next to them because babies are innocent and stupid. I can use this to hear what others would only say alone, which may be quite useful in the future. I can already tell that I need to stay away from my brothers to achieve what I wanted to create.
Other than that, I have been acting like an average baby to keep my cover. Most things at the castle are standard, though, other than the lack of hygiene. I can only be glad that I was not born a commoner. All I can do now is to wait for missions to appear and plan for the future after that.
