Chapter 67: Web

"I've come to claim what is rightfully mine." Ignis growled.

"And what do you think that might be?" I sneer at him, circling him in human form.

"Why, my mate, of course." His smile is demonic. "Regina."

I couldn't withhold the guttural growl that shook the ground we stood on.

*The fuck if I let him even say her name one more time!* Eques fumed inside of me.

*He's all yours big guy.* I smirked.

After all, I'm an Alpha. He's just a Beta.

I spread my arms out wide, an invitation. "Take your best shot, mutt."

Chaos ensued around us. Everyone was fighting… well, everyone. We have the second largest pack. However, I smell witches and vampires on the battlefield. That can even the odds exponentially.

Ignis drinks from a small vile before slamming it to the ground. The glass shatters in the grass and I shake my head in disgust. His eyes then turn completely white before he shifts. I follow suit and we circle each other slowly.

A wolf lunges at me from the side but I quickly move out of the way. I'm able to slash its chest. As the wolf falls, I'm tackled to the ground by Ignis' wolf. It was then I realized we were the same size. I have never seen a beta the size of an alpha before.

He went straight for the kill, biting at my throat but I was able to kick him off with just a small gash to my neck. His strength parallels mine and for a moment, my bravado falters.

We can't understand each other in wolf form but I taunt him. Feigning one way then pouncing another. His tail flickers back and forth in annoyance. He's able to dodge and even parry some of my blows, it's quite impressive for a beta. If he wasn't trying to steal my mate and wife, he would've actually made a decent…well, beta.

Distracted, I catch his hind leg with the swipe of my paw. He growls in pain, limping as we continue our duel. Suddenly my back paws begin sinking in mud. I look around but don't understand what's happening. Ignis advances in wolf form as I scrape with my front paws to get out of this goop.

Fear grips me at the thought of never seeing Regina or holding Serenity again. Ignis lunges and makes contact with my chest. I can feel his claws inside my body and the blood oozing out.

As soon as the pain starts, Ignis is ripped from my body hurled in the opposite direction. Aether is using one hand to whip the wind at Ignis while the other hand is strangling a middle aged woman. I'd assume she was the witch who was sinking me alive.

Once the woman falls, Aether uses both hands to toss Ignis a good mile or so away.

The pain in my chest comes back tenfold. "Great timing kid."

I cough blood but can feel my skin and bones knitting back together minutely.

"Don't talk." He says in a serious voice. Using the wind, Aether digs me out and lifts me into the air. "We've got to take you to a medic straight away."

With one hand manipulating the air, he carries me behind him. His other hand is clearing our path from those fighting.

When I met Aether he was about 15 or so. He turned 18 a few days ago and has already drastically changed. He must have alpha blood because he's a few inches shorter than I am but probably just as wide.

"Medic!" He called as he set me down on a stretcher. Makeshift tents were already set up in front of the pack house. "Hurry up! It's your alpha!"

As soon as a nurse was in sight Aether turned to leave.

"Thank you." Aether glanced back as I started coughing more blood.

"Thank me if you live." He left the tent, the flaps of the opening billowing wildly from his wind.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

That stupid mutt never liked me, but intervening and throwing me a damn mile really pisses me off! He thinks he's so special because he can manipulate the air or whatever. I'll teach him a lesson when I get my paws on him.

The potion still courses through my veins. I stretch and shift back into my human form. Time to take what's mine.

"Venefica!" I bellow into the trees.

In an instant, a little voluptuous witch appears before me. Her raven black hair nearly touches the floor

"Yes?" She snaps.

"Where is Regina? I want her NOW!" My patience with these three sisters has shriveled up.

"She's in the bunker." She states without any emotion.

"How do I get her then?" I practically growl.

She sighs heavily and grabs my arm. Instantly we are teleported to the large metal doors of the bunker.

"What's the code?" I ask looking at the mechanism keeping the doors shut.

"It's biometric. You should still be programmed in." She smiles but her soulless eyes remain void of emotion.

"How will I get her out without a… misunderstanding?" I ask before I put my hand on the scan pad.

"She said you were clever." The witch tsked. "I'll help you extract her… but only her!"

I nodded. Regina was the only one I came for. Now we could live our happily ever after. I placed my hand on the scanner and the door opened.

A woman ran to the door, "Is it over?"

"Sleep." Venefica commanded and everyone obeyed.

I could feel Regina's aura calling to me. When I reached her I carefully took a baby out of her hands and placed it on the ground. I scooped Regina up into my arms and carried her back out the way I came.

Before I could cross the threshold, another calling pulled at my heart. I looked back to the baby on the ground and noticed the purple eyes. Was that one of my children? The baby closed their eyes and seemed to fall back to sleep. I shook my head violently. I can't get distracted now. All I've ever wanted is right here in my arms.
