As Ignis held me I drifted back into the dream world.
It was night and I was in the forest, running as Praesul. We ran until we came upon a river. It was wide with lots of rocks that made small rapids. The moon was shining brightly in it's full magnificent form. Rustling in the trees behind made us turn.
A beautiful woman emerged. She was old but not wrinkly. Her long white hair was braided and it dragged on the ground behind her. She wore a silver floor length gown with silver jewelry. Her nails were long and midnight blue.
I shifted back into my human form. Naked in front of her, I bowed.
"My child." I raised my head to see her arms open wide.
Cautiously I made my way to her and hugged her.
"You have a difficult road ahead of you." She said into my hair.
Intuition told me this was the Moon Goddess.
"Goddess, why do I have three mates?" I pull back just enough to meet her eyes.
Her eyes are like a kaleidoscope. Millions of tiny specks of different colors all jumbled together to make her eyes.
"The day you put on that necklace your fate was set in stone." She said sadly.
"But it wasn't my fault, I was only a child."
"Your mother and father wanted to save you."
"Me?" I'm surprised by this.
"I know you remember how they died..."
We were attacked by a band of misfits on our way to visit the Irroro Clan. We hadn't seen them in years but we maintained a strong alliance. Our caravan of cars was ambushed by a group that consisted of witches, vampires, zombies, and other werewolves. They had 20 to our 50 but the witches amplified their power. By the time we had taken them out, the rest disappeared. My father was killed and my mother hanging on for dear life. We didn't make it to the Irroro Clan in time. She died in my arms in the back seat of the SUV.
"...that band of miscreants were looking for you. Since you wore the necklace, they couldn't sense which one you were. They could've killed you for all they knew. When their witches were killed they fled." She brushes away a tear that's escaped from my eye.
"Why do they want me?"
"There's a prophesy about the first female Alpha."
"So I am the first female Alpha?" Praesul's chest puffs out proud.
"Yes, well, technically your mother was. However, she declined so she could become Luna. She ruled equally beside your father."
"I didn't know that." My mom, an alpha?!
"The prophesy states the first female alpha will discover the use of elemental magic. I understand it's vague, but with elemental magic, your pack will help our kind survive."
I step back, "No pressure or anything."
"Regina, you already have one elemental in your pack whether you've realized it yet or not. You just need to find the other four and then you can unleash their magic."
"Wait, who?"
"The question you should be asking is what are the elements?"
"I took chemistry..."
"Regina, listen." A Goddess command. My mouth was frozen shut. "The five elements are water, fire, earth, air, and space. Without all 5 their magic cannot be released."
I raised my hand. She waved hers and my lips unzipped.
"Can you tell me what element I have in my pack so I can plan accordingly?"
"Space."
"Niveus!"
"Very good child." She smiles at me warmly. "We won't meet again for some time."
"Wait! Where is my sister?"
"I'm sorry but I cannot help you find her. That journey you and your pack must take alone."
She started to fade away. "Please don't go!"
"You are strong. I am proud of the Alpha you have become."
I woke up overly heated and snug against Ignis.
"Ignis wake up." I nudge.
"Noooo..." I growled and he stirred. "I'm awake Gina."
"Then can you let go?" I could've easily moved his arm but he did do me a favor.
"No." I could feel him smile into my hair.
I elbowed him in the stomach and he rolled over gasping for air
"Oh don't be dramatic, I didn't hit you that hard." I went to the bathroom to get ready for the day. Once I showered, dried my hair, and applied minimal make-up I went to the closet to change.
Ignis was sitting on the bed fully clothed. Must be nice not to do your hair or make-up...probably saves you a lot of time.
"What's my agenda for today?" I ask as I get dressed out of view, in the closet.
"You have a meeting with the Silver Pack. You have lunch with me. Then you have an afternoon of training and viewing other challenges."
I had forgotten about my meeting with the Silver Pack. Our land is adjacent to one another. We also had an alliance until their alpha died this year. I was hoping to maintain the alliance. The challenge they sent, for three days from now, made me weary.
"I can't have lunch with you." I replied entering the room in a simple sun dress. Yellow on top that fades to orange at the skirt.
"I'd like to talk."
"I'd like you to go back and find my sister."
"What?"
"She's missing. If I didn't think it'd be showing weakness, offending all other alphas, and leaving us without allies, I would've left immediately." I sigh in frustration. "It's not an alpha order, but I'll make it one."
"What happened to you? A few days ago you wouldn't have threatened to use your will over mine."
"A few days ago, I didn't have the weight of the world bearing down on my shoulders. Find my sister so at least that can give me some peace of mind."
He looked at the sofa we had slept on together then at me. "As you wish, Alpha."
Without a backward glance, he left.
