Sitting in a corner of the living room, I pulled up my knees to my chest. I tried my best to not listen in, but my curiosity had gotten the far best of me. I leaned over next to the wall.
A loud deep smokers voice told Louis, "Sir, if you don't calm yourself down this instant, I'm going to have to take you into the station for questioning! We are only here to insure the safety and well being of the child in question."
Hearing Luna chime in right after, she told him as well, "you have an open and active case with CPS. If you comply with us, we can get your case closed faster. Now, on the other hand if you don't, we will have no choice but to take the children into protective custody. Which by the way, will be super difficult to get the children back from". "Fine, whatever. How long is this going to take?" ask Louis very impatiently, "I've got other things that need to be done". Luna's soft voice told him with a sharp tone, "how about in eight months, twice a week, between the hours of four and five in the evening, at random through the week days"? Obviously frustrated, Louis asked rather sarcastically, "that's non-negotiable, right"? "That's right, Sir" Luna said as she snapped her binder shut, "Now we are done for today. See you very soon, for our next well check".
I closed my eyes listening for all the foot steps, and car doors. After is their ignition started, and they left I heard the front door get slammed shut. Staying quiet, I kept my eyes shut pretending not to hear anything. Before I could open my eyes, I was being ripped up off the ground and shaken. "This is all your god damn fault!" Louis screamed, "If only your stupid ass would have just died back then, we wouldn't be having this fucking problem Thorn!! God I wish I could just kill you myself like I did those men in the army!"
I didn't honestly know what got into me, but as he shook me and continued to yell, I started to laugh. I was scared so badly. I was trembling like a rat in the murderous paws of a cat, but I for some reason started laughing. I laughed so hard, even I thought I was crazy. Deep down in me, I knew he was a monster, simply playing the roll of the hero. I didn't want to believe it, but all good things come to an end at some point or another.
James came running as he heard everything from the other room. "You're going to kill her! Dad, you need to stop! This is all your fault!" James yelled, "Do you want me too hate you too?! You're fixing to lose us both!"
In complete disbelief and pure anger, Louis threw me halfway across the room and kicked me into a wall. Wincing in pain, I said in a voice loud enough to be heard, after spitting out a mouthful of blood, "so pathetic wolves, really do wear sheep's clothing. I may not have remembered what you have done in the past, but I will make sure you get yours stupid wolf."
Rage filled Louis's eyes even more than before, and James dove out in front of my sad looking, blood covered body just in time. "Enough, god damnit! Luna will be back in just a few days. How the hell are you going to explain this mess Dad?! James yelled, "How are you liking the sound of going back to jail? Murder charges has a nice ring to it, Right?"
"Guess what, my stupid little Thorn?" Louis said with a twisted air about him, "It would truly be worth it, to end your life with my own hands. I would happily squeeze the very last breath out of you, any time I please. You are just an insignificant little Thorn. The war didn't scare me, and neither does the sounds of prison."
Sorry for not getting more chapters done lately. I've been terribly sick these last three weeks. I hope you all are healthy and well.
