Chapter 16: MRI

Awkwardly, things seem to be going in a loop for the next two months. Louis comes by and starts watching me from afar, almost every day. He would say a few words and then just leave. My gut feeling never went away either, for some reason I can't shake it. I thought about normal dads and daughters but something was clearly not right. Was I once a bratty kid, was it something I had done to divide us? Now on the other hand was this big 'or' feeling because he did something? I felt so conflicted.

After therapy, I return to my room and start to talk to Lynn. I asked her, "what's the deal with Louis?" She said, "He has always, been abusive Rose. He is a spawn of hell, and trained James to be the same way". "Lynn, I don't understand why he is doing this then. He has even saved me from falling", I mumbled back. She was surprised to hear that he had an act of kindness in him. "Be careful, Rose. Even poisonous snakes don't bare their fangs unless they're ready", Lynn sighed. I nodded, and got ready for my MRI.

The nurse came in and placed me in the chair. He said, "are you ready to go little one"? I said, "I guess we'll get this show on the road". He laughed and said, "you sure are tough for a youngster. I've met many little kids, but none of them ready to get this done, you sure are something else" I giggled, and told him, "If I could remember, I'd be able to tell you why I'm me". He smiled awkwardly with a chuckle, "Hopefully we'll figure it out for you". I nodded and sighed, thinking to my self, I surely hope.

Applying the jelly adhesive to the wires, they attached them all to my head one by one, then tightly wrapped it up in gauze and tape. Afterward they stuck some more wires to my chest this time to monitor my heart. Once they were finished the gave me a couple pills to swallow, and shut me in the room with the lights off. Sitting there, I started to get sleepy and before I knew it, I fell asleep on the table to the sounds of; beeping, and voices in the distance, the shuffling of feet on the ground, and the sound of oxygen and it puffed out of the tube in my nose. Nearly two days later, I woke up to stomach pains, and the blinding shock of fluorescent lighting. I tried to ask a nurse for some information about the scans and for some water, but I got ignored. Noticing that it was night time, I realized I had to wait until morning before anyone would acknowledge me. Night nurses here weren't all that friendly to kids. To my luck, I just so happen to be a kid.
