"Welcome back", said Mr. Jones the bus driver. I smile very awkwardly again saying, "thank you" and than settling in to my seat very quickly on the bus. Everyone scattered away from me, and it got really quiet. Well, except for a few whispers from the back of the bus. The perks of being the last one off, meant I got to be the last one on as well. Which I am thankful for, because I felt all eyes on me.
The bus arrived quickly to the school as it had always done, but everyone waited for me to get off the bus first. I felt so weird, because everyone normally ran off the bus. I thought about why they were acting so weird, but I didn't think about it very long at first. I just decided to headed towards the cafeteria, to get some breakfast before class.
Whispering, whispering everywhere! Trying not to pick my head up and look around. I kept my head down and ate a little. Feeling too uncomfortable I put my tray away, and silently rushed to the classroom. I noticed a bunch of glances, and other children walking away from me. Did I do something wrong? Did I look awful or smell? Thoughts overwhelmed me. Making it too the classroom just on time for her to unlock the door. I sat on the brightly colored rug in my square, after putting my bag in me cubby. Carefully I crossed my legs, trying not to touch the bruises hidden by my jeans. Hardly any of the kids were in the classroom yet, so the teacher took it to her advantage and called me over.
"Miss Green, I'm sorry I was gone so long, please forgive me", I blurted out as fast as I could, with my head down. She sighed and said, "Rose, I'm not mad at you. You do not need to be sorry. I was only concerned, and wondering if you were okay"? "I'm okay, Miss Green. People are just acting really weird today. Like I'll get them sick or something", I sighed. "It'll stop, don't let it get to you", she tried to say with a smile. After that the day went by quickly, and lonely as usual and the rest of the year stayed that same.
