Chapter 19: Missan Iu Orphanage
As soon as the double doors of the main hall opened, Veta and the trio could clearly see the four boys playing with the kids of the orphanage.
Javier is clearly having an awkward expression as some kids circled around him with curious expressions. Never in his life did he thought that one day, he'll do something he never did before just for Veta's sake.
Compared to him, Hein is having a pretty good time. He's goofing off with a few young boys as they chased him around, and his laughter could even be heard from before the double doors opened.
Reon was looking proudly at a few admiring gazes he received from young girls, as they looked at him as a prince charming. He felt refreshed, as his confidence soared. These young kids would be members of his fan base in the future. It is better to build up his reputation in these kids' heart since young.
And Kenji, Veta noticed him the first. He's singing for a few kids in the stage, and he even gave away a rose flower to one of his audience. The chubby little girl just blushed after she received the teasing gazes of her friends.
"Kids, nandito na ang mga ate niyo," Nanay Pina announced the arrival of the four in their mother tongue. The children's attention immediately shifted to the doors of the main hall, and their eyes had a glint of excitement, as they rushed at the door to welcome their older sisters who helped in raising them.
Missan Iu Orphanage is an orphanage founded eight years ago, when Veta and the trio were seven and eight year olds. Nanay Pina built it with the money her parents left her before their unfortunate death. Although Nanay Pina is unable to bear a child of her own, she loves children. So she unhesitatingly created a haven for these kids to live in.
However, the orphanage experienced several obstacles before it reached it's peaceful and stable atmosphere in the present. In the past, only a few volunteers helped them and donated for the children's welfare. The children experienced eating once a day, not having a bath for a week because of a water shortage, and even had to wear dirty clothes. Those were the dark days of the Missan Iu Orphanage.
But those changed when Veta started her charity works. She reached her helping hands to many orphanages, and Missan Iu Orphanage is one of the dozen of orphanages helped by Veta and the trio. And that is why every kid is eager to meet and cozy up at their saviors.
"Kalma lang, kids. Hanggang tanghali sila dito, kaya't marami pa kayong oras upang makipaglaro sa kanila," Nanay Pina tried to calm the crowding children and told them that the four will be there until lunchtime. This made the excited kids to calm down a little, because they can play with their older sisters until lunch.
"Who wants new toys?" Nanay Pina sighed when she saw that the children were calming down, but Rhy just had to tell them about new toys. Of course, the effect is obvious. The previously calmed down kids once again grew excited. They'll be having new toys now because of their ate Rhy!
"Me! Me! Me!" The children shouted synchronously and Nanay Pina felt a headache. But all she could do is to sigh. After all, they were their benefactors. And Rhy just wanted the children to have fun, that's why she showed them the new toys she were talking about.
"Okay, one for each of you!" Rhy generously said as several men in black went inside the main hall to put some boxes before leaving. The kids excitedly opened the boxes and was happy to see new toys; toy airplanes, teddy bears, tea cup sets and many more.
"Mga bata, ano ang dapat niyong sabihin sa mga ate pagkatapos kayong bigyan ng mga laruan?" Nanay Pina asked patiently, to remind the children of their manners.
"Thank you, ate Rhy! Thank you, ate Kora! Thank you, ate Nix! Thank you, ate Sveta! Thank you po!" They all said in a chorus.
Rhy and Kora almost pinched their faces. Imagine a crowd of cute and chubby little kids saying those words in unison. The two fought with their urges well.
"It seems like the four of you are well-liked by children. Now, who wants to play tag with me?" Hein popped out from the crowd of children who were all busy choosing their own toys. Some kids instantly agreed with his proposition of playing tag. They let go of their toy trucks and toy airplanes after they managed to put find a safe location for them and then ran after Hein.
"They were the volunteers that Rhy invited. They told me that they were touched by the kids and hoped to collaborate in the future. They are good boys. Perhaps one day, one of you will marry them. It's a good catch," Nanay Pina commented as she saw the four girls looking at the four boys who were playing with the children.
The trio instantly gave Veta a stare as the poor innocent girl felt her cheeks heat up once more. 'Why do they have to give me that teasing stare?'
"Perhaps that's true, Nanay Pina. Truth be told, our friend Veta here is in an intimate relationship with that one over there. Maybe what you've said will come true in the near future," Kora seriously voiced out her opinion as she pointed at Kenji. Rhy had a mischievous smile on her face as she stared at Veta while Nix silently nodded in agreement.
Veta felt like having a fever with her burning face temperature, but Nanay Pina didn't notice her reaction as she observed Kenji.
'That guy? He has a good voice and has a good showmanship. But he looks a little naughty. Won't little Sveta cry in the future if he toyed with her?' Nanay Pina thought.
"He has good looks and he sings well. How intimate are they? Did they kiss already?" And that question of Nanay Pina hit Veta's soft spot.
"N-nanay, he's just my Class Escort. W-we are not having a-an intimate relationship," Veta said weakly, as she felt that all her force was seeped out of her because of embarrassment.
