Chapter 18: Serti Via Briller
"Nanay Pina! Nanay Pina! Andito na sina ate!" A cute little boy approximately six years old excitedly shouted as soon as Veta and the trio alight the car. He cheerfully opened the gate to the orphanage to let the four girls in.
The boy reported to the lady in charge of the orphanage just now, saying that the four girls were already here.
The language that the boy is using is the mother tongue of their country. Usually, children of ages 10 and below would use it on a daily basis, but when they reached 11 and above, they will then be slowly immersed in using the universal language of their planet. So Veta and the rest clearly understood the meaning of his words. It's just that they don't often use that language anymore.
"Little Chito! Look at how fast you've grown!" At the instant that Nix laid her sleepy eyes on the kid, she immediately changed her sleepy expression of that of an excited one. She lifted the little boy high and the kid giggled while in the air.
"Ate Nix! Hihihi!" The kid giggled. Nix really liked the kid from the start of their volunteering works in this orphanage.
"Come on, Chito. Let's see your other friends," Nix finally let the kid down after getting contented with his cuteness.
"Ate Nix, mayroong apat na gwapong lalaki na naghihintay sa loob kasama ni Nanay Pina," reported the kid to Nix. Nix already got some clues that the four handsome boys that Chito was talking about were the four childhood friends of Veta. So they're here already and waited for them together with Nanay Pina?
"Yiee, they should be the four prince charming we were talking about, Veta. How would you say your thanks to them after this? A kiss, perhaps?" Rhy teased Veta that made the poor girl blush hardly. She still did not recover from her previous blush and the red tinge on her face was slowly fading, but Rhy just had to tease so hard! And why would Rhy talk about kisses?
"Shut it already, Rhy. Stop teasing our little Veta, although I would be very happy to also tease her, but now's not the right time. We're in front of a child," Kora reprimanded Rhy, taking a look at little Chito in Nix's arms.
"Alright, alright. But you still have to thank them, Veta. They helped a lot to the orphanages," Rhy said, as she teased Veta unconsciously. Kora just shrugged and had no intentions of further reprimanding Rhy's actions. It's in her nature to tease. And Veta is such a good victim. So let them be.
Kora calmed her nerves. If she's not used to the way Rhy handled things, she would have blown up years ago. She's the only one brave enough to continuously tease Veta, and that is why she's the Valiant Princess of the trio.
The four walked towards the main hall of the orphanage, with Nix holding little Chito in her arms. Along the way, they would encounter a few kids running amd playing around the place. And a little girl was already wrapped in Veta's embrace when she reached the hall.
"Sister Lucy, when will you bring me home?" The little girl asked excitedly. Veta fought back with her urge to pinch the girl's cheeks and answered.
"Nanay Pina will allow you to follow me next week. We will celebrate your birthday here before you say your good byes to your fellow sisters and brothers, Via," Veta answered as she purposely talked in a childish manner in front of the little girl. Via is her adopted sister, but the lady in charge of the orphanage was reluctant to let her go, so Via is still staying in the orphanage, and only after her seventh birthday next week will she come home with Veta.
"Serti Via Briller! Why don't you accept me as your adopted sister? Although Veta's family is perfect, I can also be perfect just for you!" Kora popped out from Veta's side, trying to poach Via into her family.
"Don't listen to her, Serti! You should be my adopted sister. I earn a loy of money, and I can feed you candies everyday!" Rhy said, popping out from Veta's another side. After she revealed her claws, her's and Kora's eyes met. And a silent war happened.
The three of them were fighting over Via since day one. The kid is simply adorable. After knowing Via for over three years, Veta decided to adopt her as a sister, and the other two also didn't want to lose such a cute and adorable child. But in the end, Via obviously chose Veta. Nix didn't care about their babbles about Via because she has her little Chito.
"Ladies, she's my adopted sister, so none of you can snatch her away from me. Behave yourselves. You two are worse than kids. If you two were mimicked by the children, Nix will beat the two of you up," Veta threatened them before but was ineffective. She's just too gentle to threaten people. So she smartly used Nix to threaten them.
Nix, who was busy cuddling little Chito, had an unknown expression in her face when she heard Veta use her name shamelessly.
'Why did you add my name to the equation? I'm innocent here!' Nix can't do anything about it but to sigh inwardly. Another problem added to her shoulders.
"Sveta, iha. Thank goodness and the four of you are here. We have another four guests in the main hall. And oh, you found Via. I looked for her in their room to welcome you all but she was nowhere to be found," a middle aged lady hurriedly said as she encountered Veta and the trio in the hallways.
The middle aged lady is Nanay Pina, the lady in charge of the orphanage and the caretaker of the children living in it. She's a kind hearted lady who never married and never had a child of her own so she took the responsibility of taking care of the children in the orphanage.
As soon as the double doors of the main hall opened, Veta and the trio could clearly see the four boys playing with the kids of the orphanage.
