Chapter 8: Plans
"So what are your plans about the four boys, Veta? I presume that they will court you sooner or later," Kora teased as she gave a meaningful glance at Veta who innocently smiled.
"Let them be, Kora. They are my close friends," Veta said, a smile still plastered on her face.
"And they obviously have some feelings for you. Won't you be able to choose when four charming boys rushed to your door to court you? You have a very long hair, girl," Rhy smirked as she joined in Kora's teasing. Veta giggled as she lightly pushed Rhy away.
"I was thinking of catching up with them for these few years we weren't in touch with each other, but it's apparent that the three of you has naughty thoughts inside your brains. I think I'll have lesser interactions with them now to stop any of you thinking those thoughts," Veta smiled as Kora and Rhy froze, while Nix showed a lazy smile before she yawned.
"I'm not involved in that, Veta. I'm innocent," Nix said as she looked at the three boys in the classroom talking to their classmates while Hein was outside with Eirein.
"I wonder what will happen if Veta really avoided the four, and they found out that it was all because of you two. Pitiful," Nix yawned once more and laid on top of her desk, looking at the two lazily.
Because of this, the two froze even more. No one would be dumb enough to infuriate four boys with mighty backgrounds, especially those that has connections far and wide.
However, Veta did not even know what the two were undergoing at the moment. She's more worried about Nix.
"Why are you yawning more than usual, Nix? It has only been three hours, and you yawned for eighteen times already. You didn't sleep well last night?" Veta worriedly asked, not sure of what to do.
"I haven't eaten any lollipop today," Nix lazily answered. This morning, her supply of lollipop was zero and she hadn't gotten the chance to buy from the supermarket because she woke up late, as usual.
"Oh? It's a good thing that I have been prepared for instances like this. Here," Veta smiled kindly after she rummaged her bag then gave a pack of chocolate lollipops to the sleepy girl, Nix's favorite brand.
"Thanks, Veta," Nix smiled as she got a lollipop from the pack and stuffed it in her mouth.
"I'll accompany Nix later to buy her supplies. And besides, we were just teasing you, Veta. Don't take it seriously. Just act normally while you're with them," Kora's lips were faking a smile as she calmed her senses. Who knows what trouble they will face when that actually happened.
"I agree with Kora. Veta, you should treat your old friends well, even though they harbor romantic feelings to you. Maybe you could even make them help you in your charity works. The kids would love to see four handsome young boys visit them," Rhy didn't hesitate to sell the four boys to Veta to preserve her own skin.
"I don't see why not. With them helping out, we can increase the number of orphanages we can help!" The expression on Veta's face is of that pure excitement and glee.
"Why didn't I think of that before? Rhy, you're a genius!" Veta excitedly said then grabbed her notebook and pen in her bag to write her next plans.
Rhy, on the other hand, was thinking rapidly.
'Hmm, those four would really want to spend time with Veta more. If I presented this opportunity with them, they'll pay me a lot! Besides earning money, we can help more orphanages, the four can achieve their goals, Veta will be pleased with me and them, and I can save my and Kora's skin! This is hitting a few birds with just one stone! Being with Veta really provided me lots of business opportunities!' she thought as she looked forward to talking to the four to conclude her business with them.
"Ehem, Veta, who do you think will win as the class Escort?" Veta paused her scribblings as Kora disturbed her. She paused then thought to herself for a while before answering.
"I don't know. Anyone will do," then she happily went back to her plans.
The trio looked at each other's eyes for a while before a familiar glint of mischievousness surfaced and was gone in a second.
"Say, if the four were nominated to compete for the Escort title, who will you vote?" Nix asked, as she was the least suspicious of the trio. Her question will be deemed as only curiosity.
"Hmm, for me? It'll be Jio, of course," she nonchalantly answered before going back to her plans.
Puzzled by Veta's answer, the trio huddled together in a corner, not noticed by Veta.
"Who is this 'Jio'? Is there another one who escaped our eyes?" Nix asked, the same as the two, her sleepy demeanor long gone and a tinge of seriousness is present in her face. Although trying very hard not to yawn, she still yawned in the end.
"I've heard clearly that the choices are the four, so only one of them can be this 'Jio'. It must be a nickname of some sorts. We have to remember that the four were childhood friends with Veta, and nicknames are common during that age," Kora said in a matter of fact tone.
"So if that's the matter, then Veta must favor this 'Jio' that much to vote for him. Oh ho ho, I smell trouble," Rhy said and the familiar mischievous glint showed a trace in her eyes before disappearing while a smirk was plastered in her lips.
"Let's not talk about this anymore. Let's just think of a way to support Veta in anything she wanted. Her romantic life is not a matter we can fiddle in carelessly," Nix expressed in a lazy manner. The other two nodded as they looked at Veta who's greatly absorbed at making her plans for the orphanages.
