The Captain reluctantly cancelled the evening"s entertainment. Orders were given to a junior officer to ensure that all passengers remained in their berths due to the deteriorating weather and a rising sea. It would be dangerous to have passengers wandering around on deck in conditions such as this. The weekly Saturday night dance was popular and broke the tedium of shipboard life for passengers and crew alike; everyone would be disappointed.
