They dumped the bags on the bed and the breakfast table by the window, then without a word they both went through to the bathroom and started peeling off their clothes. Remy reached into the over-sized glass-block shower stall and turned on the hot water, then gathered Mari close for a long, gentle hug.
"I thought I'd lost you out there," he murmured against her hair. "It was the most frightening moment of my life."
"Sorry," she mumbled into his chest. "I promise I'll try not to let it happen again."
He stuck an arm into the shower and fiddled with the dial, then when he was satisfied, he stepped inside and drew her with him. They stood under the warm spray of the multiple showerheads almost as if they were at a dance. Their bodies were pressed together and slowly swaying.
