The Wizard

The wizard Philippus Aureolus Theophrastus Bombastus von Hohenheim was born on 11 November 1493 in the tiny mage village of Egg, Switzerland. Philippus was the child of a mixed marriage; his German father was a mage who worked as a magical and mundane physician, while his mundane mother - who died in childbirth - was Swiss. His father moved them to the small town of Villach in Southern Switzerland when Philippus was nine years old. Growing up in that mundane town, young Philippus primarily learned magic including medical magic from his physician father. When he was 16, Philippus left home and moved to Basel Switzerland, where he studied medicine at the University of Basel. On graduation, he then moved to Vienna, where he earned his doctorate degree in 1515.
