The Wizard
The most famous mage was probably the famous Welsh wizard Merlin (Myrddin Emrys), who was born in 452 CE in the small town of Caerfyrddin. Legend states that he was a cambion whose mother was a mortal princess Adhan and whose father was an incubus from whom he inherited special magical powers and abilities. As a young man, Merlin often traveled to Faerie where he studied magic for seven years under the tutelage of the elven sage Elrohir Telperien.
Merlin was the teacher and advisor to King Arthur and his father before him, Uther Pendragon. Merlin was a master of many magical arts and was primarily known for his abilities to foretell the future. He would cast divination spells and use a crystal ball. As a pyromancer who had mastered alomancy, botanomancy, capnomancy, and sideromancy, Merlin would also frequently use fire as the basis of his prophesies.
