Chapter 79: Chapter 79: Willow Wands

A willow wand is any wand that is crafted out of wood from a willow tree. More specifically, a willow wand is any wand that has a willow shaft, a willow handle, or both.

Willow Trees

Willows are vigorous, fast growing, deciduous trees (and shrubs) that can vary greatly in size. Willow trees are commonly recognized by having long, thin leaves that hang from alternating sides of long and flexible whip-like branches that droop towards the ground. Most species will easily take root from cuttings or even broken branches lying on the ground. The roots of most willows are remarkably fibrous, tough, and large, whereby the roots of saplings are frequently larger than the trunks growing from them. Finally, all willows have abundant watery sap that is often used to make a potion for the cure of headaches. Willows are primarily found growing in moist soils in the temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere.
