Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Earth - The Elemental and its Spells

Earth is one of the four primary elementals of classical philosophy and alchemy. The elemental Earth is dominant in and thus strongly associated with:

- Solid objects of all kinds, especially heavy and dense ones

- Geological bodies such as mountains, hills, plains, rocks, and soils

- Things that are heavy

- Things that are green, brown, gray, and black

- Terrestrial mystical creatures (e.g., succubi, unicorns, and Werewolves)

- Terrestrial animals, both wild and domesticated

- Terrestrial plants

- Fertility (both of animals and the soil)

The Alchemical Symbol for the Elemental Earth

Earth wands are made from materials associated with the elemental Earth, especially magical creatures and woods. Earth wands are particularly good at strengthening and focusing Earth spells. Some of the most common Earth spells include spells intended to:

- Control and alter the surrounding landscape

- Cause earthquakes and landslides

- Create caves and cave-ins

- Manipulate the shape, size, and weight of solid objects

- Travel through walls and other barriers

- Create, control (e.g., accelerate growth and flowering), and destroy plants

- Bind people and animals with ivy vines

- Heal or harm people, animals, and plants

- Make people, animals, and land fertile

- Communicate with and control the behavior of land animals

- Transform land animals and plants into other things

- Transform one solid substance into another
