Annuetta watched her father and mother follow Sally down the hall. One of the servants would help them carry the basket out into the field underneath a tree. There would be soft blankets there to keep them warm until the sun warmed them. All f the servants had promised not to tell any of the advisors where the King had gone.
The princess took a book from the library along with a pad of paper and a pencil. She went and sat down in her Father's chair in the meeting room. She rubbed the dent in the table and sighed. She could hardly remember being that bored girl.
While she waited for the advisors to come, she read from her book. When she'd read long enough, she practiced adding numbers like Sir Keith had shown her. He was the first to come in.
"Where's the King?" he asked.
"I gave him the day off," Annuetta said. "Perhaps you can help me with this? I think I'm doing something wrong."
