Chapter 161: Chapter 38 Meeting On Pause

"Are you sure that you don't want to come as well?" Rimuru asked and I just shook my head.

"And sit through you lot talking about more crap I already know? No thanks." I muttered dismissively, causing him to sigh at my nonchalance about the matter.

"Alright, however do you mind if I mention your past a little, I have a feeling that I may have to explain my rebirth at some point so I thought I'd ask now instead of later." Hearing this I hesitated for a second before giving a somewhat reluctant shrug.

"Do whatever you want, I don't care." He didn't seem convinced by that but nodded anyway.

"Alright, try not to cause any trouble while I am gone." I scoffed while pretending to look offended but only got a slight smile in return as he turned and walked away.

Once he was gone I turned my attention to the pink haired girl standing close to me. "Shuna."

"Yes?"

"Send me a telepathic message once dad gets back, I'm leaving for a bit." I yawned as I opened a rift and walked through.

"Very well, lady Suu."

With that I left and returned to my secret experiment room. Normally I would have stayed just in case something happened but it was fine, I definitely haven't gotten paranoid and hidden multiple clones around Tempest...I'd never do that...

"Alright then." I sighed with a stretch.

With that done and out of the way I put my hand onto the familiar sphere that hovered over my manner supplier and entered the pocket world within. "Let's get to experimenting shall we."

The moment I entered my pocket world I got to work replacing the default black void with something more interesting. I created a floating island surrounded by an endless sea of clouds. The island itself was around thirty to forty kilometers in size but larger and smaller islands could be seen in the far off distance. Continuing on from there I filled the place with various types of non dangerous plants, except for a few poisonous ones, as well as multiple ponds and lakes of various sizes. Wildlife was next, birds, insects, rabbits, deers, wolves, bears and whatever else I could think of at the time. The whole process took about an hour or so of work but outside only a few short minutes had passed.

"Now that I have a foundation, let's see just how realistic I can make this place." I hummed quietly before a thought entered my mind.

(I should probably get the background sorted out first, I need some kind of story after all, something to drive the plot forward...)

(Let's just go with something simple for now, no need to make it over complicated when there's no point.) I hummed as I summoned a holographic panel to take some notes

(Remember me, keep it simple.)

<<A village that hovers above the clouds slowly begins to notice that over the course of a few days corpses from the cemetery as well as people from the surrounding area are starting to go missing on mass. Twisted creatures are found roaming the lands, their bodies are a warped mockery of their former selves. Animals, people, monsters, all thrown and stitched together in a chimeric fusion of flesh. It doesn't take them long to realize it's the work of a rather sadistic and insane necromancer. If he isn't found and stopped the village will be overrun with undead.>> I typed away before pausing for a second.

After some contemplation I decided to try and add a kind of rule to the simulation itself, I knew that I could alter the environment as well as the illusions within it, so why couldn't I change how parts of the pocket world worked? I added that once the village had managed to kill the evil mage the simulation would end and if the necromancer actually ended up killing everyone then it would reset back to the very beginning. After testing a few things to understand it more I was surprised to see that it actually worked out the way I wanted. Seeing this I decided that I would eventually add several villagers who would slowly regain their memories of the past resets as time went on.

(With this I should be able to see how they can adapt as time goes on.) I was quite hopeful that this would all work out.

(Hopefully they do well though, this will affect all of my future plans depending on how well it goes after all.) I sighed inwardly before looking back to the holographic screen

(Let's add a few more things to this though...)

<<A village that hovers in the clouds, one that is blessed by a long forgotten and dead god slowly begins to notice that over the course of a few days corpses from the cemetery as well as people from the surrounding area are starting to go missing on mass. Twisted creatures are found roaming the lands, their bodies are a warped mockery of their former selves. Animals, people, monsters, all thrown and stitched together in a chimeric fusion of flesh. It doesn't take them long to realize it's the work of a rather sadistic and insane necromancer that wishes to take control of the god's body that secretly lays under the village. If he isn't found and stopped the village will be overrun with undead and he will very likely succeed in his mission. However something is off, every time the village is destroyed the world itself seems to reset back to how it was a day before the necromancer began his plan. Even odder is that every time the village is wiped out some people regain small parts of memories from the previous resets.>>

"That should do." I muttered as I searched for a place to get started.

Without much effort on my part, considering I did make the whole damn place after all, I found a spot in a large forest that seemed good enough for what I wanted at the time. Warping the space around myself I instantly appeared above said location and with a wave of my hand a withered old man in black and dark blue robes appeared.

He had various strange markings carved into his skin, he had several vials and medical tools strapped to his body and was holding some kind of staff made of many types of bones that were fused and twisted together. The staff itself was also covered in hundreds of small glowing red symbols that had no actual meaning, I just added them for visual effect.

Behind this man an old broken fort appeared, the walls around it were crumbling and the interior was a complete mess. Underneath this fort however I added a massive underground basement with various kinds of torture tools and rusted medical equipment as well as books on biology and necromancy.

Finally turning back to the old man I gave him various false memories, I even gave him certain abilities and powers that I believed would be interesting yet not too overwhelming. With that I snapped my fingers and watched, I watched as the necromancer suddenly shifted and twisted before looking around with a rather confused expression at the environment around him. After a moment he just smiled, the kind of crooked smile that most insane supervillains had, he then turned and headed towards the fort.

"Now I just need to make the village and the people inhabiting it." I mused before turning away.

(Hmmm...where to put them?)
