Chapter 104: Chapter 49 The Calm Before The Storm
'So what is going on over there?'
'Well... it would seem that the cult is finally attacking us, no, it's more accurate to say that they are starting to drastically set up way more defenses near our borders. From the small bits of information that we have been over hearing, they're trying their best to slow us down and stop us from disturbing their precious little ritual' Mika explained from the other side of the link we had set up using Thought communication.
It has been about three days since our little meeting and things were heating up just a little. The cult in their now growing desperation have started building defenses along the borders like crazy and honestly, I'm a little impressed with how fast they are building fortifications, not that it will matter in the end but still, I'm a little surprised.
'It seems that everything is going as we planned it would' I said calmly as I nodded my head and smiled
'I still think this plan is a little risky, I mean you won't have any back up for quite some time' she wasn't the only one that wasn't quite on board with the plan I came up with but we just didn't have the time for anything else, after all, if the info we have is right then the cults ritual will finish any day now.
'I'll be fine'
'What happens if you end up getting found out?' She still sounded a little unsure and I couldn't really blame her but it would be fine, I'm an immortal after all.
'Why do you think that I'm taking that... that thing with me. Once I let it run wild they will be way too busy trying their best to deal with that to even notice little old me before it's too late' I took a moment to glance over at the creepy ass cabin in the corner of the room before quickly shaking my head and turning away.
'Also, if you're really that bothered about It then you will just have to move quickly and get over to me before anything happens, won't you?'
'Sigh... fine, I'll go a long with this stupid plan but you better no that I'm not happy about it' she grumbled and I could sense her annoyance from the other side of the link.
'Noted' I couldn't help but smile a little as I cut the link off, it is nice to have people around that worry about you.
"Is everything going well on their end?" Kaen, who was currently leaning up against tha wall next to the door asked the moment he noticed I had cut off the link.
"It's going exactly as we planned actually" I said getting a satisfied nod in return.
"It seems that our neighbour is very annoyed with us at the moment, something about us taking over his property" I said making him chuckle darkly.
"It's about time he noticed" Kaen spoke while grinning to myself.
"Anyway, it went just as you and Fuyuko said that it would. They are currently putting most of their efforts into increasing their defences, it seems that they're really starting to panic now that there is nothing between us and their final foot hold" I explained while stretching out my body a little.
"I think that their basterd of a leader honestly thought that we wouldn't have ever gotten this far. He probably thought that we would be wiped out in a month at most, I'm actually a little sad I didn't get to see his face when he found out we had taken over most of the area in such a short amount of time" even though Kaen usually acts calm and somewhat lazy he was currently showing off his more darker side as he was now leaking a large amount of violent killing intent.
"Maybe now he will finally get off that pedestal of his and stop thinking he's so damn untouchable. I mean seriously, he hasn't even counter attacked us even once and he is only just now increasing his defences. Does he really think that poorly of us or is he just a fucking idiot?" I asked bringing Kaen back to his senses and causing him to suppress his killing intent and sigh to himself.
"I've never had the "pleasure" of meeting the guy in person so I wouldn't know what he is thinking, however, I think he's probably more arrogant than stupid. Anyway, have you finished with our little surprise?"
"Yes, yes I have. In fact, I honestly can't wait to see their faces when they see what we have prepared for them" I grinned and Kaen just chuckled again while slightly shaking his head.
"Even though they will be rather useful some people aren't exactly happy about it, after all, having to fight side by side with them definitely isn't exactly a pleasant thought to say the least"
"Well, just tell everyone to think of them as meat shields because that what I made them for, their not intelligent and their souls are not all that complex. So to put it simply, their nothing more then cannon fodder" I shrugged while yawning loudly.
"Fair enough" after he said that we both went quiet for a long moment before he asked something else.
"How are your enhancements going?"
"I've massively increased my bone and muscle density, the speed of my blood flow has increased as well, my oxygen intake and digestion has also been greatly enhanced. I've also managed to find a way to increase my natural regeneration and my brain's ability to process, handle and react to large amounts of information. I even made a thin but dense bone like armour that partially protects most of my organs while still allowing me to function and move properly without any problems" I nonchalantly listed off all the crap that I had added to myself in these past few days.
"Basically, even if I were to now suddenly lose all of my abilitys, skills and abruptly become human out of no where, I could still technically be conceited superhuman" I explained with a tired look on my face.
"Wouldn't all your enhancements also disappear if you did end up losing all of your skills and abilities?" Kaen asked not really understanding.
"Nope" I answered simply but the "really" look he gave me earned him a somewhat annoyed eye roll before I reluctantly continued.
"I thought the same as you, at first anyway. However, later I realized that the changes that I made too my body are actually permanent"
"How did I find this out you may be asking. Well, I'll tell you but don't spread this information around, I'm not just saying this because Fuyuko and the others won't be happy about it and I don't want them lecturing me about safety... again" I said causing Kaen to look at me concerned.
"What did you do?"
"I cut my own arm off" I responded rather bluntly.
"You what?!" Kaen quickly stood straight while looking at me with both shock and concern
"It regenerated afterwards" I shrugged not really caring all that much.
"That's besides the point"
"Dude, I'm literally an immortal undying Phoenix, a little self mutilation won't hurt me at all. Anyway, were getting off topic so let's just move on already" seeing that I didn't want to continue this line of conversation he reluctantly dropped it for now.
"All the enhancements that I had added to the arm regenerated with it. Following this I ended up doing several more... less "harmful" experiments and I actually found out something rather interesting. To put it simply, all the enhancements I make, no matter how crazy they may be, are treated by the body as if they had always been there since birth"
"That is interesting... however, can you use it on creatures like the Magma golems and Living armours, I mean they don't have body's of flesh and blood so would it work on them?" Kaen hummed thoughtfully to himself.
"I... have no idea, I haven't tested that yet"
(It might be possible, I mean the skill is called Mastery of form not Mastery of flesh. I guess that I have something else to test later) I thought while mentally adding it to the list of things that I needed to do.
"Well, I've got to get going now anyway so I'll figure it out later" I properly stretched as I stood up.
"Where too?"
"I promised Elisabeth that I would go and take a look at the Hive's nest. I honestly think that she is just trying to show off" I smiled while rubbing the back of my head awkwardly.
"Probably" Kaen smirked as most people had caught on that the Elizabeth see me as some kind of supreme being much to my extraordinarily immense annoyance and embarrassment.
"By the way, have you heard that Poe has been giving her flowers recently, it so damn cute" I said trying to drop the very embarrassing subject.
"Wait... really?"
"Yep, it's fucking adorable"
"Huh... a giant murderous fear obsessed bear that can turn into a cute plushie and the Queen of an insectoid monster hive... never saw that coming, I'm not gonna lie" Kaen show a somewhat stunned expression as he said that.
"Me neither but you know what? I'm still really proud for some reason" I smiled happily.
"Is it because you're a proud mother watching her little boy who has grown up so fast?"
"Sh-shut up!" I yelled while turning slightly red only for Kaen to laugh.
"Haha, you should probably get going now" he reminded me as I glared at him.
"Right" I said before walking to leave, as I did I turned back around and flipped him off with both hands.
"And fuck you!" Kaen only laughed in response.
