"Let's eat!" We all enthusiastically exclaimed before we began to eat our food.
Right now, we're at a restaurant in the Rabenda City Mall. We just finished exploring the Rides section of the mall outside. There's a rollercoaster, a log ride, and one of those rides that launch in the air then immediately will fall, and so it goes.
We all ordered the same meal. A tray of lasagna good for three, three cherry sodas, small cheeseburgers, and one apple pie.
"Man, these have so many calories," Juwan says as he takes a large piece of lasagna. "But hey, it's been a while since I treated myself with food, so why not?"
"Yeah, you're going to need to refill that stomach after all of that puking," Hanzo says, then we both laugh.
After taking on those three rides, Juwan was extremely nauseated and we quickly took him to the public restroom, where he puked nonstop.
"Ha ha, very funny," Juwan was a little annoyed. He took a bite of the lasagna. We did as well.
We talked about our life in high school and how we got into the university. He decided to study in Tokyo for high school because his mom was working there and he was not that financially independent at that time, unlike today. He was also a part of the cheer squad in high school, and that's why he was here. When he was around his last year of high school, their school joined the National Cheer Competition that was held here in Rabenda City, in the Gym of the University of Rabenda. Of course, the dean would be there, scouting for potential students, along with the university administration. They recognized his flexibility, athleticism, and enthusiasm, so they offered him a scholarship. Luckily, he was deciding to study there for college, so it didn't take him time to think about it. Right now, he's majoring in Dance, and he is also the captain of the University of Rabenda's cheer squad.
"So you also do ballet in your course?" I asked Juwan.
"Yeah," he replies as he sips on his cherry soda. "It's a core subject. Besides, my balance and coordination have improved ever since I started that class. Heck, I might even be good enough to do figure skating."
Hanzo smiles. "I dare you."
"Huh? I was just joking!"
"Nah, you're not," Hanzo began to tease him, He was laughing. "I double dare you."
Hanzo kept teasing him, and Juwan was a little annoyed, but somehow, he's laughing.
"Anyways, changing the topic," Juwan places the cup of soft drink on the table that he was drinking before. "Any facts or hidden talents that I can know about?"
His face has this look of curiosity of some sort. His eyes are narrow and he was smiling. "Huh? Huh?" His eyebrows raise every time he says 'Huh?'
Hanzo and I looked at each other. We were thinking the same thing. Should we tell him?
Juwan noticed that we were communicating through our minds and that there were doubts. "Oh come on, guys. You can trust me. If it's too personal, then it's okay, don't tell me."
I took a deep breath. "Well, if I would tell you, you wouldn't believe me."
"Hmm? Why is that?" He asked. "Is it something that is hard to believe?"
"Plus," Hanzo added. "You might get scared if we tell you."
"Huh? Why would it be scary? Why would I be scared?" Juwan remembers that time in the gym when he met Hanzo. "Is it because I got scared of the horror anime you showed me? Hey, that was one time! I am not a scaredy-cat!"
Hanzo narrows his eyes as if he were saying 'really?'
"Okay, I am a teeny tiny bit of a scaredy-cat. But that's not the topic!"
I sighed. "Okay, fine. But you have to believe me, okay? And don't tell anyone. For now."
Juwan nods. "What is it?"
We all closed in the middle of the table. And in a whisper, I said, "I can see ghosts."
Juwan quickly pulled away from us, almost jumping from his seat. "E-eh?! G-ghost?!"
"You believed that easy, huh?" I said.
"Of course, I do!" He exclaimed in a whisper. "Remember the guy that died last night? That was obviously the cause of a ghost or a Yokai!"
"Wait, how did you know that?" I was a little surprised that he knows that.
"Wait, I was right?" He was dumbfounded. "I was just guessing."
"Well, yes," I replied. "A Yokai did that. It was the work of Ittan-Momen. A Yokai that's a roll of cotton that kills anyone."
Juwan looks at me weirdly.
"What?" I said.
"Okay wait, how did you know that?"
"Okay, I'll explain it to you later, but all I can say is, it's my job to know about this Yokai and I have to stop it from killing any more people."
Juwan's hands were on his head. "This is too much to process. Hanzo, you weren't this surprised when you found out?"
"Not really," Hanzo says, "Kazu used to see ghosts when we were young, so I wasn't that surprised when he can see them again."
"This is too much to process," He took a bite of his burger. "Also, yes, I'm a little scared."
We both laugh. "Same," I replied. "When I realized that I can also see Yokai, it made me hard to believe at first because normal ghosts? Understandable. Yokai that can potentially kill you? What?"
Looks like Juwan became a little more scared of what I said. "Don't worry Juwan. I know how to ward off evil Yokai. I can protect you."
He breathed in relief. Hanzo and I laugh.
Again, I felt an unwanted presence that I felt in the anime store earlier nearby. I looked around to see what it was. There was nothing. I looked at the restaurant entrance because the feeling was coming there.
Still nothing.
