Chapter 25: Rushing
"Hey you think you can get off my back yet?"
"I still can't move yet remember?"
"Of course you can! Just inch around!"
"That's impractical!"
"Hey speaking of which, isn't your buddy acting kinda strange?""
"What do you mean? Seems ok to me."
"You sure? Can you even see?"
"I can sense things!"
"Yeah but can you see the redness in his eyes and how he's staring at us?"
"I can't see color. What did you expect! I sense vibrations through the air! Of course the waves aren't going to be perfectly clear when i get them!"
"Where are your eyes?"
"What eyes?"
"Those things you use to read your book!"
"Those things? I can barely see anything that's not next to me!"
"Well, you can tell that your buddy's chewed through the wall right?"
"Sure I can!"
"Hah! Tricked you! He just barely fit his head in!"
"What! You know the vibrations are blocked by the wall!"
"Hey look! He's gotten his shoulders through! Should be quite fast from here! That hole should be already done though… I wonder what your bff is doing…"
"Hey! He's not my friend!"
A paw flew at them with its long claws extended. It loomed over above the two before it dropped down, scoring the hard shell with several scratch marks before the claws slid down and crushed the cockroach's head. The head fell clean off, rolling towards the mole on the dirtied plastic floor before being snatched and swallowed in a panic.
"Alejandros?"
Once again the paw rose but as it was coming down, threads rose up to embrace it, covering it entirely like a glove. The threads offered no resistance to the paw that had its claws protruding out like knitting needles in a ball of yarn. They swung down, creating another set of claw marks on the shell of the cockroach.
"Hold on Alejandros! The acid needs some time to mix!"
Through several hollow threads which wrapped around the paw pumped several chemicals, several of which mixed to form a light acid immediately, As they wore through the thin walls of the threads, they were exposed to the second set of chemicals which then continued on to vaporize the surface of the paw. As the acid dissolved more and more, the threads fell away to reveal all had dissolved but the bones which were left sparkling white as a milky liquid dripped away.
The bones however, were soon dirtied as blood spurted out and over the bones and ligaments which connected each bone to bone and bone to claw. The red liquid slowly coagulated into a dark red solid which continued growing and building on itself as it slowly formed another paw. This only caused the mole to pause for a moment before it continued to fall down to the still and slowly drying corpse of the cockroach.
The threads began to swarm the upper body of the mole, turning it into a mummy that flailed its limbs around due to the lack of vision and other senses. Soon the wrappings of the mummy fell lose to drop down a splash of milky liquid as the front body consisting of only a while skeleton fell limp.
The threads rose back up again to press against the stump that was still exposed and to wrap firmly around the bone that was secreting red. The body of the mole fell back and out of the hole it created as there was nothing holding it in place anymore. Soon the threads stretched to wrap entirely around the mole that still had its feet kicking. Each thrust of a leg gave way to nothing as the threads only wrapped around and didn't constrain the movements of the mole.
What was left now was a mummified skeleton with threads leading to a ball of yarn atop a dried cockroach corpse without a head that was unmoving.
The belly of the cockroach crackled as more and more of the liquids inside were absorbed. As the belly split apart due to the corpse drying up too fast, out came a smaller, identical cockroach with a new set of balls.
"Hey look at me! I got my balls back!"
"Yeah well your shell's looking pretty soft right now!"
"Don't worry! Just let my bite away at it!"
"I don't know if we have that much time! The humans have to have noticed the break through to have slammed the doors!"
"You could see that?"
"I can hear just fine! Seeing is a bit difficult though..."
"How about you drink up your milk and ill eat my shell!"
"That'll take a while…"
"Don't worry! We're not trapped in here, they're trapped outside!"
"Speaking of which, where's Senny? Also trapped outside?"
"You can trust Senny to get out!"
"And how would he do that Alejandros?"
"He'll just dig right through!"
"Through dirt? He hates it!"
"Worms eat dirt!"
"More importantly, how do we get out?"
"Hey those tubes of colorful liquids look pretty nice don't you think?"
"Don't run away from my question Alejandros!"
"You wanna try one of these?"

"Urghhh… Leonard… How much did we drink… Leonard?"
*Doo doo doot do do doot dooo doot*
"John… That's yours right?"
"It's closer to you though… Wanna pick it up for me?"
"Both lying on the ground here man… Barely any further from it than you are…"
"Argha… Hellooo? Yeah… this is Jo ~awww~ hn… phew… I'm a bit d~drunk. Huh? Whaaa? Yeah… Give me a second… Lemme get that serum…"
John walked up a stainless steel door that when he opened it, a cold mist fell out and spread on the floor. On the inside of the door were several racks, with the topmost rack having several small bottles of a clear liquid. Taking out a bottle, John unscrewed the cap and downed the entire bottle at once, scrunching up his face at the taste.
"Alright, now tell me what happened. Laboratory broken into! Who broke out? You don't know? What do you mean you don't know! Did you get the security footage? Huh, have it waiting for me when I get there, I might be able to recognize what that animal is."
"Hey Leonard! Get up! Emergency!"
John took out another bottle and tossed it at Leonard who was lying on the ground. It hit Leonard in his stomach and bounced to the side."
"Hey! What was that for!"
"Drink up! We need to get to the lab right now!"
"Ewh, disgusting. Why couldn't they make it taste better?"
"Who knows, but there's been a breakout at the lab!"
"What? What broke out?"
"Alarms were tripped at my lab cage, but security footage shows a blurry animal they haven't identified yet. We're going to help the police."
"Have they checked the footage in the main holding area?"
"I would assume not, they never mentioned it."
"Dammit, just as we were about to be famous."
"Well we're gonna be famous, maybe not in the way we thought though…"
"Why do you live so close to the lab!"
"Saves on transportation time, now lets go!"
