Chapter 11: Carl

"A friend is one that knows you as you are, understands where you have been, accepts what you have become, and still, gently allows you to grow."

- - -

Just as the various players, teams, and parties were trying to have first kills or achievements to have their name or team known or famous, three consecutive System Announcements immediately attracted the attention of every player in the Gemini Continent.

Since the opening of the open-beta, there are only ten system announcements. People who were in the system announcements became instantly famous or being recruited by large guilds.

So if a player made his name anonymous, it's either the player didn't want his name to be known or the player doesn't have money to show his name.

It's known to everyone the requirements to put your name in the announcement is one silver.

When all the players heard of this System Announcement, they were first filled with shock, but they were soon cheering and shouting in the forums. It's just too crazy to kill a level 10 Elite Boss monster solo at this period.

Most players thought that the player who made his name anonymously has no money. But the intelligent players know that Lydro intentionally put his name anonymously. Because they know that the drops from the monster he killed must have silver coins.

Most players know that killing an Elite Boss Monster is difficult at the moment.

It's only fifteen hours (in the game) after the opening of open-beta and the highest level player is currently level 9. It's only because of his guild farming non-stop and making him do the last hit so he can gain 50% of Exp.

In EoVT, the person who delivers the final blow to the monster could obtain 50% of the EXP provided by this monster.

This had caused a lot of players in the early stage who liked to snatch monsters and also make rich players hire players to form and farm for them and let the rich players deliver the final blow to the monster.

Lydro knows how hard to farm in the populous town, so Lydro has chosen Wodah's kingdom since this kingdom is one of the least populated kingdoms in the early stages.

Lydro is already level 5, as he is only playing for about an hour. From the rewards of the system, the chest, and the drop of the Mutated Horned Rabbit, he got 20 Gold coins and 29 Silver coins! He also got +22 Attribute Points and +5 Skill points overall!

Every level up, you will be given +4 stat points and 1 skill point by the system. Except for every level five, you will get +6 stat points and +2 skill points.

But if you level up two times directly, you'll be awarded two bonus attribute points.

Lydro put +10 in his intelligence, +6 in his vitality, +3 in his agility, and +3 in his endurance.

Lydro learned Mana Perception from a skill stone from the copper chest.

Can perceive the mana available in the local area.

Cooldown: 5 minutes ]

After checking everything is in order, he goes back to the town.

Lydro is thinking that he doesn't need to do a hunting quest anymore. In the town, there are different Exp farms there.

Now that he's level 5, he can go to the 'Training Grounds' now.

It's also the best time to take the test in the tower to get some new skills and rewards.

Every town has Beginner Schools and Training Grounds. They are the guidelines for every beginner.

They're always in the north on either towns or cities and always beside one another.

Beginner Schools is where you take classes of how to fight, learn about The Gemini Continent, learn things to must know, and things to what to do.

Schools were not in closed beta, but there were training grounds.

The schools are not required. They are meant for beginners who take their time to learn about EoVT. You can learn skills in school, but it takes time to gain one.

When learning in school, you also gain Exp's. But, it's quite slow and it's faster to do some errands and farm.

You can choose what type of class you would like or you can take every class. It's quite practical and effective as the time in the game is two times slower.

It usually takes 5 hours minimum per lesson.

Training Grounds is where different kinds of training and training fields you would find. There are rooms that you could fight monsters, archery rooms with unlimited arrows, a room that tests your reactions, etc.

The goal of EoVT fantasy/gaming world is to make everyone stronger, healthier, and knowledgeable.

The creators also wanted the game to be fair, practical, and competitive.

The four worlds of EoVT managed to dominate the market in a year, and it became to be the second world to the whole world. (1)

Every world in EoVT managed to attract people of different ages and occupations.

It was viewed as merely a form of entertainment for a year, but within 3 years, it will become an important and irremovable part of human life.

On the training grounds, there's a tower. To enter the tower, you need to pay 10 bronze coins and need to be above level 5 and below level 10.

There's no tower in closed-beta, so no one knows that the tower has great rewards.

The tower can be only entered once. However, if you go to the other town's tower, you can also enter it once as long as your level is not above level 10.

He promptly arrived at the town gate and went to the gatekeeper who gave Lydro quest, [ Kill the Frenzied Horned Rabbit ] to turn in the quest.

[ Kill the Frenzied Horned Rabbit quest completed! ]

[ You have received 3 bronze coins and 200 Exp! ]

[ You have been rewarded 100 Reputation Points in Wodah's kingdom! ]

[ As the first player who killed a Frenzied Horned Rabbit, you have been awarded an additional 100 Reputation Points in Wodah's kingdom! ]

"Nice!" Lydro exclaimed. Lydro thanked the gatekeeper and bid his goodbye.

Then, he went to the blacksmith to turn in the second quest he got from the blacksmith.

- [ Blacksmith Request ]: Give him the claws and the horn of a Frenzied Rabbit. -

The blacksmith thanked and asked Lydro what he wants as a reward. Lydro got a system notice and had to choose from money, fame, equipment, or weapon.

Lydro chose a weapon. After 5 minutes, he got a short staff.

[ Frenzy Staff (Grey Rank Weapon, Short Staff)

Requirements: Level 5, Strenght 5

Weapon Level: 5

Attack Power +10

+ 10 Intelligence, + 3 Defence, - 2 Agility

Durability: 50/50 ]

In Lydro's past life, his main weapon is always a short staff or a spear.

Short Staffs are short and light. They are easy to transport, easy to carry around to practice, and very decent for baton-style moves. Lots of little spins around the place. Not so good for contact, because they are not very heavy, but it is possible.

They also need to be pushed a lot which means to keep the spin going you need to exert a lot more force.

Lydro mainly supports and mid-range attacker, he just needs a decent staff that is very compatible with him, has decent skills, and have good mana regeneration.

After getting his staff, Lydro went to Elie's house to turn in his quest.

- [ Find Elie's Father Corpse! ]: Find Elie's Father Corpse in Grey Forest. -

Lydro found Elie easily, he gave the corpse and the treasures of Elie's father.

Elie cried and said while sobbing to Lydro, "Thank you very much Mr. Adventurer! 'sob' You have found my father's corpse in a short time and haven't even touch any treasures of my family."

"If you have touched it and didn't give me the corpse and the treasures in time, you would have been cursed by my father even if you are immortal."

"As a Noble in Wodah's kingdom, I'll reward you 5 Gold, and a title 'Virtuous Noble'."

[ You have received 5 Gold coins, a skill 'Precision', 200 Exp, and the title 'Virtuous Noble'! ]

[ Virtuous Noble (Rare Title)

A title uniquely for player Lydro, who is a very noble and virtuous player. Given by Elie Rothstein of Wodah's Kingdom.

- 10% off in shops of Wodah's Kingdom. (If the shop is illegal then the title will not work.)

+ 200 Reputation Points in Wodah's kingdom

Cannot be upgraded. ]

[ Precision (Active Skill, Rare Skill)

Level: 1/10

Casts an aura that adds accuracy and critical strike chance to the caster and nearby allies.

Increased Critical Chance by 2%.

Increased Accuracy Rating by 3%.

Duration: 10 secs

Cooldown: 5 minutes]

'Tf!' Lydro exclaimed in a surprise in his mind. 'This quest is too worthwhile! In my past life, they only reward 5 Gold and a common skill, but my skill is a rare skill! There is also a title!'

'This 'Precision' skill is also a very rare skill and might cost hundreds or thousands of Gold coins!'

Then, a system notice came again:

[ Your Reputation Points in Wodah's Kingdom is over 500! Now you can go to any City Hall in any city in Wodah's kingdom to register to be a Lord in Wodah's Kingdom! ]

In EoVT, if your reputation in a kingdom reaches a minimum of Reputation Points, you can register in the City Hall to become the lowest level of Nobility, Lord/Lady! (2)

Lydro's Reputation Points in Wodah's Kingdom is now 500.

It's because of the title that grants him 200 points, also 200 points from killing the first Frenzied Horned Rabbit, and 100 continental points from killing a Mutated Monster.

After that, Lydro also thanked Elie and bid his goodbye to her.

When Lydro is on the way to Butcher's shop, a guy suddenly appeared in front of Lydro and said, "Hi!"

Lydro didn't know this guy, but he looks quite rich and exquisite with his looks and equipment.

"Are you Italian?" asked the guy.

Lydro replied, "I am, I live in Northern Italy, why?"

The man got startled and said happily "Oh, I'm Italian too! But I do live in Sicilia (Southern part of Italy). Now it's nice that I finally found an Italian in this town! I've been in this town since the opening, I don't speak English, knew no one, and surprisingly no Italian! Most people here are Americans or Chinese."

And then he added, "But thanks to the system passive translation, it translates me directly and managed to join a party. But when I saw you, you looked exactly like an Italian! You also looked like an expert, would you like to join my party? Please?? Anyway, I'm Carl, a level 6 Warrior!"

Lydro is quite surprised about how loquacious Carl is, and said "I'm Lydro. I'm interested in your team, but I have something to do right now, Sorry."

Then Lydro added, "You can add me, by the way, where are you farming?"

Lydro asked because he needed to change the topic and he is interested where people farm as he didn't see many people in the plain.

"We're farming in one of the preparation dungeons, Wind Cemetery!" Carl replied.

Preparation Dungeons is a level 0-10 dungeons and there are overall 10 of them. Every town has always these 10 preparation dungeons and Wind Cemetery is the hardest dungeons among them.

So Lydro is quite surprised about that, he asked Carl, "The Wind Cemetery is a hard dungeon, why go there?"

When Carl heard Lydro, he was surprised about how Lydro knows it, "That's true, but my team is prepared."

Carl is thinking that the man in front of him is a closed beta tester, he knows the Wind Cemetery is the hardest dungeon, but he dismissed that idea because beta testers can only join the game in three days. So Lydro must have a beta tester Infos liked him.

Trying to be mysterious, Carl said while grinning "You must have some Infos of closed beta testers like me."

"Also, your status. I can't see your status? Is it because of your skill or equipment?"

Lydro also said, "My equipment has an effect, so the system 'Inspect' skill cannot see it."

"Oh, cool! Where did you get it?" Replied Carl.

Lydro didn't reply so Carl said, "By the way, you looked like a veteran, sorry to disturb you. My in-game name is Carlll with three 'l' in the end. I'll add you."

Lydro just said "ok" and just stand as he says nothing while Carl departed.

Lydro is thinking who is this guy, as he is quite familiar to him.

(1) - The game can also be played while sleeping and also the EoVT consists of 4 worlds.

The Music and Dance World

The United World (or the Second Earth)

And The Fantasy World! (Or the Gaming World)

(2) - Nobility: Lord/Lady, Baron, Viscount, Count, Marquis/Earl, Duke, Archduke, Grand Duke, King, and Emperor.

CREATORS' THOUGHTS

This chapter took me a while to write...

This is probably my worst and longest chapter...

Sorry, I couldn't write in the morning and was too lazy to write at night. So yeah...

By the way, if you are new in this novel, there are only 3-5 chapters every week.

Have some idea about my story? Comment it and let me know.
