Days past, Nights felt long. He began to feel the same emptiness as before. Others would flee when they saw him. Screaming, terrified. So he had no where to go. He couldn't spend as much time above the water as he could before. He dried out too quickly. Though, through time, he began to realise there was more to this form than he first thought.
For one he began realising that during the nights he could once again retain his normal form. At first it was only for a short amount of time, but as he continued to practice, he realised he could hold it from dusk until dawn, until this curse that had been placed upon him, would once again overcome him.
The second thing he came to discover was a way to break it. When he would rest, he would begin to hear singing. The girl who helped him before, and the one who placed the curse on him. Her angelic voice would ring through his dreams;
"Ye who harm but know no pain. Who only take, but know no give. You the long lost wandering royalty, will only fall deeper, until you embrace an equals kiss."
For months he would hear this and wonder about it's meaning. Deciphering it the best he could the only conclusion he could come to was, he needed a princesses kiss? Even then this was a theory that threw much caution to the wind.
One day he found himself drifting around the coasts of a large mainland. Simply observing, lost in thought. That was until he suddenly found himself being swooped up. Snapped out of thought, he struggled, though without hands, he found it difficult. He felt himself drying out as thick, wrapped ropes lifted him over, onto the boat of a human. He could have struggled. But he didn't. If his life were to end here, he didn't much care.
Though, this wasn't quite what fate had in store for him. The humans continued to pour water over him. Keeping him hydrated enough to stay alive. He felt his surroundings bobbing up and down, he could hear the sea. but his senses began to pick up more.
Before he knew it, he was being lifted again. Into a confined space of water that just barely fit him. He couldn't move, and suddenly, darkness. He tried transforming to his original form, but could not. So this darkness didn't mean it was night time. He felt a sinking feeling in his heart. This, is what the girl before called, Fear.
After some time, he could hear a clack, before suddenly a light blinded him. The confined space in which he had been imprisoned in, was dragged out and he felt himself tipping, falling, until he was in a large body of water. But this water felt like no sea. There was no movement, no normal life. It was cramped as he shared the space with many other creatures, none were like him though. With no clue of where or what he was doing he just swam.
Three Years passed and he began to pick up on a lot. He learnt of human language, customs, personalities and more. All whilst keeping his true identity a secret. He felt it would be best not to scare them further, realising he was quite the oddity in this tank of predators. He came to know of all those whom attended to their needs. Feeding them, caring for them and more. Most were just faces, all except for one.
A girl, whom could only have been but a princess... named Aoi.
