WALTER ASANO's POV
I don't know how long it's been since I've last monologued in my mind but it's been quite a while.
Now, you may be curious about the events the past few days. Now a quick summary is: my mother got arrested, the school I used to go to got shut down and I got adopted by an old man.
"How you feeling, Walter?", The old man asked me.
"I'm fine, Masamune.", I replied back to the old man, or Masamune. Masamune's full name is Masamune Sugito, and he's the one who adopted me.
"Bah! Just call me Jii-chan.", He replied back to me.
Currently we're on a plane and heading to Japan, but first we're heading to Kyoto so Sugito can find a friend he wanted to speak to.
Hmm... I guess another thing I forgot, I'm no longer Walter Asano, but now I'm Masamune Walter. I also know what my features are: really-dark brown hair that borders to black, blue eyes and - when not bruised or injured - slightly pale skin. Overall, I look slim and my face is below handsome and cute but higher than 'above average'.
My skin had already been doused in medication and so on, so I'm practically healed now.
"Alt-kun.", Sugito called me.
"Yes, Sug-- Jii-chan.", I need to get into the habit of saying the honorific because in England we don't show much respect in terms of casual talk, but in Japan they're serious as fuck. I remember when I called a random Japanese person by his name because I wanted him out the toilet, he gave me death stares.
"Haha... Don't try too hard, we can ease you into it.", he laughed off my struggling and then continued "What's your dream?", he asked me.
I steeled my eyes and looked him directly in the eyes.
"I want to be a swordsman."
My answer made him tilt his eyebrow but then he continued asking questions.
"Why?"
I sighed and then answered with the truth sprinkled with lies.
"Everyday I have dreams of a simple swordsman fighting monsters.", I answered back.
"And that's reason enough?", He inquired to which I nodded.
"I see... I see... Then how would you like to practice swordsmanship with my daughter - your sister - when we get back.", He replied.
I could feel my eyes practically shine as I questioned him.
"Can I really?", To my inquiring he smiled and patted my head.
"Of course you can."
I smiled brightly and just relaxed my head on the plane seat while closing my eyes. Sadly, I can't use any of my sword techniques without accidently killing myself, so I guess I'll need to build up muscles. Then, I'll need to build up my muscle memories. Lastly, I might want to relearn how to control mana and qiqong again. I've got the knowledge and the will power, but I don't have the actual body memories, and the correct control over my senses due to the influx of my previous life's memories.
Now that I realise it, did Simple Dragon reincarnated too or was it just me? Or did he go to a different world than me? I'm pretty sure this isn't the same world as my last, because in this world it seems there's only humans and the technology is too far back. In terms of technology my world was higher, but in terms of safety this world rises by leaps and bounds. The technological level is so different that it's like comparing a pebble with a mountain.
Although, I do like this world better. It's safe, I can still use mana and qiqong, there's no racial discrimination - or at least not in this time period - and lastly, there's entertainment.
My world did have higher technology, however the entertainment was so barren that even comparing it to a desert isn't reasonable enough. We did have virtual reality - which I am hoping to replicate for obvious reasons - but that was used for training and building muscle memory.
My smile grew wider as I thought:
'Looks like I can have entertainment and train the sword! What else could be more perfect?'
After a while of waiting the plane had finally landed.
"Welcome to--", A monitor spoke.
I felt a tap on my shoulder and I looked over to see who it was.
"This is where we get off.", Sugito smiled.
"Okay.", I shortly replied. I don't have any belongings because if I did then it would have been taken away by either my school mates, or my mother and whatever man she brought over to have fun with.
Also, while we're on the topic of school mates. It seems I've broken all my assailant's legs and hence they needed surgery and medication. Seems like I got off the hook as it was shown that they attacked me and could've possibly killed me, when the children refused that they were gonna kill me they were handed the wrong which had large portions of my blood. By simple investigations it was found that none of them bled, only broke hence they were fined and they even had to give an apology. Anyway, back onto topic.
Me and Sugito exited the airport and I followed behind him.
As I was following Sugito I inspected the surroundings with curiosity. The culture compared to England is fairly vibrant, as England has multiple cultures and is diverse while Japan has a few cultures mixed with this world's version of 'modern'.
"Hey boy, come here!", I heard someone who ran a stall call out to me.
At first I pulled Sugito's clothing to make him aware and then I shrugged towards the stall's direction, to which he smiled and headed towards him.
"Want a syrup covered dango?", He asked me, to which I nodded my head.
Sugito handed over money and he was given three sticks which each contained 6 dangos each.
He handed two dango sticks to me which I accepted and then took a bite. Sugito was clearly waiting for my reaction, and so was the stall owner.
The flavour was odd, but a good kind of odd. The mix between the sweetness of the syrup and the sourness of the dango melded perfectly together. I noticed people observing me for some reason, however I kept up appearances and thanked the man.
"Thanks! It tastes really good! The mix between the syrup's sweetness and the dango's softness is absolutely perfect with each other.", I honestly replied.
"Haha! Looks like we got a connoisseur here.", Sugito rubbed my head and I continued to follow him while consuming my dangos.
