Chapter 64: The Man in Red
---Sam pov---
Currently, Mathias and the man named Dmitry dragged me to the top floor of the palace after they took Lara away from the ritual chamber.
Sam: "where did you take Lara," I said while struggling out of the guy named Dmitry that beat up Lara together with his men. I looked at Mathias, who was walking ahead.
Mathias: "we will take her to somewhere particular, you don't have to worry about her," he said while looking at me with a smile on his face.
Sam: "what do you need me for," I said while worriedly looking at him.
Mathias: "You will be the next sun queen who will free us from this island. Your blood is of this land you are Himiko." he said while looking at me with a crazed look on his face.
Sam: "then I don't want to be your sun, queen. Lara will come after and kill you." I said while struggling out of their grips. Mathias was not pleased when he heard my words and was about to explain to me the importance of me taking the mantle of Himiko when someone hurriedly came into the place room.
The man looked terrified like he saw something impossible that happened in his life. He looked at Mathias and shakingly started talking.
Solarii: "Father Mathias… we have a big problem happening in the palace," he said while looking at us in terror as he started talking again. "There is someone who is killing us and coming towards us right now." When Methais heard his words, he was surprised and angry at the same time.
Mathias: "is the girl that we have sent towards the pits? How did she escape." he said, seething in anger trying to not kill his men for being incompetent. When I heard Mathais said that Lara was coming here to get me, I reveled in his face.
Sam: "See, I told you that Lara would come for me," I said while having a smile on my face. But that same smile didn't last when the man who brought the bad news to Mathias denied our assumptions.
Solarii: "No… it's not the girl that has been killing our men, Father Mathias; it's a man who has been killing more of our men," he said while shaking in fear. He was about to open his mouth when suddenly something grew out of this chest—killing him in the most disturbing way possible. He looked at us and whispered something towards us.
Solarii: "he is here…" he said before coughing blood and dying.
I saw what looked like a red spike that grew out of nowhere, and suddenly a giant door was flung open towards us. We ducked in cover, trying not to get hit by the flying doors coming our way.
I looked towards the door and saw a man. A blood-covered man with long hair, but what shocked me the most was the flying red blades that are hovering around him. I looked at Mathias, and he was looking at the man in worship.
Matthias: "ah, you must be part of Himiko's guards coming to collect your new queen," he said, coming up towards the man in red But before he got close to him. The man grabbed his neck and threw him off the room that the door he entered.
He looked at me with death in his eyes; he started walking towards me, but Dmitry held me down and tried to offer me towards the red man. I kept struggling as the man got closer to me. When I looked towards him, I only saw a smile of death as he came towards me.
I closed my eyes, ready to resign my fate toward him when suddenly. I heard someone screaming next to me. I suddenly opened my eyes and saw the man stabbing the man named Dmitry.
Dmitry: "why did you do this to me, aren't you here to get your new queen." he said while looking at the man in terror. The man gave him a creepy smile and lifted him in the air without touching him.
???: "I heard that you are the one that killed Lara," he said before stabbing his head with one of the blades that were flying around. When I heard his voice, my mind went back to the white-haired man who always stuck with Lara. I was going to call him out when suddenly I heard someone familiar behind me.
Lara: "get away from Sam," she said while pointing a bow at the man, the man turned around and saw Lara. He paused for a second and started to slowly walk towards Lara but suddenly shot her bow at him. The man didn't have to dodge the arrow and hit his chest. I suddenly ran up towards Lara to stop her from reshooting the man.
The man didn't flinch when Lara shot him, but all the red swords that are hovering around him suddenly liquified and turned to blood. He looked at us in confusion and looked at his bloodied hands. He then looked back at us again; he was about to open his mouth, but he closed them back and turned his body around and started walking out of the room while holding on to his wounds.
Sam: "Lara, don't shoot him, he is.." but before I could finish my words, Lara went towards Dmitry and retrieved her belongings and dragged me out the room.
Lara: "no time to explain who that red man is, but we need to leave now the place is burning down." she said, disregarding my worried look towards her, who just shot the man she loved. I looked at my best friend and kept my mouth shut as she dragged me out of the room.

---Lara pov---
While I was climbing up the palace, I met up with Dr. Whitman, who looked like he saw something impossible and started talking to him.
Dr. Whitman: "Lara, you're alive." he said while he looked relieved that he saw me. I backed away from him and started talking to him.
Lara: "So are you… I mean, are you okay? What happened." I said while looking at Dr. Whitman in doubt as I saw him clean and untouched.
Dr.Whitman: "once they stopped seeing me as a threat, they let me move about almost freely!" he said while having a dodgy look on his face
Lara: "did you know that the others were captured?" I said while looking at him with a doubtful look on my face, which Dr. Whitman ignored.
Dr. Whitman: "yes, yes… Sam's in there, but I couldn't free her without a weapon" when I heard this, I was going to head out to save Sam when Dr. Whitman stopped me. "There is something else that I have to tell you Lara there is something out there that is heading up towards us right now some people said that it had come here to collect Sam and bring her back to the Storm guards to make her the queen."
I looked at him in confusion and wanted to get more answers from him when suddenly we heard an expulsion in one of the rooms that Sam is in right now. I got worried and was about to go towards her when suddenly I remembered Dr. Whitman.
Lara: "are you coming with me Dr. Whitman," I said while looking at him.
Dr.Whitman: "I will stay back here and keep a lookout here." he said, while having a dodgy look on his face, I didn't have time to question him and started running towards the room that Sam was in right now.
When I reached the door, I quietly grabbed my bow out of my back. When I was in the room, I was surprised at what I just saw, something unnatural is happening right in front of me again. A man clad in red while red swords hover around him. He just killed the man that beat me up. When I saw that his gaze was turning towards Sam, I hurriedly yelled out to grab his attention.
When he heard my voice, he turned his body towards me and was surprised to see me. I looked at him and felt that I had seen him somewhere before, but I let that thought go as he started walking towards me. When I saw that he was going after me, I released my arrows towards him, shooting him on the chest.
I was going to take another shot at him when suddenly Sam stopped me from doing so. I looked at Sam in confusion. I then looked at the man who I just shot; he looked at us in trouble, looked at his face, which triggered my heart to be guilty, which I don't know why. He then stared at his bloodied hand and turned towards us about to speak to us but closed his mouth and turned around, trying to walk out of the room.
Sam: "Lara, don shot him he is…" I stopped her from talking as I ran towards my stuff.
Lara: "no time to explain who that red man is, but we need to leave now the place is burning down." I noticed that Sam was looking at me with a worried look on her face. I wanted to ask her what she was concerned about but stopped midway as something in my heart didn't want me to find out why she was worried about me.
