Chapter 18: New Bionic Arm

When Victor told me that I could not have my camera crew, I headed to his office and complained to him about how big this story would be if we had a proper team working on it. When we were arguing we were interrupted by someone walk near us.
Victor introduced himself to the stranger but found out that he is the new cameraman they just hire. When Victor was happy about his new hire, but his face turned sour for a second before replacing it with a flash of brilliance, he turned his head towards me and told me I would get a one-person crew.
I scanned the new hire properly; he is six feet tall with short white hair and tan skin; he also has two different colored eyes. But when I looked at his left hand and was surprised at what I see. I look at Victor with anger in my face and complain to him.
Elean: "Victor, you cant do this to me; you can't just hand over a disable person to me and expect him to work with one hand." I said with an angry look at Victor.
Victor, with a wicked smile, just laughs at me.
Victor: "HAHAHA… think of this as training the new cameraman on how to use a camera using one hand," he said and proceeded to laugh even louder while leaving towards his office. I glared at Victor as if I could burn a hole through the back of his head while he was walking back to his office.
I turned my head toward the new cameraman; he had a confused look in his face. I asked his name again as I didn't hear it properly last time I was arguing with Victor.
Elena: "Uhm… what's your name again? Sorry, I didn't catch your name the first time you introduce yourself." I said and realized I never introduce my self to him yet. "Sorry, I never told you my self, again, my name is Elena Fisher. I'm a journalist." I hold out my hand, shaking his.
Joseph: "sorry for the inconvenience. I'm Joseph Maiava, ex-military, and a newly hired cameraman." he said with a proud smile on his face.
Elena: "Uhm, sorry for dissing on you because of your disabilities you don't have to worry about you not being able to use the camera. You could still operate a camera using one hand." I said, feeling guilty that I called him useless. "Anyways we need to get ready in six hours we will be going to fly to Panama to meet some treasure hunter, oh, by the way, make sure you know how to swim we will be on the boat throughout this."
Joseph: "I got it ill meet you at the airport. I still need to meet a friend that is living here in New York." he said before heading towards the elevator before coming to a stop and coming back here. "Sorry, here's my number to call me when you get there," he said before heading off.

I walked out of the building and hailed a cab toward the Grand Central station. In a few minute's ride, I already reached my destination. I headed inside the train station, but instead of going to buy a ticket for the train. I headed toward the public bathroom, I stop near a wall and look around if everything is clear before passing through the wall. On the other side of the wall is the all too familiar teleportation system to Agartha.
Without hesitation, I went into the portal, and when I reached Agartha, I headed towards Android 18's apartment in between the commercial district and housing district. When I entered her home, I dodge a rocket-powered boot coming towards me even though I said that this was an apartment, it is more of a research facility.
Joseph: "Yo, 18, are you here, you said to come here when I'm free," I said, waiting for any sign of 18, in her apartment. I finally Heard her opened the door toward one of her room, where she makes her tech are. "18, why do you need me here for I need to go back in six hours or I would miss my flight," I said impatiently.
18: "don't worry, it won't take long; come here, follow me to one of the R&D rooms." She said while dragging me along. When I enter the room with all the robotic limbs, I realized what the surprise she wanted to see. I looked at 18 in shock.
18: "Surprise, after you have lost your left arm, I have been developing bionic limbs for you to use, but due to time, I could only make you my prototype." She said an handed me a black bionic left arm. "This is Mk.45 Bionic arm variant black; it has two modes; grappling gun and electric hands. I was planning on adding more modes, but I didn't have much time before you leave. But there is one downside to this. You still need to come by and repair it, hey, it's better than nothing right. Go on, try it on." she said with a smile on her face.
I took off my fake plastic arm, I put on the new bionic arm and try moving my arm left and right and squeezing my hands into a fist. I tried out the grappling gun mode then electric hand mode. Both I liked as both have some uses in combat. A loss of thought, I looked at 18 and asked her a question.
Joseph: "why did you decide to build this for me?" I said with a grateful look in my face.
Eighteen looked at me as if she heard the funniest joke in the world and laughed out loud right in front of me.
!8: "you never did realize how nice you are to everyone around you, you even treated me as a person more than the people we swore to protect, they saw me as a weapon that they can use. That is also the reason I'm retiring from SCP; there's no point in working for them anymore." she said with a smile on her face. I looked at her with a grateful look and thanked her.
Joseph: "thank you, 18, ill never forget what you have done for me." I said with glee full smile on my face.
18: "don't worry about it, just make sure to come by often as that is still a prototype and might not work as intended sometimes." she said and looked at the time. And turned to me, "give me feedback on what to improve on to your bionic arm, and I will tweak the next arm I am currently working on."
Joseph: "Yes ill makes full use of this new arm and give you some feedback when field testing it," I said while checking how much time before I need to head back to New York. "I need to head back and catch a flight to Panama. See you 18."
In a few minutes, I'm now in front of Newart international airport waiting for Elena to call me.
