Chapter 16: Unreasonable Kevin.
While walking, Clara and Lucas were chatting about who might be the person behind her ambush attempt.
"So, do you think that the person you investigated in Haran were related to person who attempted to ambush me?" Clara asked the Lucas beside her.
Pondering for a moment Lucas said after some thinking.
"Ummmm.Its a bit hard to answer that. You already know that i'm almost done with my investigation but a magician noticed me and interrupt me immediately."
Clara then tell Lucas about there was also a magician that appeared to ambushed her.
"Now that really suspicious. I mean magician isnt rare, there's alot of them in capital and other main city. But a magician in a small city like Lurin? That was a rare one!" Lucas exclaimed excitedly because he feels like the puzzle were almost completed after hearing Clara story which one of the pieces of puzzle.
"So, how did you survive if a magician were involved? You know that the magician can beat several commoner. So its quite unbelievable that you've survived without any harm." Lucas staring at her like she was a monster.
Lurin was a place where Clara and her family stayed. Lurin was a small city that only had a quarter of size Haran city. In the day of accident,she was supposed on her way home. No one will thought that a bandit and magician would suddenly ambush her. Her family main knight were staying at family house to guard. So Clara only brought a little amount of her family knight. Among them were also a traitor. So its a suprising fact that she was able to survive.
Clara broke into a cold sweat immediately. Kevin said that his existence is a secret to anyone except her. So she can't definitely tell Lucas that a book saved her right? And Clara being a magician was more a ridiculous idea. If Lucas asked where she got the recipe potion and ingredient are what should Clara answer.
Hearing no response Lucas stared at Clara deeply.
"How suspicious...." Lucas muttered softly. Clara broke into more cold sweat.
'What should i do, what should i say.' Clara thought panickingly.
Lucas stared at Clara with a furrowed eyes that almost closed. After what seemd a long time he abruptly straightened his body again.
"Hmm whatever, the important thing is that you are alive now." Lucas said breaking the serious atmosphere. Clara sigh of relief seeing Lucas dont pushing the topic any further. She patted her chest gently.
"Yes yes as long i'm alive nothing matter" She beaming a smile at lucas to hide her nervousness just now.
"We're arrived now." Lucas suddenly said.
Clara looked up at the building in front of her. The building looks a normal house. The walls were mostly painted by grey color. Overall the building looks like a normal family house, but Clara can feel some kind of resistance while entering the building.
"Surprised?" Lucas asked. Clara didn't know what he is asking. Is he asking about the resistance on the entrance of building? Or is he asking about the appearance of building?
Seeing her confused expression, Lucas like knowing her thought immediately explained thoroughly.
"I mean you kind experienced the resistance while entering this building right?"
Clara nodded her head
"So whats that?" Asked Clara.
"Its kind of charm of protection that i bought from black market. Everyone that has malicious intent against any people that reside on this building will be resisted.
"Wow!!" Clara can only clapped her hand in admiration.
"But there is a limit of it. If the intruder is way too stronger than the user, the charm will break immediately."
"A stranger also would also get resisted. That's why you kind experienced some kind of resistance there for a moments. If not because of me standing beside you, you will be thrown off out immediately." Clara nodded understandingly.
"Go freshen up, it's almost a bedtime already. Your room is right there" Lucas pointed at the room which has blue color door.
"Thank you for your assistance today Lucas. Goodnight." She bowed in thanks and begin walking toward her room.
Before she walked away, Lucas immediately said.
"If you have any urgent matter just knock on my door, Don't hesitate to ask me about anyting. Do you understand?" Clara nodded obediently.
Clara walked away and begin entered her room. The room was not small nor big. Its fit comfortable for her. She begin placed all her things on the nearest table. She then released Kevin from her leather bag and placed it on the table near bed. After she finished placed all of her things, she collapsed on the bed immediately.
"Aaaah...Such a nice feeling. I miss my own bed on home."
Clara then picked Kevin and placed it on the bed. She opened the book and begin speaking.
"Say Kevin, can i trust Lucas completely?" Clara asked Kevin in such a tired voice.
As expected from the guy whose activity can only observe and writing to replied immediately.
"I'm not sure. You and i only know him today. Just trust him but not completely, like don't reveal your identity about magician. But still trust him if he intend to protect you."
"But don't get to close to him." Kevin immediately added a sentence.
"Why?" Clara replied confusingly. Why does Kevin strokes looks weird.
"Just don't get any close to him. You know there is a lot man that looks gentle outside but beast inside." Kevin words getting more weird.
"What does it mean?" Clara asked confusedly. What does gentle outside and beast inside. The caged princess would never know such a term like that.
"Anyway just don't get too close to him! Do you understand?" Kevin write sternly.
"Yes, mom." Clara rolled her eyes at the unreasonable Kevin who nagged at her like her mother.
After chatting for a while with Kevin, Clara begin to yawn. Seeing her tired face Kevin asking Clara to sleep immediately.
"Yes, i'm gonna sleep now. Its been such a tiring day. Goodnight Kevin." Clara closed her eyes gently.
Kevin looked at the sleeping figure before him.
"What will you do without me." Kevin muttered inwardly, before entering his slumber.
