However, before Zeel could twist any part of his body, a gun was directed at his head by a frightened but focused Lara.
"Stop Zeel, they are choking," Lara begged.
Everyone had begun to move at this moment, noticing that three men were being held in control by Zeel.
Everyone had seen enough movies to notice when a chokehold was used. Lara acted first because the men were turning blue while being held by Zeel.
Zeel stopped and smiled bitterly to himself. If all other options were considered, he would rather finish by killing the three men regardless of the consequences.
It was not because the men were a threat to his survival, but because he was trained to kill guaranteed.
Would you stop in the middle of tying a shoelace and start over? It was the same frustration bubbling within Zeel at the moment.
Still, he released all the men and laid on the ground with a pained face.
"The Red Queen was right. I am just doing exactly what I was taught to do," Zeel murmured aloud as he battled internally with his instincts to finish the job he had started.
Zeel was in pain from the headaches he was experiencing; The World Laws would only restrict him from attacking those who did not have the intention of attacking him first.
The only reason Zeel experienced a headache was that the men were more fearful than wilful by the time the fight had started.
They had lost the intention almost immediately, making Zeel's actions of restraining them no longer necessary.
Zeel was in pain while lying on the ground. It was hurtful to him on a fundamental level.
Every day he was taught to break necks for dozens of years, but today he could not snap a neck when he intended to, and that made Zeel realize just how 'conditioned' and 'broken' he actually was.
Zeel did not put up any resistance as several men from the biker games lounged at him and started to beat him senseless.
They would have probably attempted to kill him had two police cars not pulled up a couple of seconds into the beating – lucky for them.
Lara was helping Bruce at first but soon she began pulling the frenzied men away from Zeel.
Zeel did not even once look at Lara as he was taken away by the new police officers.
The beatings were inconsequential to him, and if he wanted to escape nobody would be able to stop him.
Zeel just needed a quiet area to clear his mind and prison seemed a better area than most.
"Zeel! Zeel!" Lara yelled watching the police take Zeel into the car.
Zeel just wanted peace but he still answered "Just go home and forget about this.
This is basically a prison sentence for attempted murder. I heard it is a long time so I should have enough time to clear my head,"
Lara froze at Zeel's response, she felt as if she had misunderstood him this entire time.
Did he not abandon his family like she initially thought? Maybe a severe case of PTSD? That seemed to line up with the scenario that just took place.
After Zeel was taken away, Lara did not pause for a moment and hopped on her bike, heading for the only place that could possibly salvage this situation for her lover – Croft Holdings.
Lara rode swiftly through the streets, by the time she arrived at Croft's Holdings, she was wheezing for breath.
The moment Lara entered, the person she was looking for was just heading into the elevator.
"Anna! Anna!" Lara yelled dashing across the floor.
Several security guards stepped forward to restrain her, but Anna waved her hand to dismiss the bodyguards.
"Lara, I was gonna come see you tomorrow," Anna said looking at the haggard appearance of Lara.
Anna was an Associate of Croft's Holdings so she was responsible for overlooking Lara's inheritance.
"I have a small issue," Lara said.
Anna stared at Lara for a moment "Let's talk privately,"
Twenty minutes later Lara was seated in the office of Anna at the top of Croft holdings.
Anna and Lara stared at each other in silence for a long while, neither willing to state what was on their minds.
Anna decided to start with a lighter topic "I heard you were looking for your boyfriend lately,"
Lara immediately clammed up since that was also related to the reason why she was here.
"Yeah, he is fine. It was only a small incident. Nothing too troublesome," Lara whispered lightly.
Anna did not reply and instead turned on the news station.
"Today during a time of heavy traffic. A man of unknown origin attacked three men, two of whom were police officers on duty …."
The Report continued but Lara did not blink even once. This caused Anna to think that she had gotten misinformed with the earlier phone call.
Anna was about to curse the person who had misinformed her, but Lara's next statement surprised her.
"Get him out of jail and I will sign for the inheritance,"
Anna was immediately enthused "You are making the right choice Lara. It has been several years since your father's disappearance and Private Investigators won't even touch the case anymore,"
Lara noticed it was slightly late and walked out of the room "I want to see him in this office by the time I come to sign the papers tomorrow. If he is not here, I won't sign the papers,"
Anna appeared a bit troubled, the mere public relations surrounding this incident would put Croft Holdings in a bad light for a couple of months.
The Red Queen had missed a couple of videos when deleting all the others.
Zeel had confined her into the Mbeamer so she could not access the internet network as much.
Seeing Lara had left, Anna immediately began making the appropriate calls.
Unknown to Lara was the fact that Anna and her associates had been looking into Zeel long before he came into contact with Lara.
Zeel meeting Lara and becoming romantically involved had just been the icing on the cake.
The organization had banned anyone from approaching Zeel if he did not first make contact, Anna had been racking her brain on a possible way to approach Zeel.
After re-watching the video several times on the news, Anna finally understood why the organization was reluctant to approach Zeel.
He was a certified killer even with just instinctual reactions.
Anna laid back in her seat "I can get him out by tomorrow and Lara will fall into place. If they are as close as her actions dictate, it would be a secure venture for them both.
I should buff up security on the island in case anything goes wrong with the boy being a combatant,"
Lara threw her bike away and walked home instead. She could imagine the shit show that would happen tomorrow when Zeel got out.
He would question her about being so rich but not taking care of him.
Sadly, Lara just didn't want to admit that her father was dead.
But freeing Zeel required the appropriate sacrifice.
I didn't edit this chapter so it's not the best but still pretty awesome...
