Chapter 6: Mountain Crisis
With the boulder badge in her possession, Yui was excited to get her second badge. Right now she was looking at the map that she brought with her.
"It says on this map that with have to pass through Mt. Moon to get to the next city" she said. "Mt. Moon? That sounds romantic." Said Misty
"I've heard of that, people say that a very long time ago a meteor crashed into that mountain." Said Brock. "Really? is that true?" Ask Misty. "I'm not sure, but the meteor is called the moonstone." Answered Brock.
"Ah, I've heard of the moonstone, it makes Clefairy evolve into Clefable and Jigglypuff evolve into Wigglytuff." Sai Yui. "So, the moonstone is an evolutionary stone?" asked Misty. "If it makes some Pokémon evolve, than it must be." said Yui.
Just then a scream was heard in the distance. "What was that?" gasped Yui. "Sounds like someone is in trouble,we better check it out." Said Brock seriously. They ran to the source of the screaming and saw a man was being mobbed by, what looked like, a bunch of bats. Yui looked at her pokedex.
Zubat, the Bat Pokémon,
It checks its surroundings and location using reflections of the ultrasonic waves from its mouth.
"Those guys is troublesome, quick Yin use Roar to scare them away!" Ordered Yui. Yin jump off Yui's head and let out a loud roar out scaring the Zubats.
"Oh thank you so much, those Zubats were crazy. I'm Seymour a scientist and researcher." Said Seymour gratefully.
"This girl beside me is Yui, the guy is Brock. I'm Misty, so what happened? And why did those Zubat attack you?" Misty introduced and then ask the situation from him.
"Well it's because of this" said Seymour, pointing at the cave. Inside the cave there were lots of lights hanging on the walls. "These lights are the reason why" Seymour explained.
"It doesn't surprise me really," claim Brock "Zubat don't like the light very much."
"And it's not just Zubat that is lights are causing trouble for,it's making trouble for all the Pokémon. Paras are planting their mushrooms everywhere and are drying up the Sandshrew." Seymour frown as he state the problem.
"I can hear it, they said that it was several human with black clothes is the one that put the light." Said Yui with painful face as many Pokémon sad and miserable voice resound in her ear. The others except Misty who know her ability look at her confuse.
Yui then take a look a group of Sandshrew. One of the sandshrew was so thirsty, it was panting like crazy. Yui felt sorry for it and took out her water canteen. "Here little guy drink this" she said, holding her canteen to the Sandshrew. Sandshrew looked at Yui for a few seconds then accepted the water and drink it "Thanks human".
After the Sandswrew drink enough she take back her water canteen and said "Your welcome." The Sandswrew blink his eyes surprise that this human understand him before he shrugs that information.
Misty and Brock smiled at their friend's kindness. "You're a nice girl, the reason why I'm here is to protect Mt. Moon from trouble makers." said Seymour with a smile.
"What are troublemakers doing here?" asked Misty. "Because of the moonstone, since the meteor is millions of years old and is said to process special powers, they want to take it for themselves." Exclaimed Seymour "That is horrible." exclaimed Yui. "I agree with that." said Misty.
Suddenly Brock saw a pink pokemon hopping around. "Hey look it's a Clefairy" said Brock. "Ah it's so cute," said Misty. Yui took her pokedex and scan the Clefairy.
Clefairy the Fairy Pokémon,
On every night of a full moon, groups of this Pokémon come out to play. When dawn arrives, the tired Clefairy return to their quiet mountain retreats and go to sleep nestled up against each other.
Yui then noticed the Clefairy was holding something. "Hey, that's a moonstone she's holding." She said.
"You're right, I know! If we follow that Clefairy, it might lead us to the meteorite" said Seymour excitedly. Yui, Misty and Brock thought that was a great idea and they all went to follow the Clefairy.
While following Clefairy. They noticed more and more lights. "These lights must be all over Mt. Moon" said Yui as she frown. "Why they're causing a lot of trouble" said Misty. "Did I hear the word trouble?" asked a woman's voice. "If you want trouble we'll give it to you" said a man's voice.
"Prepare for trouble," said the woman.
"Make it double", said the man.
"To protect the world from devastation,"
"To unite all people within our nation,"
"To denounce the evils of truth and love,"
"To extend our reach to the stars above,"
"Jessie,"
"James,"
"Team Rocket blasting off at the speed of light,"
"Surrender now and prepare to fight,"
"Meowth that's right" said the human talking Meowth.
Clefairy hid behind Yui in fright. "I remember you three, you are the one who causing trouble back at Viridian City" said Yui as she point her hand at them. "We haven't forgotten about you twerp," sneer Jessie "but we have no time for you".
"That's right! We are here for the moonstone" Admit Meowth. "So you three are the ones who put up all these lights?" ask Brock. "Of course, we need the lights to find the moonstone" Said James casually. "You crooks! The lights are confusing all the Pokémon" shouted Seymour angrily.
"What a shame, that's too bad" said Jessie, with a smirk. "You won't get away with this! If it's a rock you want, just take one and get lost!" Shouted Brock. "Get lost? How rude! You twerps need to be taught some manners" Jessie sneer at them. Jessie and James released Ekans and Koffing from their pokeballs to fight.
"I won't forgive you! You make the Pokémon here suffer because your greed! Yang! It's time for a battle!" Yui yelled in anger as this action is one of things Yui hate the most. Brock also took out a pokeball and throw it to the air "Go Zubat!" said Brock. Yui was surprised that Brock had a Zubat. "I caught it before we entered the cave" he explained.
Yui told Seymour and Misty to escape and protect the Clefairy. Misty and Seymour nodded and ran off with Clefairy. "Yin follow and protect them!" Yin launch off from Yui's head and dash to catch up with Misty and Seymour.
"All right Koffing use Smog attack!" shouted James. Koffing started to blow toxic gas out of its mouth. "Quick Zubat use Double team and Wing Attack to blow the Smog away!" said Brock. The double team and wing attack worked and the toxic gas spray floated back to team rocket making them cough badly as the backlash.
"Ekans use Bite on those Pokémon" ordered Jessie while coughing out the Smog that she inhale. "Yang avoid it and counter with Zen Headbutt!" Yang move sideways as he avoid Ekans Bite and then he Zen Headbutt Ekans's back making it let out a loud painful hiss and crash into Jessie as psychic type moves beat poison type.
"Zubat use Supersonic" said Brock. Ekans and Koffing became confused because of Zubat's attack and began fighting each other. Team Rocket was not happy with that. "Yang sent them flying!" Ordered Yui. "Zubat help him with Gust!" Said Brock. Both Yui and Brock watch Yang use Sky Uppercut at the confuse Pokémon making them crash to their Trainer then Zubat's Gust blew away Team Rocket and their Pokémon in an instant. "Team Rocket's blasting off again!" shouted Jessie and James.
Brock and Yui was just about to celebrate their victory that is when they noticed something. "Wait! I didn't notice Meowth with them" exclaim Yui. "Neither did I, we better find Misty and Seymour right away" said Brock. Yui give him a nod even if she have complete trust that Yin can take care Meowth.

Meanwhile Misty and Seymour were chasing Clefairy, who was jumping like a bunny. "Please slow down, we can't keep up with you" said Misty as she breath heavily. Just then Meowth popped out in front of Clefairy. "There you are, now be a nice Clefairy and give me the moonstone." Meowth said while smirking meanly in respond Clefairy quivered in fear.
"Leave that Clefairy alone!" shouted Seymour. "No chance" said Meowth. It took out its claws and shouted "Face my Scratch Attack!". "Not so fast Meowth!" shouted Yin who have been hiding in the darkness while waiting a moment to strike. Yin use Scary Face scared Meowth to death.
Misty use this chance to call Staryu and ordered it "Now use your Water Gun!". The Water Gun made Meowth blast off. "Is everyone okay?" ask Yui, who just arrived with Brock at the scene. "Yep! Everything is okay, thanks for Yin." said Misty who feel very grateful that Yui sent him to them. "Is that so? Thanks Yin." Yui smile as she start to grooming Yin brown fur. Yin let out a happy yip as he become a puddle of happiness by Yui's hand.

Sunset came and everyone was sitting by a camp fire and having something to eat. That was the time when Yui saw Brock feed Zubat something. "Hey Brock, what are you feeding Zubat?" she asked. "This is Pokémon food, I made from my own recipe" explained Brock. "Oh! I also make my own Pokémon food! Do you think we can trade some recipes?" Yui suggested as she took a box from her sleeve that contain recipes and some pokefood.
Clefairy look at the group as she eat some tasty pokefood that Brock made. She have been thinking that maybe all human is not that bad. Like this group that save her from the bad human.
"Yeah, that Yui for you. She is the most kind human I ever met. That risk her life just to help others." Clefairy jolt in surprise at that sound behind her. When she turn around she meet Yin standing in front her while smirking so proudly.
"But why she do it? She don't get anything back?" Ask Clefairy. "Oh, you're wrong. Yui always happier when she help us Pokémon. Helping others is her nature." Explain Yang.
Clefairy then stare at Yui who discussing something with Brock. She thought that maybe this human can be trusted. After making that decision Clefairy got up and said "Please follow me." With that she begun to hopping back to the cave.
"What does she want?" Ask Misty as she only can hear the Pokémon name being spoken repeatedly. Yui who can hear and understood what Clefairy want stood up "She want us to follow her. She seems want to show us something." With that the group start packing back their things and follow the Clefairy.
Clefairy led them to a crater of the cave. Sunset had become night time and a full moon was out. In the middle of the crater was a giant rock with lots of Clefairy round it. "It's the moonstone, and all the Clefairy have gathered around" said Seymour. Just then the Clefairy put its moon stone with the other small moonstones. Once that piece was with the others, both the big and small moonstones began to glow and the Clefairy began dancing around the moonstone.
"Wow what a sight, I wonder what they are doing?" ask Misty completely charmed by the action. "I see, The Clefairys are praying to the moonstone, so that some of them will evolve to Clefable." said Yui who understood what the Clefairy speaking.
"So, the moonstone is an giant evolutionary stone, what a wonderful sight. I have always wanted to see this" Said Seymour mystified.
Just then an explosion came out from under the ground. "What just happened?" shouted Seymour. Laughter was then heard. "This voice! No! Not them again!" said Yui. "Thank you for helping us find the moonstone. Now we will take for ourselves" chuckled Jessie.
"You can't do that!" shouted Seimour. "Oh, We can and we will" smirked James. More explosions set off and when the smoke was clear the enormous moonstone was gone. "Oh no, we must get the moonstone back" Seymour yell panic. "Maybe that big hole will lead us to them, let's go Onix!" observe Brock. Brock then told Onix to enter the hole that Team Rocket left behind, then the group followed Onix.
Team Rocket was sliding down the mountain with the enormous moonstone. They believed they had succeeded, when suddenly Onix came out of the ground and stopped them.
"Hold it right there Team Rocket! You're not taking the moonstone anywhere!" Said Yui as she was the first to came out from the tunnel that Brock's Onix Dig. Team Rocket was angry and was just about to call out their Pokémon when the Clefairy came up. The Clefairy was not happy that Team Rocket and began to wave their arms around. Team Rocket become confused at what the Clefairy doing. They begun to laugh thinking that the Clefairy want to dance them to death.
"That's the attack called the metronome, it makes Clefairy do an attack, but you can never tell what attack they will do" explained Seimour. The metronome became a hyper beam attack and sent Team Rocket blasting off again. The Team Rocket yelled in disbelief because they underestimate the wild Pokémons.
Everyone was happy that the enormous moonstone was safe at last. Just then chips from the giant moonstone, which broke off during the attack, came falling out of the sky and landed on some of the Clefairy. The Clefairy, who the moonstone touched, began glowing and turned into Clefable.
"See, I told you that the moonstone turns Clefairy into Clefable" Yui pointed out her theory is true. Misty, Brock and Seymour agreed to that. Yui then looked at her pokedex.

When next morning came Yui, Brock and Misty decided it was now time to leave. Seymour had decided to stay at Mt. Moon to study the moonstone a bit more. "After last night, I felt like there is more I need to know" said Seymour happily. Yui, Brock and Misty understood that and bid farewell to Seymour and the Clefairy and Clefable.
Yui, Brock and Misty were now walking along a path, when they saw a sign. It read: Cerulean City. "I can get my second badge there" Yui smile at the progress she made so far. Then she noticed that something else was written on the sign: Gary was here, Yui is a loser. "Oh really, he is so childish sometimes. Well, we'll see who the loser is at the Indigo League" Yui said fondly. Then she just walked calmly on, with Misty and Brock beside her.
