Chapter 14: Am not cripple
Ruth started walking to her bedroom to pack some of her luggage ,went out of the house in their present, Mr Kenneth did not alter any word, when he saw Ruth going .
Ruth taught he will still have some little love for her has his daughter and stopped her , but Mr Kenneth her father pretended not seeing her .
Ruth went out of the house to see if she could see any taxi , but there was non ,she can't call Naomi because she can'
Naomi went to Ruth and hug her , "have told you to ask scorpion to finish them all for you but you refused" when Ruth heard what Naomi was saying ,she started giving her eye to her to stop speaking, but it has if some demons has eating some of her best friends brain ," Ruth why is your eye's shacking , did something get in,come let me check it for you..." When Naomi turned she saw Paul who was not far from her friend , that was when she knew she had spoken to much , "ooh Paul you're here ?"
"Hello Naomi "
When Paul heard what Naomi said ,he knew there was a secret about Ruth he don't know about and it seems Naomi wanted to spilt it out, and Paul could see how Ruth was try to make her stop talking , he can't asks her about it now he will do it later .
Joel was just looking at Paul who stood closed to Ruth , he turned and look at Ruth for introduction .
"ooh am sorry ! Paul, meet my childhood friend Joel, who is like a brother I never had , Joel meet Paul my probation boyfriend , Am still observing him to know if I would like to date him"
When Joel heard what Ruth said ,his face changed in a flash ,but Paul saw it and just smile at him , I have a rival Paul said to himself.
Paul want and shake Joel " nice meeting you Joel and again thank you for taking good care of Ruth. they started looking at each other with disperse and everywhere was cold .
When Ruth saw what was going on ,she started wondering what is going on with the both of them . " Paul are you going to Mike's place ?"
" Yes ! I will come pick you up when you're true " Paul went closes to Ruth and kissed her on her forehead, Ruth opened her eye's when she saw want he did , she was very shy with what he did, she cant asks him why he did that because her friends was still there , " okey! I will call you when am true" .
When Paul left, the friends went and sat down on their chair, order what they needed to eat . " Ruth , what is going on between you and Paul ,which probation boyfriend are you talking about Naomi asks?"
" Naomi , Paul Ask me to be his girlfriend yesterday ,and I told him to prove to me how he truly love me and his in process of proving .
" when Naomi heard what Ruth are friend said ,she turned and look at her brother who's head is down facing the table , Naomi knew Joel her brother is so much in love with Ruth , she could not do anything to help him with her friend ,he should be the one to tell her how he feel about her.
" Joel, you seems quite , is there any problem " Ruth ask.
Joel looked at Ruth and smile with sad face ,but did not say why he was quite " Am fine Ruth , but I would like to ask you ,do you like Paul"
Ruth started thinking if she likes Paul "Paul is a nice guy, but I don't know if I liked him as for boyfriend and girlfriend, when we were together it as never crossed my mind , he would asked me out"
" But Ruth he does not know who you truly her , Will he accept you when he does find out Naomi asks? "
" Then i have to tell him , before he found out about it himself , if he can't accept me for who I am that means we are not met to be with each other " Ruth said.
The Walter brought the food and they started eating .
mike was playing PS game when Paul came in , " guy, I asked you out yesterday night you did show up , what happened? "
Paul closed his eyes when he heard the questions his friend asks him, Paul started thinking about Ruth , she is by his side , but far away from him ." guy are. you listening to me ?"
" Something came up , I could not able to make it "
" Mike started playing his game which seems interesting and turned to his friend who's face is very worried. " what is the problem , you seems troubled , did anything happen when am away " Mike asked.
" I asked Ruth to be my girlfriend,"
" Did she reject you ?" make asked with seriousness in his face , because he knew how Paul loved Ruth , Ruth is his first love ,he love her ever since they are little , if she rejected him, Paul will be devastated and he don't want that to happen to his friend. " she said am under probation as far now"
" That is Good, she did not reject you ,
"There's a problem, she seem far from me how will I proved to her how much I love her".
" Paul, you're a great guy, just go with flow , she will see how great you're " .
"Thanks man I will hid to your advice "
"How is Fred is he back from your parents place's in Abuja? " mike asked. Paul went and sit closed to Mike " He will be arriving later in the evening , let's play ".
" Mummy, I never knew it will be that easy for Ruth to leave the house " kara was very happy when she was talking to her mother Janifer.
" kara have told you you should not worry about Ruth ,that I will deal with her , before you people came that yesterday ,have told your father if he does not send her packing ,I will be the one to pack my things and leave the house for him"
"Wow! mother you're so wonderful , you manage to send her mother packing and now the daughter, that is why am so happy to be your daughter" Janifer just laughed when she heard what her daughter said ," you have to lower your voice let the maid not hear you "
kara look at her mother who is at the dressing table, doing makeover " mother can I asked you something?".
"if is a secret ,you should come closer to me and ask" kara stood up from her mother's bed and went to where her mother was sitting and whisper in her ear .
" mom I want to ask if you have any idea of the where about of Deborah Ruth's mother ?". when Janifer heard what her daughter was asking her ,hatred flash from her eye's ,but kara could manage to see it before it disappear from her mother's eyes.
"I don't know where she is , you should not be interested in those matters, you should concentrate in your life"
" okey mom "
Ruth was discussing with her friends about her company in abuja When her phone which is on the table rang " hello am true , i will be on my way " it was Paul who called her to ask if she could accompanying him to pick Fred up from the airport " guys I have to be on my way ".
" Ruth is that Paul on the phone ?" Joel was just looking at Ruth to hear what her answer will be " Yes he asked if am true he will like me to accompanying him to go pick Fred up ".
" ooh! tell Fred he should bring all the goodies he brought from his parents place tomorrow in school" Ruth went and hug Naomi and Joel " call him and tell him yourself ,you have his number right " when Naomi head what her friend said she roll her eye's at her .
" His Paul coming to pick you up ?" Joel asked .
" His outside already waiting for me " Joel was very sad when he head what Ruth said the pain his feeling is coming from his heart his so heart broken, he as been in love with her for so long , it was because of her he went abroad to farther his study so he could have a probable job , He knew she's not who she seems she is ,but he still loved her.
Ruth reached the packing lot where Paul his waiting for her , when she saw his car where it was park not far from her , she got into the car . " Am sorry if I kept you waited for so long" Paul did not answer her immediately , he just kept staring at her , he came closer to her and kiss her forehead " you're so beautiful , I can't stop staring at you" Ruth was very shy when she heard and saw what Paul did.
" You have learned how to teas me ". Paul just smile when he saw her shy face .
" When is Fred flight arriving ?. Ruth asked. Paul raised his hand up to check his wristwatch what the time was , " he should be arriving any moment from now , we should start going ".
t go their house is not that big and Joel just came back ,it will incontinence them.
" Hello Paul "
" Hello Ruth, what happen to your voice ,why are you sounding that way ,what is going on"
Ruth could not answered Paul questions " Paul, can you come and pick me up at home , I don't have anything where to go , school most have closed"
" Wait right there I'm on my way " when Paul heard Ruth voice he knew something most have happened to Ruth, her voice seems like someone who had been crying for so long, what could be the problem that warrant her to cry.
Paul pick up is key, get into his car and drove out of the estate
When Paul got to where Ruth is , he saw her sited on the cold floor with her head in between her leg's.
Ruth feel someone is looking at her , she raised her head and saw Paul standing not far from her . Paul saw tears welled down from Ruth eye's, Paul went and scot down at Ruth front , " Ruth, what happened to you ,why are you out here late in the night , why are you crying ?.
" Paul, please can you take me out from here?" when Paul heard what Ruth said he stopped asking her because he could see she's not ready to talk about it.
"Okey! stand up let's go into the car" Paul said to Ruth.
Ruth got into the car, which Paul opened for her , Paul went and sat at the driver sit and started driving .
Ruth turned and look outside the window of the car ,Ruth started thinking about when her father used to carry her , telling her night story's, she remember when the three of them where happy together , her father and mother use to display their love to each other in her present.
Paul turned his eyes from the road and look at Ruth who's face is looking at the window .
Those who are involved in making my baby girl sad will pay for the action , I will show them who Paul David is, Paul said in his mind.
The car stopped at the presidential estate , Paul came down from the car, went to Ruth door to open it for her. Paul saw Ruth in a trance, he touched her hand for her to come out from her though.
"Ooh !am sorry, I did know we have reached "
" can you walk or I should carried you into the house " Ruth head what Paul said, she started laughing ," Paul! am not cripple I can walked " Am glad I could made you laugh " she just smile when she heard him " can we go in? "Ruth asks.
when they got into the house , Ruth went and sat at the coach, closed her eyes to rest ,
Paul came to her and sat closed to her, Ruth will you like to take your shower or we should talk first" Ruth opened her eyes when she heard what Paul said, she took Paul's hand which was on top the coach and put it on top of hers .
" Paul be sincere with me, am I not loveable " when Paul heard what Ruth said, he looked at her eyes ,to know where this is coming from " who said that to you , Ruth you're the most loving girl have ever knew,don't take what someone said to you to heart, they are not worthy your love " Paul saw tears started welling from Ruth eye's , He started getting worried "Ruth have I said something wrong " Paul don't know how to console a girl, because he never had any by his said , he just went and hug her and started parting her back to make her calm down.
" Ruth can you tell me all what happened between you and your family, what did they say to you, I need to know what happen so we could solve the problem together "
After Ruth explained what happened between her family and herself , Paul was very angry " Who do they think they are, do they think they can treat you the way they like and no one will say thing to them ,I have to show them who they're messing with "
"Paul! I don't want you to get inform in this ,leave them to me , I will solve the problem on my own" Paul did not say any thing regarding that, because he knew she like solving her problem herself , that will not make him keep quite" You should go and take your shower ,you face are all full of tears, my cry, cry baby" Ruth was so shy when she heard what Paul said .
When Ruth went into the guestroom to take shower ,Paul went to his bedroom to make a call to his assistant. " Hello, I know you to check everything about Ruth father, Mr Kenneth and her step mother and sister , you knew who am talking about right, That's good then , I want to see it first thing Monday morning in my office"
"okey boss, is there anything else?"
"No! that's all for now " .
The next morning, Paul got up from sleep very early and prepared breakfast ,he knew Ruth did eat something last night before going to bed .
When Ruth came out from her room and wanted to go and prepare breakfast,she saw Paul coming out from the kitchen with apron on and food in his hand " good morning "
"why didn't you woke me up to prepare breakfast " Ruth said .
" morning my sunshine!"
" I knew you would have been tired from crying to much yesterday and I can't bear to see you working first thing in the morning, go wash up let's eat " Paul said .
After they're true with eating, they went and sat on the coach, The TV was on , and an entertainment program was showing, Paul turned and saw how serious Ruth was watching the program ,he knew her eyes was just there but her mind is else where.
" Ruth are you going out today Paul ask?" Ruth turned and look at Paul , who is very handsome, if not the most handsome guy she have seen .
" I will be going out with Naomi said Joel later in the day " Paul heard the person she will be going out with , he wanted to start getting angry but he told himself to truth her, "when you're going out you should take one of the car, from the garage and go out with it "
" No! I don't want unnecessary attention to myself, I will just take a taxi " Paul reason what she said makes sense " then I will drop you where you're going and come pick you up when you're true."
Ruth wanted to reject his offer, but then she remembered she told him she is giving him a chances to prove his love for her" OK if you insisted "
It was afternoon, Ruth got into the car so Paul could drop her to where her friends are waiting , when the got to the place ,Paul stopped the car ,opened his door went out and opened the door for Ruth ," you don't have to keep opening the door for me" Ruth said.
Paul look at her and smile, " Even if am not your boyfriend yet , I have to treat you as how a gentle man should treat a Lady " Ruth just smile when she heard his gentle voice close to her ear .
They got to the cafe , where her friends are waiting for her , she saw Joel and Naomi sited at the chair closed to the window .
