Chapter 2: Chapter Two

Luke

It is finally happening. I've finally found a place where there is peace and greenery everywhere. More than that, these people don't really speak English--except the literate ones--and so most wouldn't be interested in the English world. It means the public figures in the English world would be the same as all the other English people to them. God, it feels like heaven. No one looks at me like I'm a diamond among metals. No one gathers around me to take selfies or get my autograph. Every single person looks at me and smiles the way people look and smile at strangers. It feels so good to not be an outcast. My friend, Michael and I came here to this beautiful country so that we could get a break from our everyday lives. We are living in different hotels as he wanted to experience a small town life in this country and I wanted to just retreat to a beautiful resort in the woods--where there is WiFi, of course.

So I just came here to see how he was doing and I think he is enjoying it very much as he has found himself a girl. A native girl. And we have been here for two days only. So, of course, he is enjoying.

I'm currently outside his hotel and I may or may not have forgottten the way back to my hotel. Teenagers in uniforms with backpacks are going towards the right, which is where I'm supposed to be going. These people are probably students and school must be over. I gotta find someone to help me get back to the resort. Pause here, Lucas. These are students which means that they probabaly know English. Plus, they might even know who I am. So I gotta find someone with less pobablity of recognizing me.

Just then, I see three girls coming my way. What catches my attention is the girl at the right side. She constantly rolls her eye-catching brown eyes at her two companions and scoffs at them. She seems like an I-don't-care-about-anything kind of person with her casual posture and her black hair--well, everybody in this country has dark-colored hair and eyes. But she seems like she doesn't know and care about the world and even if she knew who I was, she wouldn't make a big deal out of it. Yes, she'll help me get back.

I approach them as they pass by the resort and wave at them,"Hi."

Two of them gape at me and then smiles widely and giggles, impressed with themselves at the attention. Typical.

As for the one with the mesmerizing eyes, at first I think I see a hint of shock in her eyes? But when I look again I see a bored expression on her face. So I probably must have assumed that shock in her eyes. Well, I'm glad that she doesn't really know and care. And her eyes look much more charming up close.

I smile at her and say,"I'm currently staying at Selkan Resort and I forgot the way back. Could you help me get back?"

The brown-eyed girl just stares at me and doesn't say anything. I start to feel self-conscious and I raise my brow at her just so she would realize I'm waiting for her to answer. She still doesn't say anything and I swear if someone hadn't spoken up, I would have melted under her gaze.

"We are headed that way," the girl in the middle speaks up, pointing towards the road which is not the way to Selkan Resort and my heart drops. I found the perfect person who could guide me back and turns out we don't have the same road. I let out a sigh.

"But her home is on the way to Selkan Resort. She can lead you there,"the girl on the left says with a wide smile, pointing in the-beautiful-eyed girl's direction. I feel my face light up as I turn my gaze back at her.

They exchange a few things in a language which I presume is their native language. Two of the girls squeak--literally squeak--and Ms Moody rolls her eyes and snaps at them. Fiesty.

She then folds her arms and looks at me and says,"Sure."

I smile widely at her and we part ways with her two friends along with some more foreign language exchanges among the girls.

We walk on, silent for a moment and I finally speak up,"What's your name?"

She turns away for a moment I wonder if she is rolling her eyes. She then steals a glance and says,"It's Addy."

I nod and wait for her to ask mine. But she just keeps on walking silently. Wait, could she know my name already? Could she know who I am that she doesn't need to ask?

I point my index finger towards my chest and say,"Aren't you gonna ask me my name?"

She looks at me and says,"You're gonna say it anyway."

I chuckle. Witty, I see. "I'm Luke."

I tell her about Michael and I staying at different hotels and all she does is nod.

"So you're are in high school?"

"Yep. A senior," she pauses,"What about you?"

I shrug,"I dropped school." I just leave it at that, not wanting to continue. Maybe she senses my uncomfortableness as she doesn't push me. Or maybe she just doesn't really care.

We walk for about twenty minutes when she stops. "My stop is here," she says motioning towards a house, "This road will lead you to the resort."

"Thank you."

And for the first time I see her smile and my God, does she look beautiful. Her smile speaks for its own and it is perfect for her face. So much that she looks like an angel. And she adds a giggle to it. Then her eyes go wide and she responds in a barely audible voice,"No problem."

"Maybe I'll see you again?"

She just shrugs and walks off to her house.

Okay, she is quite a mystery. I'm quite eager to solve this mystery.

Addy

"...yeah, it contained some great lines that made her eyes tear up..."

My fucked up friends started the shit about some love letters yet again and I'm actually glad that Katy's way home is not the same as ours or I would have to bear three of them squeak.

As we walk past Gluten Resort, a hoarse voice in a thick British accent says,"Hi."

I turn my gaze towards the source of the voice and boom! Standing there a few feet away from me is a blond guy with ocean blue eyes. I blink repeatedly to see if he disappears but when I open my eyes, he is still there. And honestly, he looks better in person. His eyes are as captivating as ever and he is fit.

I hear giggles from my side and so yes, this is happening. He is not a figment of my imagination.

I've heard him speak a million words in his songs and videos but this is the first time I'm hearing him speak in person and he is the one speaking first. Fuck. I realize that I'm in a shocked state and quickly regain my composure and turn my expression normal as his gaze falls on me. And God,his eyes are creating magic of their own.

He smiles at me and says,"I'm currently staying at Selkan Resort and I forgot the way back. Could you help me get back?"

Oh, fuck! What the fuck is happening to me? Why the fuck am I feeling like middle school me again? Fuck, fuck, fuck. I'm the only one going that way and fuck, why are my palms getting sweaty? Okay, cool down, Addy. It's just that you are meeting one of the people who makes your life tolerable. Now, be a man and act like your cool self.

So I just stare at him and he raises an eyebrow just to remind me that he is waiting for my response. And I continue to stare at him and luckily, Jenny speaks up,"We are headed that way."

Lucas lets out a sigh and he seems disappointed. Surely he needs to get back to that shitty five-star resort.

Laura chirps in,"But her home is on the way to Selkan Resort. She can lead you there." She motions towards me and I freeze. I turn towards Lucas who has turned towards me with a beaming face.

I then turn towards my fucked up best friends. "Come on, Addy. He is here. Your dear man with his angelic voice," my friends squeak--and I mean literally squeak--at me in our native language so that Lucas wouldn't understand. I respond to them with an eye-roll.

"This is your chance. Tell him about all the things you do related to him."

"Yeah, right. Like that's gonna fucking happen."

"But come on, you are not gonna leave him here, lost, are you?"

I heave a frustrated sigh and say,"Fine."

I fold my arms, turn to him and say,"Sure."

He gives me a wide smile.

Oh, fuck. This is gonna be a long way home.

As we part, those two idiots remind me again to take the chance, in our native language.

I very much feel like raising my middle finger to them but behave, Addy, you are with one of your lights in the darkness.

We walk on, silent for sometime and then he decides to speak,"What's your name?"

I turn my face away from his view. Fuck, he's asking my name. Lucas wants to know my fucking name. Come on, douchebag, what the fuck are you doing? You say your name all the damn time. This isn't any different. Be a man and speak up. I exhale silently, steal a glance and say,"It's Addy."

From the corner of my eyes, I see him nod. We go silent yet again. After a moment or so, he says,"Aren't you gonna ask me my name?"

I look over at him. Why the fuck would I need to ask? I know it already. But what I actually end up saying is,"You're gonna say it anyway."

Now, I don't really know why the fuck I said that but I'm glad beacuse he chuckles. And it one of those cheeky ones I always saw on TV or in my phone.

"I'm Luke."

Woah. Luke? Fine. If you don't want me to call you with your famously known name. I'll. I'm assuming he probably got sick of the-famous-guy shit and maybe that's the reason he came here. I can't say I blame him because I want to get away from this boring-ass life as well.

He tells me about his friend Michael and all that different preferences shit and in this moment, I can tell what starstruck means because I can't really manage to respond with any of my usaul witty responses. All I can manage to do is nod.

"So you're are in high school?"

"Yep. A senior," I respond and wonder if I should ask about him even though I know. Okay, so since I'm putting on an act of not knowing him, I think I might as well act well,"What about you?"

He shrugs,"I dropped school." He doesn't explain further. So now, I'm sure he doesn't want me to know about his popularity and I don't push him. Though it will be fun to watch him be miserable either by making up lies upon lies or by twisting the truth so the real deal will be left out.

On the way as we dive into another silence, a chain of memories creep their way into my mind. And I start to freak out. No, no, no, no, no. Fuck, no. It can't be that. That can't be the fucking reason.

It all happened when I was still that silly middle school girl. I was watching Mean Girls and I noted how the hero backed off when he was told that the heroine had a huge crush on him. And by huge crush, I mean writing his name everywhere, painting shits like Mrs(hero's name), counting and naming their future children and all those relatable shits. And I admitted to myself that it was kinda creepy. Plus I used to do similar shits. It was then that I decided, if ever I meet with Lucas, I'll act like I ain't one of his biggest fans and like I don't really know about his fame.

But hell no. This can't be the reason I acted oblivious to the fact that he is famous and I know him very well. No, this isn't the reason.

We walk for about twenty minutes when I come to a halt and I'm honestly glad that I'm home. "My stop is here. This road will lead you to the resort."

He looks at me and smiles,"Thank you."

I giggle because he is thanking me and I actually enjoyed the walk home. I've enjoyed the walk with him more than the walks where I imagine a zombie apocalypse.

Wait, did I just fucking giggle? Oh fuck no. What the fuck is happening to me?

"No problem."

"Maybe I'll see you again?"

I just give him a shrug and walk off towards my house.

This is not me. I'm surely losing my fucking mind. I couldn't have giggled.
