The meeting

I let the Mayor in and he took off his shoes and greeted me. "Hi Amelia, How are you doing."

"Good Mister Bob." I replied as I pulled up a seat for him. "Have you eaten already? I have prepared breakfast." The mayor smiled and looked at me gratefully.

"I would love to eat breakfast. In fact I have not eaten all day. I have visited only one other child today and he was eating pizza and I rather not eat pizza at eight in the morning." The mayor chuckled as he sat in the chair and took a pancake and some bacon and a croissant. I took a croissant and three pancakes and five pieces of bacon along with some fruit. The mayor looked at me sinisterly as if he had bad news he had to tell me. I cleared his throat and began to speak. "The inspectors have been seeing everyone and have been a little concerned that there are no punishments for doing bad things. Of Course if this were a big thing to give orphans a home and then let them live their lives that could result in a lot of criminal activity. If we let you kids do your own thing in your own houses with no reprimanding then there could be drug uses and other bad things. We also want to expand what we ask you about. We ask how living alone is but we never ask about school and how many times a week you have friends over. We also want to make sure that your grades are good enough and we were informed that your report card came in yesterday so I would like to see your grades. Also we would like to see pictures and hear stories of you and your friends. Just to gauge your social life." Mr. Bob took a bite of his pancake as I looked up at him glumly. 'I'm so dead what do I  tell him I have no friends what am I supposed to say. We finished breakfast in silence as I planned what I was going to say to the mayor to make the truth less brutal. When we finished eating I looked at the mayor who was wandering around the house inspecting things. "By the way breakfast was delicious." The mayor said as I did the dishes. When I finished I washed my hands and walked over to my laptop and pulled up my report card. I walked over to the table and asked Mr. Bob

"Do you want to see my report card?" Mr. Bob came over and sat across from me.

"We want you to know that everybody has their downfalls and grades may be one of them. Out of the ten we choose to do this project five have below average grades and out of them one applies themselves but does not get it right and the other four just do not care about grades because nobody reprimands them about grades. We want to help you guys in any way possible and asking a teacher is a good way to get things explained if you are having trouble. I just don't want you to feel pressured by me looking at your grades." The mayor reassured me. I sighed, was he predicting that I have bad grades? Were those five other grades that bad? School is not hard. It takes me an hour to do all my school work and I get full marks every time.

"Here see for yourself." I groaned kind of offended. I turned the laptop so the screen was facing him so he could see for himself. He took the computer and put his glasses down so he could see the small print. He looked and scrolled and the more he read the more his eyes got wide. After he handed back the laptop he looked at me with an expression that only the teachers at my school give me. There was something a little different  about this expression. There was a hint of something that I had never seen before but it made me feel warm, fuzzy and confident.

"This is Amazing Amelia these grades are way above average that is amazing. But my only question is the last part down at the bottom." My smile faded and I looked at him awkwardly.

"That is the part I needed to talk to you about. That also connects to my friends and our relationship." I put the last part in air quotes he looked at me concerned

"How does this have to do with friends?" Mr. Bob asked, concerned by the look on my face.

"From the start of first grade I have been put in different classes contantally and I started to get used to the constant switching of classes. In third grade I realized that changing classes fifteen times a year was not normal. Rumors started to go around about me saying that I was the class switcher. I started to hate switching classes. It was just my IQ and learning skills that were off the charts so they started to put me in grades ahead of my age group. I have been in tenth grade and it was still too easy. That's how I got to the situation I am in now where I don't have any friends because I am never in one class long enough to make a friend. I have never had someone over to my house and I have not made a friend or even talked to my classmates. None of them even remember my name or face so I just kinda became invisible in school. I have finally struck a deal with the principle so that I only have to change classes in case of  emergency or annual changes such as moving up in grade." I explained. Mr. Bob stared at me with pity in his gaze.

"You have not made any friends in your life, not even one?" Mr. Bob asked, looking at me as if I had missed out on the biggest thing in my life. He made me feel kinda sad with the look that he was giving me. Was I missing out on something or was this a personal preference that would not make me feel the same way as it made him feel. I would like to say that I have no interest in knowing how it feels to make friends but that would be the biggest lie I had ever told in my life.

"How are the other kids doing? What are they saying about their friends?" I blurted out like my lips were moving on their own. Mr. Bob chuckled you will know soon enough we are all going to meet together once a month and we will talk about the most important thing that happened that month. So rather than me interpret what they told me they will tell you themselves next week Saturday." My face lit up. I really hope that they like me then maybe I will make friends with one of the kids that feel like me.

"Yay that sounds fun I will mark it down on my calendar." I rushed over to my calendar and marked it down. I went back and sat back down next to him and Mr Bob stood up and said

"I must be going now. I have an important meeting to attend to see you next Saturday Amelia." After he left I enjoyed researching and I barely realized it when it was time to go to bed. I snuggled up underneath my blankets and closed my eyes and replayed today's events from the meeting to finding new similarities from a human's body to animals bodys and learning how to perform a c-section. I learned about the brain and different ways to trigger different reactions from people no matter who you are or your personality the reaction will be the same. I like studying human reactions because I thought that I could use brain tricks to make a friend but then when I thought about it that would be cheating. Also if I did that to make friends then people would not like my personality they would be tricked into liking the way I speak. Also as a side project I learned all the acupoints and how they affect the person. I also learned how to stab peoples acupoints so bullies be where I will acupoint you. With these supportive thoughts in my head I fell asleep.
