Chapter 22: First Day of Medical Assistant turned Head Surgeon Ren Final
After an hour or two, Ren and Orochimaru with the help of the medics, managed to perform on the spot first aids and surgeries. Many medics were astonished with Ren's skills, even Shizune was astonished when she saw how Ren handled situations that even Orochimaru has to be careful of. Right now Ren is currently in the office with Tsunade and Orochimaru.
Orochimaru was staring at Ren while Tsunade is curious about Ren. She heard about Ren's skill from Orochimaru and they both decided to talk to him about it.
"Where did you learn such precise and fast needlework?" Orochimaru asked.
"Why? Its just basic medical knowledge honed to the peak. Besides I'm not obligated to tell you that... don't you think, Lord Orochimaru?" Ren said with a serious tone compared to his goofy expression when Orochimaru first met him.
"Just basic you say? If my medics heard what you're saying they'll happily bury you alive. But I am seriously thinking of taking you as my personal student. Boy, you don't know it yet but you have the potential to be someone great." Orochimaru said looking at Ren in the eye.
"I appreciate the offer, Lord Orochimaru, but I don't want to be someone great. All I want is to hone my medical knowledge because it might be useful to me in the future. Also if I do accept becoming your student, I won't have time to learn from artisans in this village which clashes with what I wanted. What I want and what you want is different, I want to learn all sorts of craft and be self-sufficient in the future. I am just a civilian and I'm happy with that." Ren said with a smile and his serious face was replaced with a carefree one.
"Are you sure about it? Studying under Orochimaru's tutelage would bring you so many benefits though." Tsunade asked one more time.
"Lady Tsunade, I'm fine without those benefits since I only want to learn from the artisans and live my life to the fullest." Ren said and they were surprised at Ren's answers.
"But if you have Orochimaru's backing those artisans would gladly help and assist you." Tsunade said which made Ren furrow his brows.
"Then I can only search for other artisans in other places. The world is so big. Its impossible not to find artisans who are willing to teach their crafts to me." Ren said while thinking.
'I could even kidnap your artisans and threaten them to teach me what I want.' Ren thought to himself but decided to shelf the notion.
"I see. Then I won't push for it anymore. Also Ren you're going to be the one who'll check the patients from now on. I'll handle the paperworks. Treat this as an opportunity to learn." Orochimaru said and sighed as he thought that Ren would quit if he was forced to become his student. So he decided to compromise and let Ren do what he wants. At least the rate of death of the wounded nin would be reduced by a huge margin with Ren at the helm.
"Then my salary..." Ren shamelessly said while smiling as he wants his salary to increase since his job is going to be more difficult.
"Talk to Shizune about it." Orochimaru shook his head while Tsunade chuckled. Orochimaru then passed the files that Ren needs as he bowed before leaving.
"Looks like you pushed the responsibilities to him, turns out you're lazy too." Tsunade said to Orochimaru who is smiling.
"With my assistant doing most of my job, I would have more time on my personal experiments." Orochimaru shamelessly said which made Tsunade's chuckle turn into laughter.
Ren then read the files that Orochimaru gave him, most of them were patients were physically injured, as for those mentally injured, he came back and inquired about it but was told not to bother with it since the Yamanaka Clan is the one responsible for those affected by the war mentally.
"*Sigh* The cruel effects of war." Ren murmured for a second as he continued reading the files.
"What do you mean?" Said a voice near Ren. He was focused on reading the files that he was a little surprised when he heard the voice. He then turned to the speaker and saw Shizune looking at him with clear eyes.
"*Sigh* Don't mind it. Its just me blabbering..." Ren said while Shizune brushed it off.
"Okay." Shizune replied and went to report to Orochimaru.
"Time to work and earn my pay." Ren said as he stood up and started visiting the patients who still needs help.
After hours of working in the hospital, Ren finally came out of the hospital with a tired body. He had basically ran around the entire hospital when another batch of wounded arrived. After dealing with the wave of wounded nins, he still have to check on the patients. He didn't manage to check out how chakra works in their body since Ren doesn't have time to stop and check it out.
"*Sigh* At least I got my pay." Ren said as he looked at the pouch he is holding filled with Konoha's currency.
"What do you want to eat?" Ren asked and a cat landed on his shoulders.
"Let's try and ask where that Teuchi guy is. Finally, we're eating food fit for humans." Yoruichi said which made Ren snigger.
"Aren't you a soul reaper?" Ren said and a claw mark appeared on his cheek before being healed quickly.
"What the heck? I only asked a question." Ren retorted and another claw mark appeared on his cheek. Ren just kept quiet and didn't argue anymore since he is so tired. If he didn't train his stamina, he would surely collapse from running around the hospital earlier.
'F*ck it. I'll just experiment that chakra on myself. No pain no gain. I won't learn anything unless I sacrifice something.' Ren thought to himself as he stopped and asked the people about Teuchi's store.

Meanwhile back at Mount Myoboku, the great toad sage is looking absent-mindedly after what he just saw.
"*Sigh* Looks like I need to call an old friend of mine. I'm pretty sure he had seen it too... the future sage of the Tiger Clan. As for the other... a poisonous purple butterfly will fall the same way he did." Gamamaru sighed once again as he stared at the ceiling as if waiting for something.
