Chapter 18: Cleaning x Goals x New Day
When Ren and Yoruichi entered the house, Ren felt even more thankful. He could see that the house already had furniture that are covered with white cloth.
Although some were covered in dust, once they cleaned it up, it is still in good condition.
"I'm going out to scout the surroundings." Yoruichi said and Ren didn't have the chance to say anything when Yoruichi jumped out of the window and left him alone.
"You just want me to clean this alone!!" Ren shouted. Yoruichi who was just outside heard his voice and just chuckled.
Left with no choice, Ren tied a linen to his face and started planning on cleaning everything. The house is just a bungalow with 5 rooms. He went to Minato and Kushina's house to borrow cleaning materials which the two happily obliged and let him borrow the cleaning tools. Ren returned to his house and stared at what he needs to clean first.
He started by cleaning the cupboards and removed the drawers in the kitchen. He then went to the rooms and removed the drawers of the wardrobes and placed them outside the house. He then started wiping the cupboards clean with the rag he borrowed from Minato's house. He started from the top before cleaning the bottom cupboard. He then started wiping the wardrobe and the drawers outside.
The couples living besides Ren's house were watching him moving back and forth outside the house. Kushina chuckled as she looked at Ren working hard to clean everything. Although the house is indeed a little big for a single person, Ren still took the time to clean every drawer from the wardrobe.
"What a hardworking fellow." Minato said as he admitted that without Kushina's help and urging, he wouldn't clean the house by himself considering how large the house they lived in but Ren started cleaning as soon as he entered his new home and planned on cleaning every nook and cranny of the house.
Hours passed by and Ren's sound of panting could be heard inside the house. He managed to clean everything as he looked at the squeaky clean room in front of him. He returned the cleaning materials to the couple and thought of going outside to take a stroll when he saw that it was already turning dark.
As if knowing his predicament, Kushina poked her head outside and spoke.
"Why don't you invite your cat and come dine with us. I'm sure that you have no money on you yet. I've cooked a lot so don't be shy." Kushina said with a smile.
Ren felt embarrassed that he has already received alot from the couple and thought of rejecting when he saw Kushina smiling but emitting a dangerous aura telling Ren something.
'Are you coming to have dinner with us or I'm going to pull you inside by force?' Ren sighed after seeing the aura she's emitting and sighed and accepted the offer. When Kushina opened the door, Minato had a wry smile and apologetic look as he knew what mostly happened. Although Ren is not scared of the aura that Kushina is releasing but in the end, he indeed doesn't have any funds and it would be troublesome to go out this late and hunt for food.
"Where is your pet, Ren?" Kushina asked as she placed the plates while Minato had scooped some soup and placed it into the table.
"I don't know, Kushina-dono. That pet of mine is unreliable in times of need but at least I have a companion and I don't have to feel alone." Ren said. He wanted to help but their coordination was so good that Ren doesn't have a chance to butt in and if he did butt in forcefully, he would just be a nuisance as he would disrupt the coordination that Kushina and Minato is having so he just sat down obediently and waited for them.
Their dinner was simple fish dish and soup made from beef bones.
"This is all we have right now as we just started living together. I am still learning cooking from Teuchi." Kushina said.
"Its fine. Its much better than what me and my companion is eating back at mount Myoboku." Ren said as the group finally started eating.
"How did you end up at Mount Myoboku anyway?" Minato asked.
"I... I don't know either. Elder Shima said I fell out of the sky when they first saw me." Ren said helplessly.
"Is that so? Is it also true that you want to work at the medical bay?" Minato asked again.
"Yes. I want to learn every trade at the very least so that, like I said, I could become self-sufficient. If I learned woodworking, I could build myself my own furniture, if I learned architecture I could build my own house, if I learned cooking, I don't have to worry about not eating good food and many more. Although the process is going to be long, if I mastered everything, then it will surely be worth it." Ren said and the couple looked at Ren in admiration.
They didn't know what Ren has been through but to plan out everything at his age, he will surely be successful in the future. Many youth at Ren's age are dreaming to become a ninja and make a name for themselves but usually they are the first ones to die in the war. Ren's choice isn't cowardly at all but rather much practical.
Its like 'Why should I endanger my life fighting in the war when I can make money and be safe inside the village.' mindset.
"Then we'll need Ren's help for designing furniture in the future." Kushina joked but Ren only smiled.
"As long as its within my capabilities, I will surely help you." Ren said.
The dinner breezed by and Ren finally returned to his house. When he entered the main bedroom, Yoruichi in her human form is already sleeping naked. Ren didn't have any thoughts as he moved to other room and lied down. He was planning on working at the medical bay first to get some experience in medicine and human body.
When he woke up, he felt his body heavy once again and knew who it was. He opened his eyes to see Yoruichi on top of him.
"What the hell is wrong with this woman? If I remember correctly she's sleeping in the main bedroom, why did she appear here?" Ren asked helplessly. He moved Yoruichi to the side and covered her with a quilt. Although Ren got used to it, Yoruichi's curves is indeed sexy and Ren tried to enjoy her curves but he didn't 'attack' her. He considered it training for the mind.
When he went out of his room, he saw Kushina looking at him with mischievous eyes, he also saw the table full of dishes. He was wondering how'd she come in and remembered that this is their estate and she had the keys. He then had a look of realization in his mind as he stared at the smirking Kushina.
'Looks like she saw Yoruichi.' Ren thought.
"My my, to think that Ren is already picking up a beautiful woman. I haven't seen her in the village though." Kushina teased Ren.
"Its a misunderstanding Kushina-dono. I am free of guilt." Ren said.
He didn't try his best to prove she's wrong as he knows that the more he denies it, the more Kushina will be suspicious of it.
"Then who's she? I haven't seen her in Konoha." Kushina asked while Ren just sighed.
'We're caught anyway. Its better to come clean with Kushina-dono.' Ren thought.
"Well, she's my companion, Yoruichi." Ren said and Kushina confirmed that the woman is indeed the cat that is with Ren.
"Heh~ Is that so? Then share some of these to Yoruichi, these are the keys of this house, be sure to lock up when you leave. Also she's beautiful, take care of her." Kushina chuckled as she left the place.
Ren stared at the leaving Kushina and spoke words that only he could hear.
"Taking care of a troublemaker is troublesome." Ren said as he went to Yoruichi's room to wake her up and have their breakfast before enjoying the first time he will take a look at this village.
