Chapter 17: New Home
"Are you sure you really want to work in the medical area?" Yoruichi asked after they left the elders' house.
"Yes. I need to try out different methods. Who knows, maybe I can use it when the time comes." Ren said.
"Also, I need to see the interactions of the human body and chakra before experimenting with it myself." Ren continued. Yoruichi nodded as she thought that she could experiment with it herself after seeing Ren's experiments.
They spent the rest of the day lazing around which favors Yoruichi but not to Ren. He told himself that he needs to rest after the gruesome training he had but not doing anything is making his hands itch. He wants to do something but he doesn't have anything interesting to play with so he reached his conclusion: If he is suffering, he dragged Yoruichi down with him.
Ren started annoying Yoruichi the whole day that Yoruichi fought back in annoying Ren.
The next day, Jiraiya, the elders, and two new faces appeared in front of Ren.
"Ren, these are the people who will be your neighbor and they agreed that they will let you borrow one of the houses in the estate on the condition that they wanted to see you." Jiraiya said and the couple stared at Ren and his pet cat.
Seeing the stares at them, Ren introduced himself first.
"Hello, my name is Ren... I can't remember my last name because I lost most of it. As for what I do for a living... I guess being a farmer counts? I am also trying to learn about trades, craft, and medicine to be self-sufficient..." Ren was stopped by Elder Shima.
"Ren-boy, no need to discuss such things." She said making Ren slightly embarrassed. He admitted that he was overly passionate about his dream.
"Also, this is my companion, Yoruichi. She's been with me the entire time I arrived at Mount Myoboku." Ren said.
"Meow." Yoruichi meowed like a cat and introduced herself.
"I see, Ren. My name is Minato Namikaze and this is my love- ouch! Hey stop that! Anyway she's Kushina Uzumaki. Jiraiya is my teacher and he approached us about you asking for a temporary residence. What do you think, Kushina?" Minato asked Kushina beside him who is slightly red earlier as pinched Minato in the middle of his sentence but when Minato asked her, she turned serious and inspected Ren up close.
"Do you think, if we have a child in the future, he would grow up like Ren?" Kushina asked an out of the topic question which made Ren tilt his head in confusion.
"I-its okay if you don't want to Minato-dono, Kushina-dono, I will just try my best to work and earn my own place." Ren said a little nervous. He was observing the couple and were looking about any signs if Jiraiya told them about the new prophecy but it looked like he didn't tell his student at all which was a good sign for Ren.
"Would he grow polite like Ren as well?" Kushina asked Minato who had a wry smile on his face.
"Kushina... let's talk about this after we get home, okay? We are here because of Ren." Minato rubbed his cheek using his index finger as he looked apologetic over everyone.
"Its fine, I like Ren. He's much more likeable and polite than you when you were at his age, ya know?" Kushina said as he turned towards Ren.
"You can have the house. Its yours. No one's living in it anyway, it will just collect dust." Kushina said and Minato was about to react but he shut up when he saw Kushina's eyes staring at him.
'I dare you, I double dare you.' Is what the eyes are saying so Minato just shut up and resigned. Its just a house anyway, Kushina was right, it would just collect dust and it would be a hassle to clean it up every time but with Ren occupying the house, they don't have to worry about it being dusty.
"Thank you. I will only borrow it temporarily until I have a stable source of income, I will repay this debt in the future. Minato-dono, Kushina-dono." Ren dogeza to express his thanks. He doesn't have anything in value just yet but he will not be stingy and share some of his gains to those who helped him. He's not a saint who will help everyone but he would repay back those who helped him 10x the price.
"Stand up, Ren. Just take it as a gift from me. From now on we're neighbors. If you need anything just call me or Minato, okay?" Kushina said as Ren looked up and nodded.
"Great now that everything's settled, we can transfer right away." Jiraiya said. Ren nodded as he really didn't have anything to bring anyway. Jiraiya led the way until they reached a well and one of Elder Shima's subordinates used reverse summoning jutsu on the other side.
The group was summoned once more and they appeared in front of a well with a small house on its side. Ren was curious about how they were teleported to this place but decided to think of it later.
"Ah. Elder Shima, Elder Fukasaku, how will I return back to Mount Myoboku? I still have to tend the land after a few weeks." Ren asked.
"Land? You mean you're going to cure the barren land in mount Myoboku?" Jiraiya asked. Although he had been to mount Myoboku, he just came there to practice and train.
"Its not barren but poisonous. I'm going to use it as it is and use plants that are poisonous, maybe it can help the land instead." Ren explained, Elder Shima then rummaged her basket and took out a small scroll.
"Here take this scroll. Open it in front of the well. Once you opened it, it will notify us that you are here." Elder Shima gave Ren a little scroll. She knows that Ren doesn't have anything to do with chakra so she will have someone teleport Ren back to Mount Myoboku, its one of the land of sages after all.
"Thank you, Elder Shima, Elder Fukasaku for taking care of me." Ren bowed his head once more as the elders just smiled at Ren.
"Let's go to your new home." Kushina said as she hugged Minato's arm while Jiraiya is cringing inside. Yoruichi on the other hand was just curious about the things happening in front of her eyes. The Elders didn't come with them as they watched them leave the area.
Minato and Kushina brought Ren to the unused house beside their home. Jiraiya have split up with them because he said he needs some kind of enlightenment so he will have to look for 'inspirations'.
After they arrived at the entrance of the house, Ren noticed that it was still clean but there's some dust building up. He estimated that this place was cleaned not too long ago, maybe about a week ago.
"Do you like it?" Kushina asked Ren with a smile.
"Thank you very much for your help." Ren bowed his head in gratitude.
"You're welcome. Do you need some help in cleaning? We can help, ya know?" Kushina said but Ren shook his head. They have already helped him a lot and he wouldn't take advantage of Kushina's kindness.
"Thank you for asking but I feel like I should clean this up myself, its going to be my home after all." Ren said as Kushina and Minato just smiled as they really liked Ren's attitude.
"Oh well, call us if you need something." Kushina said as she pulled Minato away and entered their home.
"What a weird and funny couple." Yoruichi said while Ren nodded his head.
"Indeed, a weird and funny couple." Ren supported Yoruichi's statement as they went inside to check their new home.
