Chapter 13: Self-training
After their fight, Ren really didn't have anything to do. He didn't want to meet with the toads considering what just happened last night.
He then looked at Yoruichi who's yawning and seems like ready to sleep once again. Since Ren doesn't have anything to do, he sat down and meditated. He doesn't really know meditation initially but meditation is one of the most used technique by Korosensei.
Before he became Korosensei, the reaper uses meditation to map out everything from his targets, optimal routes to go to, optimal escape routes, optional entryways, optional escape routes. The reaper didn't have to worry about memorizing the map because of his amazing and sharp memory that Ren now gained.
When he turned into Korosensei, he used meditation on how to solve his student's problems and what kind of teaching will he use with them. Somehow, Ren envied Korosensei's students because of the passion and care that he invested in them.
Ren had a hard time entering the meditation state in the few minutes but soon entered the calm and peaceful state of meditation.
When Ren meditated, he was surprised as hell. His senses mapped out everything for him. Although his eyes are closed, Ren could see the surroundings like the trees, the sleeping Yoruichi, the calm breeze. Ren also perceived a weird yellow energy in the air.
He didn't like the vibe it gives so he didn't do anything about it and just let it do what it wants since he can't do anything to it.
Ren also perceived a weird blue energy floating in the air and saw it passing through his body and not interacting with him.
After removing all the distractions, Ren started focusing on his ability to produce poison. He thought of his body releasing toxins. A purple liquid with black spots covered Ren's body. Yoruichi opened her eyes and saw the cross-legged Ren covered in the purple stuff that she assumed is the poison.
A drop of poison fell on the ground that Ren is sitting on and a slight sizzle could be heard indicating that the poison is a dangerous one.
Ren then slowly willed himself to stop emitting the poison and the purple liquid entered his body once more.
Ren then opened his eyes and started panting. The immense focus he emitted just now took a toll on his mind. But he succeeded in what he wanted to do... controlling the poison. He would need to this lots of times to perfectly will the poison to come out with one thought of Ren's mind and turning it off with one thought.
Ren then rested for a few minutes before diving deep into meditation once again. He kept turning the poison on and off in his body. His efficiency is slowly getting better and faster.
'Although this poison is deadly, if I want to make it stronger or deadlier... I would need to inject myself... with strong poison and hope that my body, would produce the antibodies to fight the poison back.' Ren thought to himself.
After a few hours of constantly training, Ren finally exhausted himself mentally. He opened his eyes to see Yoruichi grilling a fish.
"Want some?" Yoruichi offered but Ren shook his head. He is still not done training yet. He removed his shirt and started doing physical training. The reaper has lots of techniques that he couldn't use because of his weak physical body.
Ren was fascinated of that one technique that the reaper has created after he became Korosensei.
Shadow Clone.
Due to his immense speed, Korosensei was able to leave a tangible image of himself for a few seconds that he could use as a decoy. Ren didn't really understand the logic about it because he can't move the same way Korosensei does. He does have a theory that Korosensei would return to the same spot after making sure that there's no danger in that spot, with his speed it is doable and not impossible at all.
There was also a technique that requires him to use two daggers and knock them to make a noise, causing the opponent to be dazed.
There also techniques that uses internal energy. Ren's understanding of internal energy, is the inner strength or hidden untapped potential inside a human's body. He doesn't really understand the complexity of it. He needs time to at least learn about things like that. Maybe he could ask Elder Shima about it, but not now.
Ren after doing the physical workouts, started polishing his skills. His complex manoeuvres impressed even Yoruichi. Ren is currently imaging Korosensei, he is trying to best him but whatever Ren does, Korosensei would always deal with him with the most efficient way as possible.
Due to Ren's immense concentration, Yoruichi was shocked once again. She saw Ren's opponent, a tall octopus figure is fighting Ren and he would always counter Ren's attack.
'Did Ren's assassin skills come from this guy?' Yoruichi thought.
After 2 hours of continues physical exertion, Ren finally wrapped his training up and bowed to Korosensei. He then went in front of the campfire that Yoruichi made and sat down.
Ren is full of sweat as he thought of every flaws of his move. Korosensei's techniques are the same as his but Korosensei's techniques are far more refined than him, his techniques are full of flaws and Korosensei would always use that to his advantage.
'What a great teacher.' Ren thought to himself as he panted.
"So... that's the guy who gave you those skills?" Yoruichi asked as she picked up another fish and took a bite before frowning. Their food tasted so bland that she started hating eating.
Ren nodded as he also took a fish on a stick and took a bite. The blandness of the food didn't bother him as he is thinking of the fight he had with Korosensei and thought of how to remove the flaws in the techniques.
While he was thinking, his ears pricked and suddenly threw the stick to a tree.
"Who's there?" Ren asked.
A purple toad with makeup appeared carrying a basket with something covered in cloth in it.
"Greetings Ren-sama... I am Gamakikyo, Gamaken's little sister. Elder Shima told me to bring you this." She then removed the cloth and Ren saw that there are condiments in there as well as a huge slab of meat.
"Thank you for this." Ren shot out a smile to Gamakikyo as her tension was reduced.
She saw everything happened in front of her eyes. She saw Ren fighting the air at first then she suddenly saw the octopus figure that Ren is fighting and saw that Ren is no match to it. After giving the offering to Ren, she excused herself and went back.
At first, Ren thought of killing the toad but he stopped. Sooner or later, they would find out that he could fight, if they asked him how he could fight, he would just tell them Yoruichi taught him how to protect himself after learning about the dangerous world.
Ren went back to thinking of his fight with Korosensei while Yoruichi's eyes sparkled after seeing the condiments and immediately rubbed the river fish with some salt and grilled it.
Ren have seen Korosensei using Shadow Clone on him so many times. He would think that the one in front of him was an after image when suddenly it would attack him catching him off guard and when he attacked back it would suddenly become an after image.
Ren then thought if he could use the shadow clone, if he has anything that could supplement that speed, then he could use it and he thought of something. He was so silly that the answer was right in front of him and it took him this long to figure it out.
"Yoruichi! Train me how to use Shunpo!" Ren said startling Yoruichi who is nibbling on the grilled fish happily.
