Making Progress. . Little By Little

After watching Spidey in action I am definently resolved in my idea. . to not be a hero. It's a horribly thankless career and you don't get injury pay. Not saying I wouldn't want to save a life or two, but it's not for me. And a villain, nah. Always someone chasing you down. I'll take a happy medium.

Instead of taking the shadow travel, me and Abby jump from rooftop to rooftop. The occasional walk on walls. Which was an AWESOME thing to discover! I'm a regular anime ninja now. Hahaha.

Once we find a motel to snuggle into I tell Abby the same thing as last night. She's quite agreeable with me lately, though it's only been two days together. I do believe we've made progress.

.

. A Nice Restful Sleep Later

.

Ya~~wn. Ahh, that was nice. Did I ever mention how hard it was to sleep for months? I did? Cool. Just saying Abby is that awesome. Gotta remind myself to not forget.

I check my inventory and only three bodies? And where the hell is my money?!

"Hey Abby, I know I should be happy it was only three people but what happened?!"

{There were less undesirables - you should be thankful for that. And I may have given some help to some children.}

"Why the sweet bejebus would you do that! We kind of need that money for food! Who did you help that needed freaking 800 dollars!"

{They were hapless little ones. The two older females smelled of use and resentment. The boy they cared for also carried the same scent. I figured you would want to help such children}

Use and resentment? How do you even smell resentment of all things? And. . oh shit, that's too dark. I don't need that thought first thing when I wake up.

"Fine, whatever. It was for a good cause. A really good one. So how did they even get in here."

{The three I ate brought them. I believe for. . lower based reasons. I couldn't let them suffer. So I dealt with the matter.}

"You are such a momma. Calling me a child yet still helping me out; and now those three. I think you actually have a soft spot."

{This is why I call you a child. Always pointing out the little things.}

"Well how did you talk the kids then? I've never seen you grow a head on my shoulder or anything."

{Magic, little one. Shadow magic to be exact. I can indeed grow a head or extra limb from you, but I understood using the shadows to form my spirtual form into a avatar for me would be best.}

Holy shadow clones. Oh my god SHADOW CLONES! I'm gonna be Naruto! Hopefully not as clueless. . . shit, I kinda am.

"So you were able to calm them down? That had to be a rough situation. I didn't even wake up."

{I merely block the soundwaves from reaching you so you can sleep}

"Aww, ain't you just sweet"

{Hush Richard, but yes it was. It was taxing dealing with children such as lowly as you beings are. I told them to return here if they ever needed my help}

Heh, I may not want to be a hero. But I know someone who might be one to three kids.

"So I guess we gotta make more money. We do have all these crates we need to sell off I guess. But how do you know if they will be alright. Anyone could jump them if they find out the cash they have."

{Shadow magic}

Damn you awesome. Not just a momma, but a momma bear.

{Don't expect more. I am a being of phenomenal cosmic strength, a master practitioner of the aura in the universe, a studious learner of magic, and I can only make my user stronger through merging together. . . and you, child, are not strong enough for all my powers.}

"Oh yes wise sensei", I snickered, "Really went all deep in the mystical voice there. Look, I get it. I'm just a normal guy, but you want to help those kids then I'm all for it. We a team here, whether you like me or not, and I'll back your decisions."

{. . . I appreciate the gesture. God Knull, in all his splendor, did not take my words to heart during our final battles before we lost}

"Oh, how did that happen?"

{Another time, perhaps}

"Okay, I know when not to push the issue. Well then we need money and quickly. I know just the guy we can sell to. Just gotta find a person to send the message along."

.

.

.

Just want to say that holy hell there alot of gangs in NYC and alot of them report up the ladder to Wilson Fisk, the kingpin. If that don't say he's a badass then I don't know what does. I had to rough up a few guys, let Abby have a meal so she doesn't get cranky, but I did get my message to him.

Their ability to send a message down the ranks is as phenomenal as high school students spreading gossip. Top notch stuff.

We were asked to meet at, surprise surprise, the docks at one of the many warehouses he owned. Hopefully a little intimidation keeps them culled.

"Hey Abby, you think we look imposing in this form? I look like im in a Tick costume with Soren Falbys' body covered in red."

{Like I said, child, this body is made to perfection}

"Are you saying you made me into your own ken doll?"

{I have no knowledge of what a ken doll is}

"Oh well it is basically a girls' toy that they can-"

{Hush, they are coming}

Wow. Just wow. It's the Duncan! Holy cow, I can't believe I get to see Michael freaking DUNCAN! Shhh. . calm down, keep it cool. He's Wilson Fisk here, the Kingpin, the leading model of organised crime. Hell, he IS organized crime.

Fisk: "So you have called for me. And for what reason may I ask? There must be a good reason to cause quite the stir in my organization. Why, some even call you a cannibal."

Me: "Well of course Kingpin, may I call you that? I know you must have heard of Hammerheads' lost cargo. Well I'm here to sell it to you."

Fisk: "Oh really? Well I must say I'm impressed. There was alot unaccounted for. But how are you going to get it to me?"

This is gonna be good. I use Abby's shadow abilities to summon a crate from my inventory. Like straight up. I feel like a boss.

Ha! Freaked out his men! Point for me. Dang,

does Fisk have one hell of a pokerface, he only lifted an eyebrow.

Fisk: "So I take it you can get me the rest?"

I say with a flourish, "But of course! I grabbed everything I could before the Spidey showed up. Didn't want to my abilites to be seen."

Fisk scoffed: "Yet another person scared of a man in a suit."

Me: "Not scared. Proactive. I may have shown you this little bit but even I like to keep secrets from the masses."

Fisk: "Hmm, very well. If you can get me the rest of the goods then I will pay you handsomely."

Me: "How much we talking here? I'd like to be paid up front. A man's gotta eat his fill."

Fisk: "2.8 million"

Oh. Oh my. I think my heart stopped. That's alot of money. I felt Abby pushing me forward to shake his hand. Bah, he tried to crush my hand. You may be stronger than most metahumans, but I have a symbiote! Think I surprised him a little.

Fisk: "If you can provide them quickly, we may be able to talk some business. I wouldn't object to hiring such a man with your skills."

Put me in a tight spot why don't cha, bastard. Ugh, Abby, bring up the crates while I talk. Hopefully I can turn him down gracefully.

{Done oh great master}

Oh sod it, you know I HIGHLY respect you.

Me: "While I believe you are capable of paying fees, Kingpin, but I'm not working right now. Think of me doing a side job while on vacation."

Fisk: "And after?"

Me: "I will consider it but no promises."

Fisk: "Very well - I see you are almost done?"

Me: "Multi-tasking, a useful ability."

I say with a smile. It's nice to feel like a badass. Praise onto Abby the most splendiferous! Heh, I feel her blush. Poor woman must have never been shown much affection in her life. Gotta fix that. With the power of friendship!

Fisks' underling shows up with the cases of money and waits for his instructions.

Fisk: "Go ahead and check the money. I wouldn't want you thinking I swindled you."

Throwing the cases into my inventory via shadow I see 2.8 million pop up. And a nice little 'bug' in one of the slots. I bring the cases out of the shadows and return them; keeping the bug so i can throw it in the river later. Ooh! Maybe leave some bones next to it as a warning, heh heh heh~~.

Smiling Me: "Thank you kindly. I shall be taking my leave now. Enjoy the goods, even had them sorted for you."

I bow and shadow travel away into a corner to spy on them. Fisk asks them if the tracker was working. He received an unacceptable no. Heh heh.

Fisk: "Get to work. I want this all sorted and divided where it needs to go. And you, find me that man. Keep the tracker up, he'll show up eventually."

As much fun as it was watching them scatter, we had to skedaddle. I'm borderline starving and Abby will be soon.

Bonding through food. I guess this is progress.
