Chapter 284: Chapter 284: Tiring responsibilities

"Ugh. This is so tiring." Elize complained, plopping back on her couch. "I don't want to go."

Her lips pursed in protest as Irina shook her head at her. She had just woken up from a whole day of sleep and was still groggy from it. If it were not for the witch shaking her awake, Elize would have been sleeping at least for a few good hours more. Skye, on the other hand, had been sleeping soundly since yesterday and had not woken up except for a short while when she had come down to the kitchen to grab something to eat. 

The sun was tilted more towards the west, and there was at least a good two hours before it started showing signs of setting. The evening light pushed through her airy white curtains and lit up the house, making the chandelier right in the center of the hall in front of the stairs gleam and reflect all over the walls. It also reached the plush sofa set that the girls were sitting on, making tiny round patches on Elize's messy hair.
