Chapter 198: Almost Official

The mailbox was only a few feet away from the FBI agents' car. Seeing Claire puttering around in front of it would be too tempting for them to resist; she was sure of it. 

She unlocked her house's slot and, while blocking the box from their line of sight, quickly manipulated the mail inside. A coupon catalogue advertising Christmas deals was inside as well so she stuffed a couple of the letters into that and was sure to put a piece of junk mail with her name on it atop the rest of the stack. 

That way it looked like she was simply a girl collecting her own mail for the first time all week. She did this fast enough, while pretending to grope around the back of the slot for anything she might have missed, that they wouldn't notice what she was up to.
