Chapter 60: TGP Entering the Capital

Li Amm had only taken a few steps when a 'thud' sounded behind her. She instinctively looked back.

Twelve was kneeling on the ground. There was a severe burn on his back.

Li Amm immediately went to him and helped him up. Without any words, Twelve opened the cloth he was holding. The two tiny children were hugging each other. Half of their body was burned. But Li Amm could feel their heavy breaths. They are still alive!

Li Amm looked gratefully at Twelve. She did not ask about the old man, she helped Twelve to carry the other children while they ran to the dog hole she had crawled into.

Two shadows made their way into the woods of Lin City, taking advantage of this chaotic night.

Li Amm found the coachman.

The coachman was uneasy all this time after he saw the big fire in the City. Afterwards, he soon heard the sound of the horn. This indicated that the city was under attack. The coachmen became anxious. He was about to leave when he saw the lady.

The driver immediately went to Li Amm. He was about to ask if there was an attack in the Lin city when he saw the two children whining in pain even in their dreams.

Without a word, he helped them into his carriage and hastened his horses to the capital.

However, there was a huge problem when they were about to enter the city next to the capital.

There was a group of men guarding the entrance and exit of the city. They were wearing imperial armors. These were the imperial guards of the Ren Empire.

The carriage driver made a halt.

One of the guards approached the carriage. His stern voice reached to the people inside the carriage,

"No one is allowed to enter and exit the capital. Please return."

The carriage driver paled,

"Young Sir, we just passed by Lin City. The city is in fire and there is a war going on!"

The soldier's expression did not faze a bit.

"So was the capital. General Ren Shou commits treason. He attacked the palace. Right now, we cannot guarantee your safety so you have to return back."

The coachman was flabbergasted.

"Sir, I know you heard me, Lin City is on fire! If you are here guarding the city, then does it mean that the capital is safer?"

The guard unsheathed his sword. The sharp metal reflected a bit of moonlight.

The driver immediately shut up. He treasured his life. He could not return to the capital and he could not go back to the chaotic Lin city. What he could do? Stay in the woods until this war was over?

Suddenly a soft voice sounded inside the carriage.

"Sirs, have you received an order from the Imperial palace to not let suspicious people in?"

The soldier put back his swords to its sheath.

"As lady guessed, this is an imperial order that we can't disobey."

"What if we are not suspicious people, will you let us in?"

"Lady, you traveling at night is something to be suspicious of. So please take your carriage away from here before I kill your driver and drag you out of your carriage forcefully."

The driver who heard that his life was at stake here paled.

Li Amm opened the curtain and get out.

"Please take a look at the carriage. I have two children with severe burns and a dying man." The dying man, Twelve, brow twitched.

The guard raised his brow but still followed Li Amm. He checked the carriage. He was stunned to see the half body burnt of the children and the deep wound of the man who was facing the floor of the carriage.

"We just escape from the city on fire. Please, we are not soldiers and we can't harm anybody with our fragile bodies. Please, so we will be forever indebted to you if you take the children and the dying man in. They need to be treated."

The guard hesitated. What the lady said was true. How can two wounded children and half-dead man impose a threat to the capital?

But he was loyal to his orders.

"Lady-" He was about to reject when Li Amm took off her hood.

"Truth to be told, I am General Ren Shou's wife. If I surrender myself now, would you take these people in? After all, taking me as the hostage is the Emperor's first priority now."

"!!!" The guards and the coachman were shocked.

Lady Ren was quite known in the capital. She was rumored to be as beautiful as a celestial fairy that the cold and handsome General was awed by her beauty and gave her an incredible wedding. There were also rumors about how she hosted the most unforgettable banquet in the Ren Empire's history with the Ministers and the Emperor.

Seeing the unrivaled beauty in front of them, even covered with ashes and dirt, she was still astounding as ever.

The guard saw Li Amm before in a banquet. She was clearly Lady Ren!

"Young Sir, please make up your mind right now." Li Amm urged the guard.

"A-ll right. These people could come in. My Lady, please come with me." Since Li Amm was willing to surrender herself, the guards were polite with her and treated her like a nobility.

Her manners and confidence were making the guards intimidated by her. They clearly forgot that her very surname was now facing treason in the capital.

Two carriages left the gate. One went to the capital and the other to the lower part of the city next to the capital.

A sword pierced into a place guard's chest. Warm blood spattered as Ren Shou retrieved his sword from the man he just killed. His flawless face had now dots of red blood, accentuating his handsome figure akin to a demon lord.

It was a good thing he was wearing black. Or else his clothes would dye red by the blood of the men he killed.

"Traitor!" A palace guard gathered his courage to stab the mighty general of the Ren Empire. However, he was only two meters away when his head rolled to the ground. The cold-hearted general was faster than him.

Ren Shou looked coldly at the headless man on the ground.

"You will die as a traitor if you all stop me." His expressionless voice brought shivers to the remaining guards who were stopping Ren Shou into the throne room.

Then his ruthless eye pierced them with coldness and death,

"Step aside, or your head will roll. Choose." He raised up his swords and pointed at the pitiful guards who were shivering in fear.
