"A fake...shit...I can't believe I fell for that. I should've known from the moment you didn't use our telepathic connection to communicate with me," I muttered, frustrated with myself.
"It's alright, Master...this is my fault for not getting here sooner," Mei Gui replied with a concerned expression on her face. She then turned to face the imposter with eyes full of killing intent and hatred.
"You...you hurt Master..." she said, voice cold and unwavering. She was trembling from rage, but since she had to support me, she couldn't just go slash the imposter apart...though from the look in her eyes, it was clear she wanted to.
Mei Gui...you really care about me, huh?
Heya guys! Cyclxne here.
In last chapter's afterword, I said Xuan Kai was going to advance to the next Chaos stage in this chapter...well, I lied. The battle took longer to explain than expected. Don't worry though! The advancement will be coming soon enough. While I'm at it, I'll also get Xuan Kai to begin learning some Level Three spells, maybe...
That aside, I know a lot of you might be concerned about the strength of these so-called 'Golden Monarchs'...well, just let me put it this way - a 5 year old genius versus a grown man. An apt analogy, yes? Xuan Kai is the 5 year old, while a Golden Monarch is a grown man.
In a battle of pure physical strength, sure, the 5 year old would never be able to beat the grown man. However, in a real fight, strategies and tactics are often far more important than strength alone. Xuan Kai took advantage of Golden Monarchs underestimating him, thus letting their guard down. Not letting these chances slip by, Xuan Kai took the shot - and the bullet hit its mark.
Moreover, said '5-year-old' has an insane cheat that basically turns him into like, a 12-year-old in terms of strength, but still a genius. So yeah, I hope this explanation helps in how Xuan Kai was able to beat Golden Monarchs. If our MC here were to face a full-on Golden Monarch that was actually smart and does not underestimate his opponents, Xuan Kai would definitely lose.
For example, if Song Qian Long and Xuan Kai were to have a 1v1, well - godson would 100% lose to godfather (who is the #1 most powerful mage in Shenzhen, by the way).
Anyway, that's all from me for now!
And as always, I'll see you guys in the next chapter~
