Chapter 6: Episode 3: The 7 Mystery Curses (Part II)
Silver was about to knock on my door when he realized that my door was already unlocked. Feeling something's wrong he immediately opened the door wide in a flash. I wasn't in my bedroom at all.
"Master, if this is another one of you shenanigans, it isn't funny, " Silver called out.
He immediately remembered how interested I was looking at the Game Master Book and rushed over to room he locked it in. It was still locked, nothing touched. He immediately unlocked the door to find the book missing too. Even the traps and magic security were oddly untouched let alone set off. He called upon Roselina and Lazarus immediately to meet in his room.
"This is terrible, " Rosalina said in worry, "We should tell the King about this and-."
"We can't, " Silver said stopping Roselina's sentence, "If we tell a word to the king or anyone else in this castle that your mother sent in that book and that the Master disappeared because of it, you'll be sent to the dungeon for your mother's crimes. And I know for a fact that the Master doesn't want that to happen to you."
"H-He's right, " Lazarus added, "B-but what shall we d-do?"
Silver thinks as the other two retainers look to Silver with worry. He lifts his head back up as he looks to Roselina.
"You have body illusion potions, right, " Silver asked, "You can use that as your cover as I look for the Master. Lazarus will stay with you, we need to make sure this cover up sticks long enough to find him."
They both nodded as they go their separate ways. In Roselina's room, she takes the body illusion potion and drinks it, making her look like me completely, which impresses Lazarus. With Silver, he's using his Wolfkin nose sense to sniff out my scent, which he eventually tracked down all the way to the top of the castle. But it stops at the very edge.
"No... he didn't fall... did he, " he said in a concerned panic.
He rushes outside to the front gate without being spotted and sniffed around. He catches my scent once again and noticed it in the water ditch of the castle.
"Dear gods..., " he mouthed in shock.
He jumped into the water to find the book and looked to see if he found my body. No luck. He gets out of the water and tries to open the book. It's sealed shut. He took it with him as he headed back to my room.
"At least I know he didn't drown..., " he said sighing, "But... I don't know how to get him out... What am I going to do? Maybe the library...?"
Meanwhile, with Roselina and Lazarus, she is trying her best to act as me for a entire day. Maybe some clumsy falls here and there, but acted out perfectly throughout most of the day. She was doing fairly well.
"Wow, y-you're great at this, " Lazarus complimented.
"Thanks, " Roselina said smiling, "I study him a lot."
He looked at Roselina in a bit of a surprise, "W-What?"
Realizing what she said, started to blush in embarrassment, "W-What I mean is I observe him-. I-I mean I inspect-! AAAAHHHH I'm just making this more confusing! Let's just go!"
By the time the bell rang for 9 o'clock at night, Lu walked towards Roselina and noticed immediately there's something wrong the moment she met with them in the afternoon. She looked at Roselina very carefully as she poked her in the chest.
"Lazarus, explain to me why Ros-, " she said before Lazarus covered her mouth and both him and Roselina to the library where Silver was coincidentally looking at every book in the shelves.
"Lady Luna, thank goodness your here, " Silver said in relief, "Please help the Master!"
"Whoa whoa, calm down. What's wrong you guys, " she questions.
Before Silver could explain, the book began to open by itself and started to glow. It was so bright that it was blinding and by the time it stopped the book was destroyed and my body laid on the floor sleeping.
"I... was just about to say that the Master has gotten himself trapped in the book of Game Master, but that got resolved already, " he said in relief.
"But... but how's that possible, "Lu said as she picked up one of the broken pieces of the Game Master book, "We all know Sol, he isn't really... knowledgeable enough to solve any of the 7 Mystery Curses at all... unless..."
Lazarus started to tear up, "L-Lady Luna does that mean he is-?"
I yawn cut off what Lazarus was about to say as I began to stretch my arms.
"That was an amazing nap, haven't slept like that in ages! Huh? Hey Lu, what are you... doing here... early? Um... did I miss something?"
"Do you... remember what happened, " Silver asked, "No pain. No suffering. Nothing?"
"No... nothing. Last thing I remember was going to bed last night. Say, what time is it?"
"It's 9 o'clock, Master, " Roselina answers.
"Ah! I'm late for my royal duties!"
"A-Actually, Roselina covered for you, " Lazarus explained, "I-It's now... 9 o'clock... a-at night."
"I SLEPT IN THE WHOLE DAY!?"
After the commotion, everyone went back to their bedrooms to sleep. Everyone except Roselina. Just as soon as me and her were alone, she hugged me tightly and began to cry.
"W-What's wrong-?"
"I was scared... terrified even... , " Roselina said in tears, " I thought that my mother... took you from me too..."
"Oh no... hey Roselina... It's okay... Whatever happened between me and that weird book is over. So don't cry."
"B-But..., " Roselina whimpered.
"No butts Ms. Hazelnut. You have to trust me that I did okay in that book. If I didn't win, that book would still be in tact meaning that I won somehow and no one else has to get hurt by that very book."
Roselina looked down then nodded, "O-Okay... I believe you, Master."
"Besides, if she sent that book then there must be another reason behind it than just trying to split our friendship up again. It's extreme even for your mother's standards. But! We'll figure that out after we sleep!"
She giggled a bit, "But you just slept in the book all day, Master. How much sleep do you actually need?"
I paused. I realized I woke up just to fall asleep again? Why am I so tired? Why am I so eager to sleep so soon after I just woke up from that long of a nap? All these questions ran through my head, but a sharp pain in my head stopped me in my thought process as I began to forget those wandering thoughts.
"I don't know, guess I'm just weird like that."
Whatever happened in that book would remain a mystery. But every time I think of sleeping... it gave me an odd warm feeling inside. A different feeling. Like... I'm expecting something. But what exactly? I can't remember.
