Chapter 2: Unexpected Companion

'Now that I know what I can do... I should think of I should do... Who moved these bodies to this place? Must of been a servant or something along those lines right? If I can take one of them I can surely take his place and leave right? None would notice one fewer body in this pile of corpses...'

Just as I started to plan and position myself far away from where that two headed beast should be showing up at, I noticed movement, a drake, smaller than me, starts moving and whimpering, making me realise that I must be quite big since the drake is around 2 meters long and still I instinctively know that I am bigger.

'Another one of my siblings in torture and pain? What should I do about it? Try and help them? I can't even guarantee my own safety, much less a probably crazed and horribly crippled companion... Had my mind not somewhat compartilized my 6 different memories I would most likely be a schizophrenic maddned mess right now, was this a result from the system?'

'Even if I do wish to bring along those that I can from this hell, I don't think I am even able to so such... but maybe... I should atleast give it a chance!'

I determined to not leave a mark on my conscience, decided to do the least I could for it, by using the Power of Life to heal its body and Blessing of Nature to soothe its mind. It's eyes which contained pain, confusion and despair started to calm down and soon be replaced by a look of determination and will to survive.

'There was a intelligent glimmer in those eyes I swear! But I have done all I am willing to do for you at this moment, good luck to you! May, in case we survive, our paths cross in the future.'

And so I rested a bit after overtaxing my mind and power in both testing it and helping my neighbor... I would need all the strength I have for what I was about to do...

-----

Soon the door to the feeding chamber opened, and with it came goblins carrying a cart with a number of whelps, some with a slight silver gleen with a rainbow colour, others a mix of different colours, most were deformed, either bloated, shriveled, missing limbs or other types of deformities.

Noticing that the number of goblins was quite small for the amount of bodies they carried, he began to take into account the details of what they carried to find that they did indeed carry keys with them, as for how far could he go with the keys of servants he would have to find out in the future...

Doing his best impression of a corpse while cautiously observing his prey, Theo did not notice that he was being watched all along.

-----

'They are coming.... What can I do?! No more pain! no more!' thought the small drake to herself, while confronting her fear and hearing the many voices in her head start to get louder and louder she did her best to stay focused.

'What friend will do? Can friend help?' she looked at Theo with expectancy, the one who was the only light and hope she found in her suffering and madness.

She saw him pretending to be dead and imitated him, she did not know what he was doing but decided that it should be better than trying and think with her disheleved mind how to save herself.

She kept watching and saw him taking peeks at the green creatures that brought a cart full of dead whelps along with them, she felt like she understood his intentions, he had a look of a predator waiting for his prey.

Four goblins were present, each of them were green with small stature and long ears, they wore leather and had thick goggles on their faces and head, they looked disarmed at first and could not present much danger.

She decided to focus on what her friend will do and follow suit as soon as he moved.

-----

As soon as the goblins approached the pile of corpses and got ready to unload the bodies, two shadows overtook them, two were crushed by long tails and the other two were pinned down by claws.

"You will tell me how to leave this place or suffer, your choice!" said the bigger of the drakes.

Theo came to the decision that staying any longer would mean he would become food, he needed to make use of this opportunity to flee before they noticed he was gone, none would notice a few "snacks" going missing right?

The two goblins seeing that two of them laid dead on the floor looked reluctant to awnser but also reluctant to risk their lifes, nothing was more important to a goblin than his own safety, maybe only money could make them less inclined to their own safety atleast...

Seeing their reluctant faces he decided to up his tone and bit the shoulder of the goblin he pinned down.

"Aaargh!! I will tell, I will tell!"

"Speak! Now!"

"We are at the top of the mountain, there are many dragonkin guards, goblins and orcs, only by killing a guard on this floor can you obtain a medallion which authorizes you to go up or down the mountain! Either kill a drakonid or Orc captain! I swear!"

Seeing that he got the anwser he wanted he swiftly put the two hostages to sleep with his Blessing of Nature and when he was sure they both were in a deep sleep that would take atleast a day to wake he looked at his unexpected companion while panting.

"You can come with me if you wish, but follow my lead and do as I do, if you get behind I will not look back!" He said with what could only be described as a stern face in his dragon form.

"Un" She grunts as she nods, as she relaxes by seeing his friend take her in the voices in her head start to subsidizes until they become constant mumurs in the back of her head.
