Chapter 41: Eat With Unknown Woman

However, the true reason for why she chose to eat here was because this hotel was extremely far from the Jinlu Complex. . .

Since the LIQuan Company owns this hotel, Lu Chenjun decided to book the entire restaurant in the lobby. Few people wanted to eat here during Valentine's Day anyway, so Lu Chenjun was able to empty the restaurant quickly.

Unknowingly, Elena had fallen asleep on the dining table. Auntie Qin walked over and saw Elena fast asleep with her head resting on her arms.

She tried lifting Elena up to bring her onto the couch but accidentally woke her up.

Elena opened her eyes from the movement and saw Auntie Qin.

"Hello, Auntie Qin."

"Child, why are you sleeping here? Go to sleep on your bed."

Elena smiled and asked, "What time is it?"

Auntie Qin rolled her sleeves up and looked at her watch, "It's 8:30. You should go get ready to sleep. I can wake you up when Mr. Lu comes back."

Elena shook her head and put a hand on Auntie Qin's shoulder, "It's okay. I'll wait a bit more."

Auntie Qin sighed before walking away into her room.

Elena looked at the two plates of food and the half-filled glasses of wine. The steak was cold already, and Elena quickly walked over to the microwave to hit it up.

She watched the plate turn around and around, her head tilted to the side.

'Did he not see my message?'

After she finished heating the steak, she went out and grabbed her phone. She dialed Lu Chenjun's number and put the phone to her ear.

'The person you are trying to reach is unavailable at this time, please call again at a later time.'

Elena frowned before calling again.

Elena closed her phone. Although she could guess that Lu Chenjun was probably not coming back, she didn't want to give up.

She decided to wait just a little longer. . .

The food had arrived, and Chu Hua was happily eating. Her appetite seemed to have increased since the day she came back.

Lu Chenjun, however, couldn't eat peacefully. A minute ago, he had tried to text Elena to tell her that he would be back late today.

However, right before he could send the text, his phone ran out of battery. He hadn't used his phone in about 7 hours, so he was confused about why the battery drained so quickly. He really needs to change his phone.

Lu Chenjun secretly prayed that Elena wouldn't be mad. He hadn't said that he would go back tonight, and Elena didn't even bother to contact him on Valentine's Day.

Although Lu Chenjun had forgotten himself, he was kind of disappointed that Elena didn't say anything on 5/20.

Lu Chenjun placed his phone down on the table and focused on eating dinner.

Elena walked back and forth from the dining room to the front door. She laid down on the couch, trying to count the number of hairs she had. When she reached 137 strands, she gave up and stared blankly at the ceiling.

She angrily stared at her phone, waiting for a notification.

After what seemed like forever, Elena finally heard a ding from her phone. She looked at her phone excitingly, but the sparkle in her eyes quickly disappeared.

It was just a notification from a daily news app, saying that there was some exciting article that was just posted.

Elena got off of the couch and moved back to the dining table. She looked at the glass of wine and picked it up.

She gently swung the glass around with her hand before drinking all of its contents in one gulp.

She filled the glass up again and drank it. Elena slammed the glass onto the table, almost breaking it.

The world outside was already dark, and a few stars were glistening in the night sky.

Elena internally cursed Lu Chenjun angrily, 'That stupid, ugly, unlikable, has-no-sense-of-time idiot!'

Elena still didn't want to give up. This was probably going to be the only Valentine's Day, 5/20 they will have together. If Lu Chenjun was to ever come back, Elena promised to beat him up so hard that he will be begging for forgiveness.

She angrily picked up her phone. It was already 10 P.M. There were only two hours left until the day was over.

Elena decided to check out the news app while he waited for Lu Chenjun to come back. She had downloaded the app a while ago but had not even opened it since then.

She clicked it open and scrolled through the home page. She tried searching herself up on the search engine but realized that the only news she had in Jin Province was the one of her dating Lu Chenjun.

Elena suddenly remembered something Lu Chenjun had told her a long time ago.

'The news seemed to have finally realized that I haven't changed a girlfriend in a month. They assumed that I'm now interested in men.'

Elena smiled at this memory and quickly searched up 'Lu Chenjun'. This app has all of the most important or surprising news in all of the Jin Province. Only the most famous or influential people in the country could make it to one of the articles on this platform.

The first thing she saw after searching up Lu Chenjun wasn't information about his sexual identity or his girlfriend. Instead, it was news just posted today, Valentine's Day.

Lu Chenjun often got featured on this app. News of him changing girlfriends, news of his company, or news about himself. Reporters all hoped to get some exciting news about Lu Chenjun. He was one of the most influential people in the country, and news reporters were able to earn lots of money if they were able to obtain information about him.

Elena clicked into the article after reading the title. The first thing she saw was a picture. She recognized the location of the image.

It was the Daxin Hotel. She had lived there with Mila when they first arrived in the Jin Province. The restaurant featured in the image was the one in the huge lobby.

The title of the article was 'Lu Chenjun, President of the LIQuan Company Books Restaurant to Eat With an Unknown Woman on 5/20'.

There was a close-up picture on Lu Chenjun's face and another image on the woman's face. Elena didn't know how to feel. She felt angry, betrayed, frustrated, sad, and confused. She had sent a message to him. If he was going to eat with someone else today, he should have told her. Why did he ignore her?

Elena would have been upset if Lu Chenjun had told her that he was eating with someone else today. However, he didn't even bother to tell her. She hated the feeling of getting betrayed. It was so familiar, yet it still hurt her whenever she felt it.

There weren't many words in the article, as the title and the images explained it all. Elena stood up and grabbed both of the plates. She dumped all of her hard work into the trash can. She had wasted her entire afternoon on something that was completely unnecessary.

She fell down onto the chair, her body giving in. She looked at the woman in the picture one more time. Why did she look so familiar? Elena stared intently at the smiling face of the beautiful lady sitting across from Lu Chenjun in the image.

Suddenly, something clicked in her mind. She knew why this woman looked so familiar. The woman's eyes. . . they looked so similar to Elena's eyes!

Elena's brows furrowed.

'Did Lu Chenjun go out with this girl because she looks like me?' Confusion swept through Elena as she wondered why Lu Chenjun decided to completely ignore her and go eat with the woman in the picture on Valentine's Day.

Elena felt a sharp pain in her heart as the confusion in her eyes turned to sadness.

'Or, Lu Chenjun decided to date me because I resemble the girl in the picture.'

She fought back tears as she felt that she was just acting stupid. Why did she feel like crying for someone who didn't even care for her? Why did she feel sad? There was only one answer. She had gone way too far. She had accidentally given her heart away. . .
