Chapter 6: Chapter 6 - Journey to the West
We walk outside to the courtyard next to the tree. A dragon, really?!
Dragons are mythical beings only talked about in legends! I feel like I don't even know Ming, as if all this time she still has many secrets.
"Aurra, I know you'll like this, so watch."
Ming pulls out a flute-like instrument and starts to blow into it.
Fwoosh
The wind started to pick up, as the qi around me starts to swirl, and beautiful sounds come out from Ming's flute.
"Woah..."
In the clear blue sky, I see a silhouette of a creature soaring towards us. I can see a long snake-like body flowing past the clouds and becoming increasingly bigger.
"A Spiritual Dragon?!"
I read this in a book Ming gave me. There are five types of dragons: Earth, Celestial, Grand, Spiritual, and Dragon Kings. Earth dragons command the ground, Celestial command the heavens, Spiritual command the sky and water, and the Four Dragon Kings are basically deities who are the lords of all dragons. The dragons are easily distinguished by what they do.
This dragon coming towards us is flying at high speeds and parting the clouds. Making it a Spiritual dragon.
"Ming, how can you call a Spiritual dragon!?"
"That's a secret!"
I see Ming hold her laughter as she watches my super-shocked face.
Whoosh
Woah the dragon is so big! Stretching out to about fifty yards the dragon and almost wrap around the whole courtyard!
"Are you ready, Aurra?"
"Hell ya! I can't wait to, but are you sure it's safe for me?"
"More than safe. This dragon's name is Shengli, and he will never let you fall off."
"Shengli."
The dragon's head turns towards me and moves closer and closer. Then Shengli opens his large mouth and covers my entire body.
"Shengli stop that your gonna scare her!"
"Woah look at all those teeth!"
There are several dozen sets of teeth in Shengli. This is so cool! It's like a dream come true! Shengli goes back a few yards and looks at Ming, with what I can see as a dragon smiling.
"Calm down Ming, you need to loosen up sometimes. It was supposed to be funny."
The words that came out of Shengli were almost musical with how they sounded. Even his chuckles were weirdly harmonic with the wind.
"Shengli you are trying to become part of the celestial dragons, and you need to learn to be professional."
"C'mon Ming, this isn't the Heavenly palace! What's the big deal about having some fun?"
"I taught you better than this."
Taught?! Ming is this dragon's teacher?!
"Oh, Ming I think you said too much with her listening."
"Oops."
"Hehe, I won't tell anyone, but you guys are too cool! I feel like I'm about to burst with excitement and shock!"
"Well, you haven't even tried flying yet!"
Suddenly my body lifted and put onto Shengli's back.
"Woah!"
WOOSH
So fast! Shengli jerked up towards the sky and kept flying upwards. If I don't hold on I might fall off!
"How does it feel?"
"Wha- I can't hear you!"
"Perfect!"
AHHH! How can he still go even faster! I can't catch a breath!
"Wait hold up!"
Shengli suddenly stopped and I flew off his back a little bit.
"Woah, hey!"
AH I'm falling down! Help! The wind gushed past me as I fell and kept falling at an accelerating rate.
"How is it?"
What? I look over to my left and Shengli is falling next to me.
"Can't you see I'm falling?!"
"It's okay, I am here."
"What if you miss?!"
I look down and it was a HUGE mistake! I see the ground coming closer and closer...
"Shengli that was not appropriate!"
I hear Ming say when I closed my eyes to prepare for the landing. Opening my eyes I see Ming floating to my right. Woah did Ming stop my fall? I am floating a few yards above the ground.
"Thank you, Ming..."
Haa I almost died... again...
Ming looks at Shengli with a hint of motherly anger.
"Aurra, pack your things, and let's go. I left a bag on the couch."
"Okay!"
I feel my heart racing thinking about soaring through the sky and arriving back home on a dragon! Can't wait to see my mom's face!
Going back inside I went to pick up the black bag that Ming left on the couch. It is a beautifully designed single strapped sack and I wrung it over my left shoulder. Going to the room I stayed in this past month; I went over to my drawer and took out the box containing the dagger.
Hmm, maybe I should just wear the dagger. I open the box and take out the wonderful dagger. I then got a thigh strap from the closet and clipped it onto my left thigh. Sliding the sheath of the dagger into the strap it fits snuggly on my thigh.
Wow! I look really cool right now!
Looking at the mirror I start to see myself becoming more and more like a warrior.
This box is too good looking to leave here. I put the box along with some clothes and books into the bag. Lifting it I felt the weight on my shoulder.
Goodbye room and house, I promise I'll come to visit in the future!
I leave the house ready to get going and I see Ming and Shengli talking in the courtyard.
"Does she not have an affinity?"
"I don't know yet... Maybe it's something special."
"Humans usually have an affinity for something unrelated to the elements."
"I know, but it's impossible to find out what it is normally."
Are they talking about me? My affinity?
"Oh, Aurra didn't see you there! Are you ready to go?"
"Yep!"
"Get on."
Ming used wind magic and lifted me back onto Shengli's back and then got on herself.
"Full speed ahead!"
I shouted.
"Of course!"
Shengli exclaimed as we all took off.
I turn around and see the house getting smaller and further away as we soar through the sky westbound.

A couple of days pass as we soar through the sky and make occasional stops for the bathroom and food. Ming uses magic to store food in her bag and the magic keeps it fresh and warm.
On the third day, I start seeing signs of the kingdom of Gregorian.
"Ming look the outskirts of Gregordian!"
"We are getting pretty close. Shengli, drop us down over there."
Ming points to the forest near the outskirts and we fly in the direction.
"Ming why can't we just go straight to the castle?"
"Silly child! Haha, if they see a dragon going towards the castle they will think we are here to attack!"
Oh, that is true. Dragons are believed to have disappeared in the past and are now regarded as myths. If the people of Gregordian see one flying towards them they might start attacking us.
We land in the forest and I drop down from Shengli's back.
"Come on Ming I can't wait to tell my mom about my adventure!"
"Hold on Aurra, Shengli needs to disguise himself first."
Disguise how will he hide his massive body?
Suddenly white fog came out from Shengli's body as he began to shrink and shrink. the fog kept coming as he shrank into a human form.
"Woah you can do that?!"
"With magic, you can do anything. Ming is also doing it right now."
Wait, what!
"Shengli what did I say! She can't know yet!"
"Oops."
"Ming? What do you mean I can't know what?"
"Oh, whatever Aurra I have to tell you something."
"I am one of the dragon kings."
