Chapter 4: Meeting after a long time
I arrived thirty minutes earlier and was waiting for her nervously. Many thoughts crossed my mind. All those beautiful memories made my eyes sting and a tear drop fell down. Remembering the past made me realize that Jane and Vi was always there for me. They were the reason why I kept moving forward no matter what hurdles I faced. They were my pillar of support and my partners in crime. We really were very mischevious when we were little. We did all kind of things from breaking into haunted places to ratting out on cheating people. It kept dawning on me that I really am hopeless without these girls.
A slender arm suddenly covered my eyes when I was lost in thoughts but I was not startled because I vividly remember this touch. This flowery fragrance belongs to Jane, my sweet girl and suddenly that fateful day flashed before my eyes. I felt like my chest was tightening as I struggled to breath.I was brought back to reality when she asked "What are you daydreaming about?". "Nothing" I said with a smile.
When I came here I decided to confront her about her relationship with Jace. So without beating around the bush I asked her " What is going on with you and Jace? How long are you gonna hide it from me and Vi?". She was stunned and embarrassment was written all over her face. She apologized immediately and confirmed that she started dating Jace two years back and that she was afraid to tell us the truth.
Two year back. They have been dating way long than I had imagined. I felt like an idiot chasing him around without knowing anything and I felt wronged like I had been cheated by my best friend. She immediately tried to explain after seeing my dissapointed look. She said that she was aware of my feelings for Jace and was afraid of hurting me. What she failed to realise was that it hurt me more on knowing that she made me a fool. If only she had faith in me and told me the truth, I would have given up on him and none of those horrible things would have happened.
I quickly composed my feelings and was happy that atleast now she decided to tell me the truth. I gave her a hug and told her that it was alright. What matters the most is the fact that she is alive and I managed to stop that regretful incident from happening. We chatted for a bit and she narrated her story of how they started dating. Seems like it was Jace who convinced her to date him and to hide it from us as she was a bit reluctant.
After lunch we decided to meet up with our other two friends and gave them a call. We decided to meet at our secret hideout. Yes, we had a secret hideout in the woods which later turned into our base to plan against those undeads. I was really thankful that we decided to go with our crazy plan of building a secret hideout in the woods behide Jace's place.
Our secret hideout was a wooden house that we built together with the help of my brother Josh (Joshua). As we grew we kept upgrading it with all the technical stuff and even rebuilt it into two stories. We had a game room, a lounge, a movie room with a projector where we watched all kinds of horror movies and a seperate room for all of us with attached bathroom. By that time you could say that it was more like a home than a secret hideout. Josh squeezed his way in and claimed a room for himself where he kept a lot of high spec computers. We never got to enter his room until later as he installed a password lock to that room. Only after the doomed day did the others realized that he was a hacker and was crazily good at it. I as his sister who grew up together with him was aware of this but he refused to let me tell the others as he worked for the goverment's secret agency. After the zombie breakout he saved our ass many times that we lost count.
I had the best time with my buddies after a long time and Vi kept on teasing the love birds the whole time. Now that I managed to avoid the first mishap, I felt like a heavy burden was lifted of my shoulders. I was assured that we can overcome that apocalypse together. Now that i got my buddies back, I will make sure to avoid that accident from ever happening.
That night after coming back home I organised my thoughts and wrote down all the important things that I could remember. I racked my brains and tried to remember all the things that are about to happen in the coming days. To my disappointment, memories of the past was a little hazy and I had a feeling that I was forgetting something important. Something that I shouldn't have forgotten. An important memory which could save the world from the apocalypse.
