50% Quest: to become a MC! / Chapter 31: I was an author.

Chapter 31: I was an author.

The merchant's carriage was going in the best direction Vayve could've hoped for.

The trip would end by the closest city around the mountains where the servants of Hona Family had hidden themselves. The carriage was the only option for Vayve and Yuna as it would hide their identities and provide some security.

Of course, they themselves are strong enough to protect each other.

"It's going to take a while... How about we play a game?"

"A game?"

"Yeah, I will toss my coin and if you lose, you have to tell one thing about yourself."

Vayve proposed a game with a coin that is his close comrade. There were three carriages and three of them were lucky enough to be in the carriage without anyone else. Only merchant's stuff was here!

The adventurers were all running around while watching the surroundings, so Vayve also could probe more into them by getting closer to Markas! The boy was rather happy to find someone around his age, so with a game, it's going to be quite easy.

Furthermore, it was also a good thing for Vayve to become closer with Yuna.

"Okay!"

"Yeah!"

It was pretty impossible to train here anyway, so Yuna agreed brightly, then Markas followed with his excited shout. This was a new experience, the one he can feel only by interacting with his peers.

Soon enough, Vayve tossed a coin while facing Yuna. Both of them spoke at the same time the moment it landed on Vayve's palm.

"Heads!"

"Tails."

The one who won was Vayve, so it was Yuna's time to share something about herself! The small lady looked at Vayve, then made a smug face saying that she likes a swords. In fact, she took out her sword from her big backpack which was hidden all this time.

Markas naturally went wide, then with excitement looked over that sword.

Then, it was his turn. He faced Vayve with a wide smile, then shouted the same coin side Yuna had chosen before. Luckily enough, it was Vayve's turn to say something about himself! Markas did that 'yeah!' happy shout, then turned his eyes to Yuna who nodded with a contentment.

It made him smile even more.

"Hmm, I was... an author."

"An author? What did you write about?"

"You want to know? Then win next time."

Going for a similar smug face, Vayve made Yuna tremble a little as she felt challenged. It was also a good payback for her smug face which she couldn't ignore! Looks like they are going to share as little as possible to keep the challenge.

A coin went up, then as quickly fell to keep the game vivid.

As Yuna and Markas struggled to make Vayve lose while exposing more and more about themselves, Vayve's turn finally arrived yet again and he had to share a little about his stories.

"One of my stories had a MC whose power was to get a recipe for every dish. The dish would be... also kind of magic dish which could raise a lot of stats... He could create his own, but the first path was to... turn other dishes into a better and stronger ones."

"What is MC? What are 'stats'?"

"Ah, it's the main character."

"Hehe, you answered me."

"I won't tell you about stats then."

Vayve realized that he made a blunder, then laughed after a momentary silence. The group continued their game for a long time and exposed more of their favourite foods, snacks, then even weapons and battles!

The story about a MC who had a power to get a recipe for unique dishes also got a little more details as Vayve used the curiousity of his friend to answer when needed. The power to get a recipe was something like a system, but in order to get a recipe, Vayve's MC needed to fulfill quests which put him in a lot miserable situations.

The name of that MC was Warrans and he was a masochist already even when that story was not in its middle stage.

It was not possible for Warrans to not become a masochist as the quests involved him to fight a lot! The first stage was to turn every dish into his own, then raise the taste and add special effect which could raise 'stats' that he only could see.

Others would only experience a boost in strength for example.

'I had no money for a food back then... and could only eat potatoes for three months...'

The reason for Vayve to create a story about such system was this simple, but also quite pitiful. He let out a sigh, then the game continued. Even though Vayve had a lot coins and so his friends, no one was willing to toss a coin.

As if Vayve was the only one to do it! But it was simply because he proposed a game!

In the midst of the game, Vayve got a sudden notification.

[Your compatibility with Money Magic System rises!]

When Vayve got that notification, his eyes went wide as it was a mere game! But in this game, he became closer with his only friend, then a new one that was also a friendly dude. Furthermore, he was healing his past's wounds by speaking about a MC of one of his stories.

It was as if exposing something too valuable, but for Yuna's curiousity and Markas' excited eyes, Vayve felt like speaking about this was not that bad at all.

And what came out from that notification was something quite funny.

"It's going to be Heads! ...Now, show us!"

"You sure?"

"I am sure!"

"...If not this time, then another!"

Vayve could decide on which side his coin would fall. It was a pretty funny thing considering their game, but it also strengthened Vayve's abilities.

[Your chances of getting 'Lucky Toss' have increased by 10%]

His Lucky Toss got strengthened!

"Haha! What's up, Yunyu?"

That smug face!

"Don't like at me like that anymore!"

Every time she saw that smug face!

"Ahhh! Why?! Why am I losing so much?!"

He thoroughly got her!

"Haha! Don't worry! It's okay to lose sometimes!"

Even Markas joined the ride getting more friendly with everyone!
