Chapter 18: Vayve is finally within an academy's grounds

It was no longer possible for Vayve to make up for an opening ceremony.

His academy days are going to start with a problem, but he himself benefited from the quest, so there was not even a hint of a worry within his heart. The status of a noble also should help him deal with problems if any happen.

Missing an opening ceremony shouldn't be a big deal at all.

Furthermore, Vayve had a goal on his way towards an academy. It was to find another bandit group and ask them for the origins of the blood coin. The only clue Vayve had was as such, so he had a little room to move here.

However, on his way, the sight of bandits couldn't be seen as if everyone already given up on going for the young nobles.

"Young Master, we are close."

And so, after a few days, Vayve appeared in front of the gates leading to that prestigous academy. His maid was already ready to leave him as from now on, Vayve is on his own! But before his back disappeared, the lady mentioned something very important.

"Young Master is a member of Ranria Family."

It means that his achievements and loses are affecting the name and status of his mother and father! That's why, his maid leaned down and told him briefly that using an attack of the bandits as an excuse is surely a bad thing!

Other young masters might use it to ridicule Vayve and his family!

After all, they had spent a lot time going here, so surely everyone is going to misunderstood that. They might think that Vayve and his forces were forced to run away or at least fight with the bandits for a long peroid of time.

And even if they not misunderstand it, the noble kids are certainly raised in a way to find advantages and use them for themselves. Thus, it's easy to bend the truth for their own benefit!

"I got it."

"Yes, good luck, young master!"

"Thanks."

That's why, Vayve had to think about an excuse while going to the principal's office.

The academy was so big and Vayve had to ask for the direction many people on his way. From afar, it looked like a castle, but inside, it was like a maze! Anyway, even after such long struggle to find an office, Vayve hadn't formed a perfect excuse.

"..."

But the doors leading to an office were in front of him.

In the end, Vayve had to knock the doors and just go with a random excuse! After a few knocks, a deep voice rang out and so Vayve stepped forward. He was not wearing any academy's uniform and was like a young, but stupid master.

"H-hello."

The principal was sitting on his chair with his head resting close to his crossed hands.. He was looking like that typical principal Vayve could think about on the spot! From an appearance alone, the principal was like that middle aged man with a few white streaks going on his brown hair.

But there was that pressure Vayve couldn't mistake at all.

'He is a strong mage.'

"Why are you late?"

"I decided... to take a rest and practice describing a magic scrolls... I lost the passage of time and somehow a few days passed..."

"Idiot."

The principal was kinda annoyed which Vayve couldn't really understand why. Of course, his identity was already confirmed as he passed a letter with a noble sign, so everything should go all fine.

However, the principal wasn't answering after his last 'insult'.

His eyes just continued to glare at the young boy which was kinda scary! A lot scary events were unfolding before Vayve, but at this point, he was truly accustomed. Soon enough, the principal asked an question.

"Do you know why an opening ceremony is important?"

"This is..."

"You don't."

The principal named Professor Mura slowly raised his head up. Sitting in a straight position, his eyes were looking more domineering to which it looked like his speech is going to be an amazing one! However, the magic of this appearance disappeared as he waved his hand angrily.

"Every opening ceremony needs a speech! The speech is obligatory for the principal and I had to write a 10 000 words! This is a tradition, but you don't know what is the worst here."

"Yes... This is my first time-"

"Each opening ceremony needs a new speech! Every damn ceremony!"

For a years, Professor Mura was obligated to write a 10 000 words speech many times! It was fine at the beginning as he had just to change a little. He either used synonyms for the most important parts or just changed the sentences a little.

From a change to a change, it was all fine! However, he has been doing it for a years, so eventually, Professor Mura faced that wall and got forced to write a new speech... It caused his heart to be filled with nostalgia that reminded him of all his hardships at the beginning of his journey as the new principal.

Maybe other principals had faced the same fate, but he didn't care... It was such deep nostalgia Professor Mura cried and cried.

"And here we have someone who missed my speech."

"..."

Vayve was just one of many thousand new students, so it was pretty stupid for Professor Mura to be so angry at him! Of course, the principal was kinda annoyed as it took him a while to write a new speech too.

There were a lot reasons for him to be angry, but it was indeed too stupid to just go for Vayve like that. As the principal sighed, his body eased up sinking into that soft chair.

"It's not like missing my speech is your geatest misfortune. There were a lot of teachers, their eyes deeply probing into young nobles and even commoners. If someone had a talent and their eyes could discern it, then it was their lucky chance."

"..."

"But you couldn't even get checked, so that's your loss."

Professor Mura waved his hand yet again, then used that already exhausted palm to rest his head on. His eyes were looking at Vayve with a slight tease as within his mind, a thought to make him listen to his speech anew happened.

Of course, getting not checked is bad, but Vayve just wanted to get a class and begin a new life here. It would be bad if he spoke about it too bluntly, so he just apologized and asked in the nicest way possible.

"A class, huh..."

The principal knew that Vayve's family has surely some connection to the teachers. His mother was a strong student here, so that's given... There is certainly someone waiting for Vayve or at least ready to take him in.

So the principal just needed to look deep enough!

Actually, if he read more of that recommendation latter from Miss Ranria, then he would know which teacher he needs to send Vayve to!

Anyway, before he could go that deep, the principal spotted a document on his desk. He had way too much of these, but this particular one was something he actually felt like it was a godsent!

"You can enter a class, but don't you think it would be too dangerous for you?"

"What does that mean, the principal?"

"If a punishment for missing an opening ceremony hadn't fallen on your head, then other students would take that as an example and a bad behaviour would increase in our academy."

"..."

"And wouldn't that make others jealous? Now, I think that's the worst thing for you."

The principal smiled, then gestured Vayve to come closer. As soon as the small boy appeared by the table, he got raised up by an unknown magic, so that his eyes could look at the paper on the table...

"There is an outcast teacher who lacks any students."

"If that teach is an outcast, then-"

"No, no... She is a special case... Well, just sign that document and become her student. If you are lucky, then this punishment will turn into a huge lucky chance that many will be jealous of."

This is surely a bad event!

An outcast teacher who is still working for an academy is a pain in the ass! This teacher must be shrouded in a misfortune, so that no one wants to work with her! Anyway, Vayve knew that he has to sign that document, so the connections his mother has here won't bother the principal.

So he just could refuse.

But before he could refuse him...

"I can always lower a monthly supply of magic resources... I wonder how other classmates would react..."

"Ah, I get it! I will go to that teacher!"

This man was truly using everything to force Vayve to sign that document! As someone who had only an one friend, Vayve decided to not get more conflicts that might seem like a big ones... The reduced conflict is surely a big thing, so he can just go to that outcast teacher.

Who is not really an outcast, but whatever!

"But if it's too unbearable, then I will come back here!"

"Alright, alright~~ If you survive at least one or two months, then I will give you a choice."

Professor Mura just laughed and took that document with a contentment. Then, he passed enough information for Vayve to find his teacher! There was also a perfect map of that big academy, so Vayve just thanked with a little annoyed voice, then left an office.

"She was bugging me for a disciple to bully, so now, I am free from her stupid advances."
